New England-style ice cream @ Power Cone, Arvada
Stopped in last night because I heard people say that this place does New England-style soft serve. Being originally from CT & MA I had to test this for myself. Let me tell you the people are RIGHT. The soft serve has a higher fat % and less air whipped in, using local dairy and simple ingredients. The owner is charmingly eccentric and very friendly. It is also a very clearly LGBTQ-embracing establishment, with a few flags on the walls. (both of these things also reminded me of home, lol.) 10/10 it’s worth stopping by. 🍓🍦It’s on 58th/Ralston.

Word to the wise - rookie mistake 😩😂
Y’all, don’t be like me. I’ve been donating plasma for over a year in New England, at sea level. I just moved to Colorado at hi elevation and donated yesterday, one month in. Oh my god. Please. DRINK. YOUR. WATER. I have made a rookie mistake here lol, I am glued to my bed with fatigue this morning and felt bad during the night. 😅
Shoutout to Vitalant tho for being kewl - I had to switch from ARC because they don’t have any plasma beds at their centers here in Denver. Positive experience and they are closer to me than my old Red Cross was which is wicked!

Speculate with me - do you think Ilya ever tells Shane what he said during the Russian monologue?
I always wonder if in some theoretical world, Ilya later “translated” some of what he said on that phone call to Shane. Like telling Shane that he did say he loved him, etc. Or maybe not? What do you think? Just for fun.

I’m coming (back) to the cottage and am dropping the puck for round two of the Heated Rivalry Alphabet!
For those of you who played last time, welcome back to the ice! For those of you new to the game, here is the rundown on how it works and general guidelines.
The (not-so complicated and nuanced) Game: There will be a new post every day. Each day, I will propose a letter to you, and you will comment your favorite word or phrase from the TV Series that begins with the letter. You will all then upvote your favorite responses. The next day, the comment with the most upvotes will win the trophy. We will go on like this for 26 days until we have finished the entire alphabet - together!
Now, I appreciate all the input on my recent post asking about methods to pick the daily winners. You made great suggestions. However, for clarity and simplicity’s sake, I will continue the “popular vote” method to choose the winning entries. If there is a tie, I will pick the winner myself.
I strongly encourage everyone to check back throughout the day to keep upvoting entries as they come in! Please let me know if you’re unable to see the upvote count, too! (If it's a persistent problem, I may adjust the method.)

Hey loonies!! It’s me, Blue, back from a cross-country move and ready to play more games.
I’m thinking of rebooting our Alphabet game, with the condition that the previous answers are ineligible (I’d add the ineligible phrase to each post so y’all know).
I did get some feedback that the “most upvotes wins” model favored people who saw the post early. I want to ask you all how you feel about that and if I should tally the votes another way?

forearm crutches - where do y'all get them?? usa
i have EDS and have tried most interventions in PT and orthoses, all of which have failed. my PCP agreed that assessing me for forearm crutches would be the likely best fit for my needs.
HOWEVER
i cannot find, like, anywhere that does this??? i've checked local orthotists, PT offices, orthopedic surgeons etc. and havent found anything. for those of you who have forearm crutches, what kind of physician did you get them from?!
and if any of you happen to be local to the denver metro... help a girl out!!

feeling demoralized trying to find a new job
USA. i have two mild-moderate disabilities (i can do most things, but with quantified limitations or needing accommodations) and I'm still somehow unable to find gainful, accessible employment. i have a 5-year career in sales, a field I'm desperately trying to ditch because of my disabilities. my college education is not in sales and is also in a field that's no longer accessible to me. so I'm looking at career #3 in less than 10 years, and i cant get any more educaiton right now bc I'm broke.
i just moved across the country so i have zero network. i have applied to ~200 roles that i am suited for, customizing my resume expertly to each one, reaching out on linkedin when appropriate, etc. and i am getting nothing from it. mostly ghosting, then a lot of rejections, and the few interviews i have had didn't work out even though i was qualified.
i am just mad that i have to be disabled because if i wasn't, I'm def the kind of person to do physical or warehouse style labor, hell i'd even do landscaping or any job where you have to be on your feet...so many jobs have to be thrown out the window due to my disabilities, ones that would otherwise be fine.
my partner footed the cost of the entire move ($8k), our rent here (not cheap), and even helping me repair my car when my sales job destroyed it. i have no savings, 10k in debt, and 2k in my bank account. the state DVR is on a massive waitlist. i cant even do doordash or instacart. i feel super fcked and super guilty/bad about myself that apparently i am just not good enough at anything to overcome the barriers my disabilities put on my employment.
