App for recording and transcribing calls?

Hi all - my mom is going through stage 3 cancer 1,300 miles away from me, and I'd really like to record the great life stories she tells while we talk every day. I can't type quickly enough to keep up while we talk. I know there are AI services that call your parents for you and record their answers to dumb questions, but my mom is the love of my life, so that kind of cold service isn't for me.

Since I'm on an insanely limited budget ($1700 a month won't let me fly up there right now), free or low-cost apps that will run on an S22 Ultra with OneUI 8 and Android 16 - and at least allow me to download the files if not transcribe them - are ideal. Any help is much appreciated. She has so much to still put out into the world, and is not tech-savvy enough to use voice-to-text on the Google Drive account I set up for us.

Random Joe Horn photo

I don't know who runs the account, but Down and Distance on IG shows a lot of love to the Saints on throwback posts. Loved this moment, and MT's later homage.

I mean I guess if we're making tier lists

I'd probably swap a couple in the "Meh" and "Nah" now that I'm looking at it. Michigan will always catch a stray from me at any opportunity though.

Battle for Shit Mountain is solved

Time to go home, AFC South. You're pretending to still be a slacker, but we all know you've got a wife and kids and a 401k now.

Might seem dumb, but... Grateful/Greatful Dead

I swear at some point in the '80s and '90s it was often spelled "Greatful Dead." The easiest explanation is that their followers did a lot of drugs and misspelled it on various posters and knockoff merch. I remember thinking it was a little clever at the time.

Baby tree roaches?

EDIT: I'm talking about the giant flying roaches...

Thought I'd give the hardworking people in this sub something different to respond to other than itineraries (not that there's anything wrong with those)...

Has anyone ever seen a baby tree roach? Am I just "lucky" enough that I've only ever seen those hellbeasts at full size, usually flying directly into my face? Do they just hide out and hatch at full size, ready to unleash their terror upon us?

I'm a Houstonian of 20 years who's spent a hell of a lot of time in New Orleans, and I've yet to see a baby tree roach. I've seen baby *regular* roaches and their nests, and that'll drop your stomach into your knees. I've seen termites. I've seen a few gator families. But I've yet to see a baby tree roach. Just seems odd to me.
