This globe is hurting my brain

Globe at a friend's house. I'm pretty sure there's no year that matches everything, but I was wondering if maybe someone else can get a more precise date for when this globe might have been made

Rescued a tadpole from last night's storm

This poor fellow was stranded quite far away from the water but near my place, so I scooped him up and put him in a water pitcher to stay alive.

What do I feed tadpoles at this stage of life? How long before they grow into adults?

Brain having trouble figuring out which cell to eliminate prospective numbers

I know what a deadly pattern is, but I'm still unclear on how it is determined which cell cannot have, in this case here, the 4 as a candidate.

Is it the fact that it's the opposite of the cell that only has 2 and 4? I had a similar puzzle a few days ago where the two opposite corners only had the same two candidates, but the puzzle hint said to only eliminate one of them, so I was confused about figuring out why that would be picked over the other.

I'm hoping someone who takes sudoku more seriously than me can help clear up how to figure out which cell I should look at to eliminate the overlapping candidate

How Thailand avoided European colonization

By giving up small parts of territory to the British and French, westernizing their government and social structures, and presenting itself as a strategically important buffer state, Thailand was able to avoid being colonized by European powers, unlike all of their neighbours

Found a damaged one in my kitchen - how to nurse back to health?

Looks like something was sprained or dislocated, but none of the vets in my area seem to know anything about how to get them moving on their own again

I really don't want to put him down, but if that's the only option, then I guess I'll have to bite the bullet...

I decided to brave a nasty storm yesterday by walking instead of grabbing a bus, and the wind made my umbrella pay for it

Just finished cooking up a bunch of spicy [Jamaican rice and peas] for dinner tonight and lunches throughout this week

Made enough for a family of 10, but this will last me the whole week when I won't have time to make much food from scratch

Villa de Leyva, Boyacá, Colombia

This is one of the "magical towns" in Colombia, where the building facades are kept in the style of the colonial era, which makes for very picturesque and idyllic places to visit and relax

[iOS] Even the latest update to the app on iPhone doesn't let me see anything - Version 2026.19.0

The Reddit app on my phone hasn't been working for about a month now, though it's working from a browser on my phone (which is how I'm currently connected). Even the update today hasn't fixed the issue

Catedral de sal, Zipaquirá, Colombia

An underground cathedral in an old salt mine a few hours' drive from Bogotá. The Stations of the Cross are represented in carvings on the way down toward the cathedral
