Sharp headaches that that last for 3-10 seconds at a time

Yesterday when I was going to sleep I got this really sharp headache that lasted for about 5-10 seconds. I closed my eyes until it passed. and then experienced it a few times again before I fell asleep, but with less intensity. And I've been experiencing them rather frequently today.

I feel well and don't have a headache otherwise and feel well physically. I googled it and "ice-pick headache" came up. So, I guess this is rather common. I have experienced this sharp headache at this spot before in the past, but not this frequently.

The headache is about where I drew on the image—right temple and where the pointy bit of the bone is on the right side of the head.

Does music move you?

I asked my friend what kind of music she listens to, and she said she doesn't listen to music. I asked, do you never put some music on to listen to? "No". I asked if there isn't any music that moves her? "No". I was just in kind of disbelief. If I woke up one day and music suddenly wouldn't move me like it has always done, I would feel kind of devastated.

She has told me in the past what her favorite song is, and she loves singing karaoke, but I guess music doesn't move her.

Árátta og þráhyggja yfirtekur líf mitt á köflum

Á köflum taka þráhyggjur algjörlega yfir líf mitt. Slík tímabil geta varað allt frá nokkrum mínútum upp í mánuði. Þessar þrálátu hugsanir taka yfir 99% af hugsunum mínum á köflum og því verulega hamlandi í daglegu lífi. Ég eyði klukkutímunum saman í að reyna að leysa úr þráhyggjuhugsunum og kem stundum engu í verk yfir daginn þar sem ég hef ekki náð að sleppa tökunum á þessum hugsunum, því heilinn minn er ekki „nógu sannfærður“. Ég hef alltaf upplifað mikla skömm yfir þessu, þó svo ég veit að ég ætti ekki að gera það, því veit nánast enginn náinn mér þetta um mig.

Ég hef glímt við þetta í mörg ár, þó kemur þetta og fer, og get átt löng góð tímabil þar sem ég er að mestu laus við þráhyggjur.

Ég reyni að telja upp öll rök með og á móti þeirri hugmynd, en það dugir ekki til, því ég get ekki afsannað þá hugmynd með fullkominni vissu. Það er alltaf einhver möguleiki á að það geti verið satt, og heilinn minn getur ekki sleppt tökunum. Þó ég átta mig fullkomlega á því hvað þetta er órökrétt hugsun, get ég ekki sannfært heilann minn um það.

Ég á örugglega eftir að eyða þessum pósti. Er bara frekar búin á því.

I looked down and my right eye started shaking for a sec

I'm an adult. This has never happened to me before. It's definitely just an isolated incident for me, but I was looking down at my chest, and my right eye started shaking for a second and kind of lost focus while it was happening. Weird.

I want to add the Ruy Lopez to my repertoire—do I need separate openings against other defenses (for when black doesn't play 1. ...e5 2. ...Nc6)?

I'm a d4 player. I've just been playing two openings: The Queen's Gambit for white, and for black I play the Sicilian defense against e4 and Queen's Gambit declined against d4.

As I'm not used to playing e4, I'm slightly unsure of what to expect really.

People say learn one main opening for white and one for black, and learn them really well, but it seems impossible not having to learn multiple openings for white if I play e4.

Recently reached 1700 rapid on Lichess and getting outplayed

Obliterated to say the least. Any advice for me? (I'm 1400 rapid on Chess.com).

Got a 99% accuracy for a 65 move match

Opponent blundered a pawn fork and the game wasn't really technical, but still.

Igor Smirnov cracks me up

I was watching a video of his. He said that before the game starts, you can ask your opponent: "Do you know the main chess weakness?", and whatever your opponent responds with, you say "It's you.". He said "just to gain some psychological advantage" 🤣.

Edit: For the ones who take things literally, he was obviously joking.

"Your opponent has left the game" message — cheating?

I've been playing on Lichess for about a year now, and I occasionally match with opponent where "Your opponent has left the game" comes up, and what I have noticed is that it almost exclusively happens after I have made my move (not while I'm making my move), and then they come back and make their move. This applies to the rapid time control.

What I have done for a while is taking a screenshot every time my opponent does this, and post-game in analysis, I can see that in almost every case the opponent made the engine move right after, and most frequently takes place in critical positions.

I have never reported this, because I take reporting very seriously, and don't feel like I have enough evidence for reporting, so I just bite the sour apple and move on. I think the kind of cheaters that are most difficult to catch are the ones who use the engine intermittently, so they make blunders too.

Edit: I'm 1600 rated beginner on Lichess, so I assume this would happen less for high rated players.

Do you regularly experience brainfog or fatigue in regards to chess?

I have these periods where I just can't seem to calculate properly, move too fast because I'm just not thinking effeciently or making good use of my time, make stupid mistakes and blunders, etc. It feels really frustrating. My game and puzzle ratings drop and I feel like I can't see tactics—feels awful.

Can it be considered a negative trait to feel things deeply?

I was told by someone that I feel things very deeply because when I recount some negative past experiences, I can't help my eyes from filling with tears, and they tend to start flowing silently.

I always try to fight it by smiling, biting my lip, etc., but it's something I can't control, though it goes by quick.

Can this be considered a negative trait or a sign of mental instability, or something like that?

And can it suggest to people that my experiences weren't that bad; that I'm just "emotional"?

I always try to fight it by smiling, biting my lip, or distracting myself, but it's something I can't control.
