People that act obtuse when analogies are used

You know the type. You use an analogy, you compare someone to an animal, or an object, or whatever. And they simply respond by saying they are not what you compared them to.

For instance, say you use an analogy comparing someone to, idk, let’s say a cow. The other person would respond, “yeah, well people aren’t cows.” Uh, yeah, I realize that. I’m obviously not literally calling people cows. Like wtf kind of argument is that? That’s not the point of the analogy. Do you know what an analogy is? That really grinds my gears, don’t be obtuse. I feel like they’re just purposefully missing the point just to keep arguing.

Season 8 would have been a nice stopping point

First time watcher here! I just finished season 8. I gotta be honest, with a few tweaks, I would have been perfectly fine with the show ending after season 8.

First of all, Negan should have absolutely been killed. That was such a cop out, I feel like. And it’s one of my least favorite tropes. They kill all the henchmen and soldiers but let the leader survive. They must’ve killed like what, hundreds of Saviors, but when it’s time to kill the Big Man, nope, can’t do it. Did not like that at all. Also, I don’t know how you guys feel, but I think Rick’s speech to the remaining Saviors still works if he had killed Negan. And now, it looks like we’re headed for a feud between Rick/Michonne and Maggie/Daryl. I’m not sure I’m all too excited for that either. If Rick would have killed Negan, they would be no need for Maggie to go against him, and they would have continued to live in peace.

It’s gonna be interesting to see how they stretch out this show for 3 more seasons. What do you guys think? Obviously, no spoilers, please.

Character A gets arrested/framed, it’s up to Character B to prove A’s innocence

Is there a specific name for this trope? I guess Prison Break would be the biggest example of this. Although I’m not sure if that would be considered a trope, but rather an entire plot line. A trope is more specific, I think. But I’m sure there are other examples.

What makes C so appealing in multiple choice tests?

I’m sure we’ve all been there. You’re taking a test, you get to a question you don’t know the answer to, so you take a guess. You picked C, didn’t you? I know I did. Idk why, but there’s just…something, about C, that just *feels* right. Why is that?

Everyone knew but me

Does this trope have a specific name? A character finds out some information, and when they share this information with another character, it turns out they knew already…along with basically everyone else lol.

I’m sure there are many examples, but the most recent one I can think of is in Pluribus. Carol makes a certain “discovery” about the hive mind, if you’ve seen the show you know what I’m talking about. She then goes to Koumba with this, and she’s all shocked, telling him to sit down and prepare for what he’s about to see. It’s all very dramatic, and just when she’s about to spill the beans, Koumba goes >!“is this about them eating people?”!< and Carol is just like, “what?” All confused like how did he know, and Koumba just casually explains that everyone in the group knew about it because they talk to each other and excludes Carol 😂

But yeah, is there a name for this trope?

Listened to Headless Cross for the first time recently

Holy shit, what an album. I listened to it for the first time a couple days ago, and I been listening to it for the past couple days. Honestly, while it doesn’t get the number one spot for favorite BS album…dude, it’s fucking up there. That’s how much I loved it. I should’ve listened to this a long time ago. And to think, there are people who shy away from listening to the non Ozzy albums. They are really limiting themselves. Admittedly, I used to be one of those people, but I’ve opened up. I’ve really enjoyed Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, etc.

Some of the stand out tracks for me is, When Death Calls (my favorite) Black Moon, title track, and Nightwing. I enjoyed all the songs, but those were the stand outs. Bro, Cozy Powell was going crazy at the end of Black Moon, that was good shit.

Tony Martin is an amazing vocalist, he really delivered. The choruses are so good throughout the whole album. Question though, does anyone else get Dio vibes from him? I hear some similarities there, and I wanna know if it’s just me lol. Like, they have different voices obviously, but idk, they’re similar in style, I guess? The way Tony approaches some of the lines, and his delivery kind of reminds me of Dio. And it isn’t a knock on Tony, because I love Dio. A comparison to Dio would be a compliment to the highest degree.

Has anyone ever tried Tony Iommi’s Xerjoff “Monkey Special” cologne?

I heard about it a while back and never got around to trying it. I was just curious if anyone here had tried it, and what they think of it. Is it good?

Give me songs to rate based on the bands I like

I like: Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow (only their first 3 albums) Megadeth, Judas Priest, Symphony X, Lynyrd Skynyrd. AND I WILL RATE THEM ALL! I won’t leave any of you hanging.

Question about TWD universe.

I read somewhere that in TWD universe, the concept of zombies didn’t exist in their world before it all went down. It just…wasn’t a thing.

So if I have that correct, my question is…does Michael Jackson’s Thriller exist in TWD universe? Because those were definitely zombies in the Thriller video. So like, what’s up with that? Is it a case where in their world, MJ just, never made Thriller? Or at the very least, he never made the music video. Because I suppose the song can still exist without the famous music video. But then you won’t have the iconic outfit and the dance and all that. So idk.

Just a random thought I had lol.

Question about degree requirements

The answer may be obvious, but I still want to make sure. So, I’m currently taking Summer courses. I’m taking 10 credit hours. I’m taking three 3 credit courses and one 1 credit course. The 10 credits will equal exactly 120 credits needed for my Bachelor’s.

Here’s the situation I’m facing: I’m failing the 1 credit course. I’m passing the others, so by the end of the semester, I’m looking at a total of 119 credits. My question is, would they still give me my Bachelor’s? Or would I have to just take a 1 credit course in the Fall to complete it? Probably the latter, right?

It would be nice if Grizzled Young Veterans signed with AEW

First of all, they are a damn good tag team. Second, it seems like AEW is trying to revitalize their tag division. GYV has appeared on AEW a few times, and I think they ought to seal the deal. With the addition of MCMG, potentially New Day, their tag division could be GODLY. Guys, listen, MCMG vs GYV is an insane match up. I’d like to see Sinner and Saint sign too. Just look at the what the tag division could look like:

MCMG
GYV
New Day
Sinner and Saint
FTR
Young Bucks
Cope and Cage
Brodido
etc.

“TAINTED MEAT!”

Poor Bob, but man that was some funny shit. The delivery, laughing like a maniac, bro that was peak lmao. I wish the cannibals died because of it, though. It seemed like it didn’t even affect them. Perhaps it would have infected them later on.

But then again, even if it had no impact, what Bob said stopped them from eating any more of him, which was good thinking on his part 😂

In DUI stops, why don’t cops just do a breathalyzer test, and skip all the field sobriety tests?

I mean, it seems like it would save a lot of time. It’s like okay, “I saw how you were driving, blow into this real quick…” “yep, thought so, step out and put your hands behind your back”. Like why don’t they just do that?

Does it have something to do with the validity of breathalyzers? Or maybe they have to have a reason to do a breathalyzer in the first place? Do the field test to observe and document their behavior, and then do the breathalyzer to confirm? Or is the idea to have as much evidence as possible? Like if the suspect claims the breathalyzer is wrong or something, the cops can say “welp, you also failed the field sobriety test, you were slurring your words, stumbling all over the place..” that’s probably the idea, right? Build the strongest case possible, prove beyond a reasonable doubt they were intoxicated, that sort of thing?

Sorry if I just answered my own question lol.

Did Flint ever wear a pirate hat?

I’m trying to think back, and I can’t recall him ever wearing one. I don’t think he did. Come to think of it, I don’t think Vane wore one either. Now I’m curious, how did the pirates of those times choose who wore hats? Was it just a matter of preference? Or did it represent status or something like that?

Character sneaks out of bed thinking their partner is asleep, and then the partner catches them doing what they snuck out to do

Does this trope have a name? The scene would start with them both in bed. One of them wakes up and checks to see if their partner is still sleeping. Then they slowly get out of bed as to not wake them. And whatever it is they’re doing, their partner catches them in the act:

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Oh, you’re up. I was just…”

Or sometimes the partner doesn’t interrupt what they’re doing, and they just watch them do what they do. Like in The Walking Dead, >!when Michonne snuck out of bed to grab the rifle to go out practicing, and Rick just watches her!<

Similarity between Dio’s “Eat Your Heart Out” and Ozzy’s “Flying High Again”?

I was curious if there was a connection or if it was just a coincidence. The lyrics in Eat Your Heart Out go, “You’ve been a bad, bad, girl” while Flying High Again goes “I’ve been a bad, bad, boy”. Is there something to that, or is it just a nothing burger?

Hate watching a TV show is completely fine

It’s kinda fun, tbh. I’m not ashamed to say it. Watching a show that is so utterly shit, and hating on it is…idk, there’s something cathartic about it. Especially if the show started out great. It starts as this amazing show, then it just dips in quality the more it goes along. I feel like I kinda have a right to shit on it, because I’ve seen the heights it could achieve, you know?

And I won’t lie, there’s also a little sunk cost fallacy going on too. I’ve already invested my time in this product, I’m familiar with the story, the characters, I think I ought to see it through to the end. And if I’m gonna do that, I might as well give it a piece of my mind and let it be known how awful it’s gotten. “Just stop watching it then.” Nah, up yours buddy, I’m good over here. I love complaining about tv, thank you very much, I think I’ll keep doing it. And there’s also the feeling of “what if it gets good again?” I mean, I have to be watching it in order to know if it picks up again, right? I wouldn’t know if I stopped watching.

Just finished 7x1…

First time watching, and my goodness, brutal stuff. Question though. What happened to the RPGs? Remember the first group of Saviors that Darryl blew up? If I’m not mistaken, there were a good chunk of RPGs that Abraham found, right? What happened to them? Are we to assume they’re stored in the armory back at Alexandria? We could’ve used them on the way to taking Maggie to Hilltop, could have blown up every one of those Savior fucks. RIP Abraham RIP Glenn.

When the creator of a show/movie confirms/disconfirms theories

I like when things are left to the viewer’s interpretation. Like, there could be discussions on whether a certain character did a certain thing, and I could be like “nah, I don’t think they did it, because of xyz”. And then someone would reply “actually, the creator confirmed that said character did in fact do said thing”. And then I’m just like, “oh, well alright then”. Way to take the fun out of things, am I right lol?
