Music Park night light - what a pleasant suprise!

I bought this for next to nothing on TEMU, figured it would be durable enough for my two and a half year old grandaughter to use as a nightlight.

I was not expecting what I got, quality materials, good fit, really clever design. I used some primary color acrylic markers on the inside layers and then kind of liked the wood grain on the outside when it was done so I used a dark walnut stain instead of paint.

It's usb powered wirh nice diffused back lighting that really makes the moon and stars pop. THe big suprise was that it's also a bluetooth speaker.

I've spent 10 times the amount on other kits and not been this pleased with the results.

Music park doesn't have a big presense that I can find but I'd certainly try another of their kits after this.

My poor old Eiffel tower

A temu kit i bought when I first started this hobby, it has been experimented with repeatedly.

Holes drilled, lights temporarily installed, and several paint tests, is has been terribly abused. Disassembled and then reassembled several times, dropped and glued back together, its had a tough life.

Latest test is for rustoleam stone which I'm looking at for UGears Hogwarts castle, like the results, probably need two coats and masking of tabs as its very bumpy.

Anyway, at this point it probable deserves a spot in my office rather than tossed into a box.

Temple of Heaven complete

Found this one on Shein of all places, very inexpensive.

I like architectural builds and there aren't really enough out there, not sure where this will end up so I didn't mess with any paint, could turn it into a nice piece with just some edge paint..

Quality materials, no glue needed, nothing broke. Instructions not that great but its also not that complicated. I really like the way the sections slotted in and turned to lock.

Nice quick break from more lengthy builds.

Tokyo Alley Finished.

What a interesting build. Different look that I'm used to. Very gritty and realistic, i like it. looks like you are looking down a real alley.

Took me a bit to get used to the boards being named very descriptivly instead of A,B,C. The alpha bet is fine for me. The numbers were also tiny and there were a number of 'volunteers' that dropped right off the boards so I needed to be carefull not to mix them up, part numbers are not on the parts but next to them.

As another poster mentioned there were some extra pieces that never had a place to go, they even were called out as pieces to get ready for the next step. Not a biggy, into my spare parts box they go.

I really liked the lack of 2d flat pieces in this model, that's the stuff I always end up replacing so there is very little customization. I added fish to the empty table and added some plants that looked like weeds in the front. I also replaced the cat with a little doggo. Imagine that, a book nook with zero books and zero cats!

Biggest plus, the lit up lanterns at the top, they really came out nice.

Biggest minus, the lack of a dust cover, although dust might look good on this interior.

All and all a great addition to my shelf and I look forward to more kits from this vendor.

Back in Business

I ran in to a roadblock because something was loose on the control board for the Coffee Factory and it just wasn't working all the time.

Went on the website, gave them the part number and problem, and a couple of weeks later here is a replacement.

Nice to build kits from a company that stands behind its work!

Just finished the ROKR Manta Ray for WIP Wednesday

Have you ever built any GUNPLA this will be a very familiar build very very quick. There’s really nothing to do here other than assemble. It took about 2 to 3 hours.

But it was a fun pallet cleanser, and if you know what to expect you won’t be let down

I made this one-of-a-kind miniature alchemist’s cabinet by hand

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my latest miniature project. It was originally made for my own collection, but I’m now considering selling it. The cabinet was built entirely from scratch. The base is made from clean wooden popsicle sticks, sculpted with clay, hand-painted and carefully aged. Most of the miniature accessories inside were also handmade by me, including the books, scrolls, bottles and many of the decorative details. The only non-handmade elements are the natural amethyst crystal and the glass vials, which I decorated and filled myself. The drawers are fully functional and can be opened. They are intentionally left empty so they can be used to store small jewelry or other tiny keepsakes.

This is the only one I’ve made so far, so it’s completely one of a kind. If I make more in the future, they will have different themes and won’t be exact copies.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts. What price do you think would be fair for a piece like this?

Dimensions:

Height (including the display items): 20 cm

Height (cabinet only): 17 cm

Width: 12 cm

Depth: just over 7 cm

Rolife TG307 Japanese Diplomatic Ship completed

I just finished the Rolife TG307 Japanese Diplomatic Ship. This is an older, smaller model and the fourth in the series that I have completed, so I now have the full set.

It was quite fiddly, as these little models tend to be. The small parts and thin, splintery plywood make it much more challenging than the one star difficulty rating suggests. I had quite a few problems fitting the sides of the boat and needed a lot of sanding and Durabond filler to get them where I wanted them.

I replaced the supplied anchor and chain with my own, changed the flags to red cloth, and added finial globes to the tops of the masts. The flags are facing the correct direction. With the sails billowing forward, the flags would be blowing in the same direction.

I also added some simple rigging, mainly to stabilize the masts rather than for the pleasure of tying knots with tweezers.

This was my first model painted predominantly with acrylic paints and brushes, and I am very happy with the result. I added a pic of the pains used , tip of the hat to my wife as always who helped my color challenged self pick the colors.

Overall, I enjoyed the build, and it should look good displayed at work beside the other three ships and my Seahorse barque.

Raffle prize arrived!

So happy to have been able to participate and there is nothing like getting a suprise in the mail!

Took me a bit to realize it was a Harry Potter kind of theme, very exciting. Got to go looking for some appropriate figures to dress it up.
