This is Gregory Khunt, social media manager for proud Aussie Dave Fingabung-Knightly from Wine to The Stars, and I unmercifully cyberbully a millionaire octogenarian over a 10-year-old unpaid wine debt from over 7,500 miles away. AMA!
reddit.comBefore I go through show by show: does anyone have a Spafford covers Nugs playlist going? They play some amazing covers.
reddit.comWhy do bands like Spafford, who regularly stream their shows and do it at high quality level, not push to be part of nugs show streaming? Do they lose the rights to their own streams or something? Spafford streams a bunch of heaters and I feel like the Nugs exposure would be huge.
reddit.comWhat’s the one most unique piece of jamband merch out there right now? My show buddy is hitting a milestone birthday and I want to get him something legit. He likes literally every jamband but, like every jamband fan has a small mountain of tees already. TIA!
reddit.comDo you have hobbies? How do you mentally justify spending money on them when there’s so much you could be saving for as a dad? We have a toddler and we’re finally at the point where my wife & I can pick back up our <$150/mo hobby…but it makes me feel guilty now.
My wife and I are really into live music. Before we had a kid, we were seeing 5 shows a month on average. Mostly local shows and then a bigger touring act maybe once every other month. But a lot of live music. Maybe our biggest passion.
We basically just cut it out when we had a kid. Now our kid is almost 3 and we’re dipping our toe back in…maybe one show a month.
But now I’ve got the weirdest psychological block where I’m unable to enjoy the show because I’m thinking “$30 x2 for tickets, $50 for a quick dinner before, $40 on other little concert night stuff…..that’s $150 I can be putting into a 529.”
We’re middle class, but definitely on the lower end. I don’t think we’ll ever get back to 50+ shows a year obviously and a concert a month doesn’t put us in a bad spot, but I just have dad guilt that I could be better serving my kid by sacrificing this thing that we used to do.
How did you ease back into your hobbies after your family’s newborn stage?
How did you “convince” (although that’s a bad word) yourself that it was ok to spend money on a non-essential hobby looking at a future that’s just getting more and more expensive?

There’s gotta be some smarter-than-me Deadhead out there that has the stats on this: Of the songs that never fell out of formal rotation, which seemed to be played the MOST early on and the LEAST as time went on? For example, I feel like Casey Jones became a quasi-rarity as the 1990s hit

The new album is 10x better than it has any right to be. Checked it out after reading about it earlier and am on my 5th run though. They could’ve coasted on name and 100% did not.
Really really impressive stuff.
I honestly believe you could shuffle these new songs with songs by the OG lineup and anyone not truly paying attention wouldn’t notice.
Gonna be a heavy spinner all summer.
I made a Spafford 2.0 playlist to shuffle in the run up to summer tour. Man, they play a lot of shows in a lot of places. Some tiny towns & really weird venues. Seems like a wild lifestyle. Bless Spafford and see you out there.
2nu.gsI used to hate Dylan, but one day I was in a buddy’s car and I heard his song that goes “Such a sexy, sexy pretty little thing Fierce nipple pierce, you got me sprung with your tongue ring” and I said, my god, this man is operating beyond the realm of geniuses.
reddit.comSpafford tour is hitting near me in a few weeks. They’ve become one of my favs — I want to take the older guy that got me into jambands. He’s 70ish now but really into Dead & Phish. What in your opinion, what’s the ONE best Spafford song I should send his way?
