I'm (30, m) a drummer in Fort Collins and want to start a ska band but it seems like everyone out here hates ska 😂 I've played in bands since I was a teenager, mostly hardcore and metal bands. I want to do something different, since everyone and their mother wants to be in a beatdown band. I'm cool with implementing other styles of music. Just want to jam and meet people, see where things go. If you're in the area, hmu!

I'm selling an SP404SX with no power supply for $250, which I think is a steal and is remarkably lower than other listings, considering it has no supply. It's not selling, people are just viewing it.

Any advice on how to move it quickly or what I should change?

I've had the most excruciating back pain that feels like it's getting worse and I'm starting to get depressed and emotional.

A few weeks ago, I (30, M) randomly hurt my back doing god knows what. I have a history of reoccurring bulging disc pain that flares up, I'm in pain for a bit, do PT, it heals, and it just goes in a cycle. This time around feels the worst out of all my back incidents.

Went to the ER twice. First time, got an x ray and they prescribed me an antiinflammatory. Didn't help, pain got worse. A few days later I coughed and my back gave out, couldn't walk. Went back to the ER, they did a CT scan and gave me prednisone and riboflaxen. I took the prednisone for 2 days, it kinda helped and my back actually felt stable but it made me feel really weird and I stopped taking it. After stopping it, the pain has become even more excruciating. I can barely move without being in pain. It's a stiff, locking pain in my lower back that's kinda tingly but not numb or anything that warrants red flag urgency (according to doctors). I'm getting tightening weak pain my thighs and have cramps and knots in my hips.

I don't know what to do. Idk if I should go back to a doctor, just for them to waste my time and tell me they can't do anything. Idk if I should try taking the prednisone again. This is really crippling. I can't focus on anything fun or positive. I can't do simple cleaning around the house. I feel useless and am barely able to go to work. Laying down and sitting hurts. Walking hurts. Tylenol and ibuprofen don't do shit. Heat doesn't do anything. I'm on a wait-list for PT and I'm not sure what stretches or anything I can do. Even tilting my pelvis is excruciating. I'm really starting to feel hopeless. I got dropped from my therapist cause he doesn't take Medicaid anymore and I have nobody to talk to besides my wife. I'm supposed to be going on a trip in a couple weeks to see my parents, but I don't think I can go like this. I'm falling apart physically and emotionally.

30 yo M here. Have had several back throw outs within the past couple years where I'll be in pain for months, go through PT and it resolves over time and then happens again. The usual cycle most of you know way too well.

Currently, I'm in another one of those periods. 3 weeks ago the pain came out of nowhere. Stiff, locking pain in lower back. Hurts to bend, hurts to sit, hurts to walk. Tightness in thighs, sciatic pain, hip pain. I work at an instrument store doing E-commerce management. A lot of my days consist of packing orders, sometimes heavy amplifiers and audio equipment. Since my recent injury, my boss has been awesome in accommodating my pain. But even packing tiny things on waist high tables is difficult. I'm starting to wonder if I should consider finding a more sedentary based job. I've had remote call center style jobs in the past. It's easier on the body, but it's more monotonous and isolating. It sucks but I'm trying to weigh out what's going to be best for my health moving forward.

I love a lot of power pop bands and I also love a lot of post rock and noise rock stuff. What are some power pop bands that are a bit different and experimental?

I (30,M) work in an instrument shop. I help run the e-commerce side of it with one other person. I. In charge of packing and shipping orders, product photography, and maintaining the stores website. Been doing this for 6 months now.

It's a pretty isolated job in a backroom. The floor employees come in once in a while to drop stuff off, but they don't stay and conversate. The other guy I work with is hot and cold. Sometimes we have cool conversations, but a lot of the day is in silence and he gets pretty frustrated sometimes. I'm not as knowledgeable about gear as he is, and I think he gets frustrated having to show me things several times. He doesn't really have much interest in talking music with me cause we like different styles and I sometimes struggle to find common ground taste wise.

I'm a musician, drummer mostly, but I've always had a hard time understanding the technical side of music. I have experience with record stores, so I much prefer the cultural side of music over the gear side of it. It's just more my personality. I'm having a hard time with this job because it's very isolating, I don't get much interaction with others outside of this other guy who is sometimes tough to work with. The job itself is monotonous and boring. I can finish my tasks in like 4 hours, so I have to work really slow to make the day go by (I work a 4/10 schedule too). I feel sad because I love music, but I've learned that this side of music just doesn't line up with my interests like I thought it would. Id rather talk about bands than guitar pickups, and a lot of the stuff is hard for me to understand which makes it hard to relate and bond with my coworkers. I feel really out of place, and alone at times. Plus, I kinda got this job in desperation 24 hours after being laid off from a job at a pawn shop that I actually really loved.

My wife works at a local record shop and I'm thinking of trying to get a job there, I even know the owner and everything, but I'm hesitant cause I haven't worked at this current job super long and I don't want it to reflect poorly on my resume. I've been trying to adjust and see if things get better, but it's not and my boss doesn't want me to cross train on the floor. Plus, the pay could be better and the record shop would actually pay more.

Do you guys think I should leave this job or should I try to stick it out longer? I just don't think I'm happy but I don't want to be picky

Just watched the documentary on Zamrock (Zambian psych rock scene from the 70s) and it made me want to find more documentaries about international punk scenes, or just other music scenes in general. Any suggestions?

Fellow musician here. Never made harsh noise before (I make Mclusky/Girls Against Boys style noise rock kind of stuff). I find the genre incredibly fascinating and am just getting my toes wet in it.

Genuinely curious if this is one of those genres where a majority of the listeners are also artists, or if there is a good chunk of non-musician fans out there who just listen to noise casually.

I'm starting to make solo stuff and I want to do a noise rock/post hardcore kinda thing. I really like bands like Mclusky, Metz, Hammerhead, Jesus Lizard, Jawbox, Unwound, Refused, etc.

My question: I'm a drummer traditionally trying to pickup the guitar. I want to know, what kinda of chords are used in noise rock and what techniques are utilized? Do you just kinda make up your own chords to get the sound you want or do you use traditional chords more often? And what kind of effects do you typically use?

So I've already been into garage punk related stuff since I was younger. Jay Reatard, Ty Segal, The Briefs, Bass Drum of Death, New Bomb Turks, Generacion Suicida, Mean Jeans, and of course the classic stuff like The Gun Club.

With this genre, obviously it integrates electronic elements and is more of a one-man band concept like with Wavves. It's not exactly a style that's brand new by any means, but what seems interesting about it is there's more of an anyone can do it element to it similar to the whole SoundCloud rap concept. Reminds me of the idea behind dudes like Atom and His Package. It's obviously taking aesthetic cues from more 2000s Internet culture, mixed with the satirical dark imagery of certain elements of electronic and industrial music.

So I guess my question, what about this genre is most appealing to you guys? The experimentation? The idea of doing it yourself without needing a full band? Do you see this as a revamp of older styles, or something completely different? It's exciting to see something like this come out when hardcore is really coming back in the sub-mainstream spotlight, and it seems like a middle finger to the whole thing.

I've been involved in the punk community for a while now, and I'm trying to clean up my life and meet like-minded people. Any suggestions are appreciated. 30 yo M, sober for 7 years now. Musician, artist, family dude, etc.

Nicotine is my only vice left. Sober for 6 years total, I just really want to quit but am having a hard time with it. It would be helpful if I had some type of support buddy. Any thoughts or people looking for something similar?
