Finally got my EDC tool kit pretty much complete and setup how I want it, after some trial and error

After trying a few different bags/pouches, I settled on this Amazon special.

https://a.co/d/0anB3pLs

It has plenty of room, the quality is decent, and it is cheap enough that if it wears out soon, I will just buy another. I also finally settled on my contents.

  • Extendable mirror
  • std and metric sockets (free from a cheap kit - the holders are surprisingly good) I put these in because they take up almost no space as well as having a couple of odd sizes that aren't in the klein set)
  • Nebo Mini Larry 500
  • Large rubber band
  • Mini sharpie
  • Ballpoint pen (Uni Power Tank Ballpoint Pen - 0.7 mm - Blue)
  • Knipex twin grip
  • mini flush cutters
  • extendable magnet pickup tool
  • various zip ties
  • straight forceps
  • Vessel driver handle (230W)
  • Milwaukee precision screwdriver (if I had to do it over, I would go with the Klein)
  • small utility knife
  • HF meme kit ratchet, extension, and 1/4" drive bit socket
  • Mini multi meter
  • 6" locking bit extension
  • Klein flip socket set (love these things)
  • #2 phillips bit
  • short bit extension
  • bits from the HF meme kit as well as others I had. I bought the railer holders on amazon
  • 6' tape measure
  • assorted hardware - drywall anchors and wire nuts (I'm thinking about getting an altoids box to put these in
  • velcro cable ties
  • soft jaws for the wrench pliers
  • tweezers
  • mini folding scissors
  • wire stripper/cutters
  • water pump pliers
  • wrench pliers
  • pry bar

So far this has turned out to be a VERY handy kit. I took it to the in-laws earlier this summer and did a whole bunch of honey-do's around their house. I was pleasantly surprised that the water pump pliers and wrench pliers opened big enough to take sink drain plumbing apart. I also used the kit when I replaced my water heater last weekend. I only needed a full size pipe wrench to break 2 pipe connections loose. I also used it to replace a car window motor - only needed 2 deep sockets from my tool box.

All-in-all I am super happy with the setup and would not change much at all. If the water pump and wrench pliers break I will replace with knipex.

Those of you that EDC the 2 Day Assault Pack...

What kind of things/setups do you carry?

I currently EDC a First Tactical Tactix Half-Day Plus Backpack 27L
https://www.firsttactical.com/products/tactix-0-5-day-backpack

I recently got the 2DAP and am trying it for EDC. My deal is I feel like I need pouches for everything with the 2DAP. I love the First Tactical pack because it has so many damn pockets built in. I can easily and very well organize my shit with the pockets and pouches. The 2DAP has so few. I love the way the 2DAP carries/rides though, super comfortable (so is the First Tactical).

I carry basically a mobile office for school and work. Tablet, laptop, associated chargers and electronic accessories, power bank, router and MiFi modem, notebook, pen case, kindle, textbooks, IFAK, flashlight and a few other things.

Do y'all use lots of pouches, or do I just carry a bunch of shit compared to most folk?

Does this look right? I measure right at the max end of the S/M sizing

I have the MAX line still in the pocket. All the videos and such have the yokes way farther down. If I get a L/XL harness, it would stick up the same or farther, right?

[EDIT] This is a 2 Day Assault Pack. I will try adjusting it when loaded as soon as it dries (I disabled and cleaned it tonight - bought used and she was quite dirty. [\EDIT]

NBD - MR 3way broefcase

This is my first MR bag. Recommended by lots of friends. Quality is impressive. I love the expanding section. Padding for technology pocket is dense and covers way more than I was expecting.

Already ordered a 2DAP lol A monster may have just been created. Looking forward to carrying this daily for work and school.

Cool looking strobe I saw on the life vests on our cruise

I am a firefighter and a safety nerd so I was checking out the life vests in our room and noticed the strobe lights attached. I thought they were pretty cool, and I had not seen one like it before (which doesn't mean much). Anyhow, I thought it would be cool to share.

and yes, I put the light back on the vest after I took the pics. I figured if I wanted one bad enough I could find one online, and I did, they're about $20.

[EDIT]

Wow, lots of people really upset over this LOL. So, emergency equipment should be tested and checked regularly. Just like I check my PPE and air pack every shift, and when I was a driver, I would check every piece of equipment of my truck, every morning. Even when the off-going shift said "everything is good".

This was one of the vests in our state room. I pulled it out to see how it was stored, if the straps were let out, if the buckles were un-done or all clipped together. The light originally was in the pocket upside down and the lens was not lined up with the hole (my pic is the after pic) and the straps were all tangled up with the 2 other vests in the cubby hole where they were stuffed. I agree if the vests are needed, they should be ready to go...which I made sure they were.

Those of you that just bank of the fact that someone else has checked it off are in for a rude awakening. How many times have you seen AEDs in public with expired pads and dead batteries (they can be checked by looking at then through the window, btw), or fire extinguishers with out-of-date tags?

I bet the negative Nancies on here are also the ones that carry tampons in their "IFAK" and have never opened a first aid kit to see what is inside lol

Calm yourselves, enjoy the cool light pics, and carry on with your day, FFS. lol

What is this worth?

I am looking for some info about the value of my father-in-law's boat. His health isn't what it used to be and we are looking to help him sell his hand made boat. From what I have been able to tell he used 19' Chris Craft Barrel Back plans and has a V8 in it (Ford 302 I believe).

He milled each piece of wood himself from large planks over the course of 7 years in his back yard. The boat has been sitting, covered, for the last 18-months.

I am trying to get a ballpark idea of what she is worth, as I have found quite varying prices on various boat sale websites.

Thanks in advance.

[USA-TX] [H] Surface go (LTE), type cover, case, chargers, screen protectors [W] PayPal, Slim Pen 2

Surface Go (LTE) – 8GB/128GB, Windows 10 Pro.

Red type cover, original charger, higher powered aftermarket charger with longer cord, and USB-C charge cord. One screen protector installed and a second one is included. The case has some wear and scratches on it as it was purchased used. The device is in excellent condition. I was running a cellular card in it with zero issues.

Sell for $250 *OR* will consider trade + money for a Microsoft Slim Pen 2

Found a retailer that showed new Surface Go 4 in stock. Now order may get canceled.

I know they've been discontinued, but I did some research and some education models are still in stock.

After I ordered, the website changed to out of stock. So frustrating as I want to stay within the Go ecosystem.

Anyone have any leads on new Surface Go 4s hiding on a shelf in a warehouse somewhere?

Otherwise I guess I'll have to go with a Pro 12" and get all new accessories.

I want a new device, not used...I need good battery life.

Sad face.

The lack of spacial reasoning in most people infuriates me - especially at the single direction Costco fuel pumps

I always either 1. get behind some idiot who won't drive in the clearly marked center lane to get to the front pump or 2. End up at the front pump and the person behind me needs far less gas than I do (my truck has a 36 gal. tank) and they finish up and then just sit in their car and give me dirty looks.

I do really enjoy it though when I'm next and the front pump opens - and people look at me like I'm the idiot when I pull into the front pump. Especially if the rear pump person is now scenario #2.

That is all. Enjoy your hot dogs.

Better quality alternative? Battery doesn't want to take a charge...

As the title says. Got this as a secret Santa gift. I absolutely LOVE it, and it's found its way into my cherished and daily used EDC tool pouch. But it won't take a charge anymore.

I need something that is the same size and form factor. I use the front light the most but having the top option is really handy. Must be as bright and have magnets built in. I also need it to be rechargeable, since I always have a charger with me but not always alkaline batteries.

I've looked at the Nebo Slim mini but I think it had way less lumens, but the price is nice. I found this one for a little over $20. I figure if I'm gonna spend that, I may look for a name brand one - which is why I came to the experts.

BE3600 WiFi 7 router and 340u USB modem

I am having trouble getting my USB modem to connect to the internet through my BE3600 WiFi7 router. It is plug & play on my laptop and works just fine, but I cannot get it to get out of airplane mode when plugged in to the router. I have a Google Fi sim card in it and have tried default settings with AT&T and T-Mobile selected as well as manual settings. Nothing. Google has not been helpful either.

Firmware version: 1.0.1 Build 20250618 rel.50215(5553)

Hardware version: TL-WR3602BE v1.0

Any ideas??
