Got a multi-colored house quarter at the end of a roll

Got a roll of quarters today for the car wash and noticed this. I've got a few like this, but never the end of a roll. I'm just guessing it's a house quarter.

Crate of old cassettes

Digging through storage and found a couple milk crates of cassettes. Haven't seen these in ages. I loved making mixed tapes for myself and friends.

Got my 2026 UNC set yesterday

Only thing I don't like is how they mixed the obv and rev within each mint set. I'd love to hear the reasoning for that decision.

[OC] Moon and a distant storm

Had a storm blow through the area. I took this around 0200, after it had moved on to the northeast.

Kansas sales tax token, 2 mills

Was digging through my misc box and had forgotten about this one. Found this in my grandmother's button box years ago, along with sales tax tokens from Missouri. They lived just across the river from St. Louis.

Coincidence? I think not!

Got my first 2026 coin in the wild and also found out the US Mint is completing my back order for the 2026 UNC set. It's a good day.

Question about a phrase. Is it Polish, Russian, or both?

I'm a native English speaker, Russian for +40 years, and did comparative studies of other Slavic languages over the years. I just finished watching a Polish series called Langer. I have the Polish audio on and English subtitles. During the last episode of the first season some anti-terrorist soldiers/cops are at a crime scene and the leader says, "Davaj", with the subs saying "Let's go". Even accented on the final syllable as in Russian. I was just wondering if this is Polish Polish or something borrowed from the Russian language. Давай!

Just saw Anton Chekhov's signature and was wondering of that final "в" was/is a common variation.

I've never seen it before, especially considering how many Russian names end in "в".

Feeling Old Today!

My last concert as a civilian. I was in Army basic training 5 days later. Went with two friends and my sister. Eddie was in fine fashion that night!

Seeking info on admiral's hat device

Been watching the Tom Hanks WW2 doc and saw Admiral Canaris's hat. I'd never seen this device and I'm wondering if it was Abwehr specific or just something special for an admiral. I don't recall seeing Dönitz wearing anything similar.

Looking for an ID for WW2 German SS sleeve patch

Been watching the Tom Hanks WW2 doc and noticed this on Heydrich's uniform. It reminds me of the Wehrmacht Gefreiter V, but on the wrong sleeve. Any ideas?

Pressurizing vs pressuring

I was listening to BBC News this morning as I drove home. Don't recall which country, Uganda or Pakistan, but the reporter said that the US was pressurizing the country's PM to fight corruption. I'd never heard "pressurizing" used that way. I've heard it used on aircraft. "We're pressurizing the cabin." I'm US Midwestern and I've always heard "pressuring" in the context of putting pressure on a person. Just wondering if "pressurizing" is UK usage.

Looking for ID of a language of the former Soviet Union

I'm watching the doc series of Tom Hanks about WW2 (Великая Отечественная война) and this language has me puzzled.
