neighboring business lets his customers do donuts on his private property during the day. what can be done about this?

live about a block off a used tire shop. i guess a lot of the suped up cars go there bc the lot is always filled customized with bmws audis infinit etc. the problem is during the hours of his businesses he’s letting what i assume are his buddies do donuts in the lot of his shop. it’s causing a great deal of noise and bothering us in the houses near him. what can be done about this?

anyone else with catless dp with no smell?

so i have a boostlogic 5 inch dp that’s catless paired with the stock exhaust and it’s tuned. one thing that has thrown me off is that it doesn’t smell in the slightest.

i thought maybe i was nose blind, but ive asked friends, family that know nothing about cars, mechanics, bystanders standing behind my car while its idling and everybody says they don’t smell anything. even putting my nose in the exhaust i don’t smell anything but i do see black soot on both exhaust tip. i’ve had people tell me my dp is catted but i physically inspected the dp when i first installed it and there definitely isn’t a cat in it.

what’s up with the hate for nice enthusiasts cars outside of car subs?

i noticed this recently. so a while back i posted footage of someone running me off the road completely in my car. usually in these situations in the cam subs, people get mad at others for trying to have the right of way not moving and letting the accident happen. instinctively, i swerved off the road and ended up in the grass. i had a lot of people telling me im at fault for this incident and that I should’ve just let him hit me and dealt with his insurance.

i also had another situation in a sub where i was discussing my attempts to buy my car and was dealing with greedy dealer mark ups. most of the thread was about camry and rav 4 markups but when i discussed my markup issue when i was trying to buy my supra i got downvoted and told i shouldn’t complain about markups about a sports car becuase its “different”.

anyone think telling all the crazy street racers swimmers and takeover kids to hit the track is a bad idea?

I see it a lot on the internet that when there's a video of somebody cutting up in traffic or doing donuts or street racing the common sentiment is to take it to the track.

But can I be honest in saying that I don't want those types of people to come to the track? One thing that I really admire about the track is that it's very organized and the type of people that come are all welcoming and very knowledgeable. I feel like inviting these kids who all they want to do is just drive in a dangerous way and have no respect for their cars is just asking for disaster.

I feel like contrary what most of a general public believes, the track is a very regulated place and there are a lot of rules and you will be kicked out if you cannot follow the rules. The track isn't just somewhere where people can just show up willy nilly and just do whatever they want.
You have to sign up you have to pick a class. Your car has to be mechanically sound. It has to pass tech and most likely then it you're a newbie, you need an instructor with you who's going to teach you the ropes.

Having been in those street racing communities growing up, I know the type of people that are doing this and realistically the type of people who go to the track and the type of people who are street racing/participating in takeovers couldn't be more polar opposites.

what’s with the cognitive dissonance when it comes to finances around traveling?

So I noticed something when talking to my coworkers and my peers from college so for reference, I’m a car guy and I’ll admit I spent a lot of money on my car relative to how much income I make. However, fast-forward 18 months and I completely paid it off and i have 0 debt whatsoever to my name.

Now what throws me off is a lot of of my peers friends and families were really going in on me for spending so much money on a hobby and that it’s a depreciating asset and that money is better spent elsewhere and investments which I 100% agree with.

However, there is something I noticed. When talking with the people in my life, I’ve come to find out that there is a complete cognitive dissonance on spending money when it comes to something like traveling, for example. For me, I don’t really travel. I just use my PTO to just chill in the house play games and take walks. My friend was just talking about how he just came back from a $10,000 European vacation for two weeks. For reference he vacations about three times per year internationally. My mother is spending upwards of hundreds per dollar to fly pretty much every other month to go visit family in other parts of the United States and that’s not even including hotels, food and all that jazz.

I’m even coming to find out that a lot of these trips are paid with credit card debt, which really took me by surprise. our friend just confided in me that he is in some moderate credit card debt because he keeps going on vacations overseas that he realistically cannot afford between his student loans and his car payments and renting an apartment.

I guess to say I really don’t appreciate how I feel like I’m being held to a different standards with my finances by other people in my life when realistically, they are in much worse situations than me. This is also something I noticed in Reddit financial spaces a lot.

which do you think is more prevalent, distracted, driving or aggressive/reckless driving?

me and my friend were curious what people think is more of a prevalent issue on the roads between distracted driving and aggressive driving. We asked this because in our tri-state area there’s been about three or four crackdowns on aggressive driving in the past year alone. We don’t think aggressive driving is as big of an issue as something like distracted driving which we both seem to agree is something that we see every single time we drive on the roadway. what do yall think?

AITA for refusing to have sex with a woman who doesn’t have the same stance as me regarding abortion?

so I started seeing this girl, and we are approaching that part of a relationship where we’re looking to sleep with each other other. One thing about me is I am firmly in my stands of being child free and never wanting a child. I’m pretty young and I wanna vasectomy but every doctor I’ve gone to has refused to do it because of my age so one thing about me is before I sleep with a woman I want to understand their stances on birth control and abortion.

I started seeing this girl and now we’re starting to want to sleep with each other so naturally, I asked for her stands on what would happen if I accidentally got her pregnant and if she would be open to an abortion in case birth control fails.

She told me that in the case she got accidentally pregnant she would not want to abort the baby and that she does not believe in abortion. Once I heard this, I told her that I can no longer sleep with her because we are now on the same page anymore. She kept telling me how even with using condoms that we would be totally fine, but I don’t believe that because condoms can still fail.

so AITA for refusing sex with her?

what’s with all the tinted plate covers?

came across this car while out for dinner at a local diner. how are people getting away with this? even being directly behind it, the plate is barely legible. to add insult to injury, it looks to be an ebay fake black new jersey license plate. on top of that every single window on this car including the windshield is blacked out and you can’t see inside of it. do police not cite for these types of violations anymore?

5 round interview plus take home assessment and an internal job application. still no position

currently am an accountant at a large natural gas distributor. 2 YOE just at my job alone and have my bachelors in corporate finance.

back in feb applied to a F500 company. did 5 rounds of interviews, one being on site where i took PTO to go to, to plus a take home assessment i did on round 3 which took my 10 hours to complete. just got the call that i will not be getting the role.

just 2 months ago, an internal job posting opened up for an fp&a position on the floor above me. super qualified for it. they’re asking for 2 YOE plus a bachelors in finance or accounting. my boss was pretty happy to put in a good word for me. interviewed with the team 2 months ago and today i just got word back that they’ll be hiring an external over me.

feeling pretty defeated at this point. been trying to get into fp&a since 2024. multiple final round and a lot of ghosting has happened since then. i had multiple internships and a good gpa along with an okay university. just wanted to vent that’s all.

can somebody explain those scams where they claim to lower your car insurance?

I can’t attach a photo, but there are people online who claim that if you tap in with them, they can lower your insurance rates. exactly how is this scam operating? What are they really doing behind the scenes?

can people plz stop tailgating cars with powerful brakes?

guy in front of me i guess was dozing off or on his phone this morning. he lost control and ended up sliding between the lanes on the highway. i slam my brakes to avoid hitting him, but unbeknownst to me, there was an SUV about 1 car length off of me that ends up rear ending me hard. we get out and exchange information and he says how he never expected my car to brake that hard. he said he braked but the brakes “failed him”. like guys plz stop tailgating sports cars my brakes are a magnitude more powerful than the average car/SUVs brakes. sucks too i just finished paying off my car

am i okay with PS4S? or should i go straight to 200tw

have a track weekend coming up and want to get off my dws 06 all seasons. wanted to know if i should go for PS4S or skip to 200TW tires. i was told by some track guys that the ps4s starts to delaminate after a certain pace. for reference i have a 525whp mk5 supra and this is my first circuit track experience. so in this case should i go right for the 200tw category? i also want to be able go street drive the car from time to time during the summer.

this is my 6mt supra. I know usually these get built for drag racing because of downpipe and tunes and bigger turbos, but I bought this car to track/autocross/touge. currently have coilovers and sticker tires in my possession going on sometime this month. anybody got a similar car/build power and handling wise?

feeling pretty discouraged trying to break into fp&a as an accountant

hi all,
been trying to land fp&a positions since i left college in 2024. currently i work as an accountant. i’ve been one for the last 2 years. i knew i didn’t like accounting since my into classes but at this point any experience is better than waiting around for a dream job. i was right, i really don’t like accounting. i find it very isolating and repetitive. i feel like at this point during each month end close my brain is off bc i understand what my goals are month in and month out. i have been applying more seriously but left and right i am getting rejected.

for one company, i did a 5 round interview (final one being in person which i had to take pto off) plus an 8 hour take home assessment just to not get the job. thought i killed each step but i guess not.

recently a month ago i applied to an internal fp&a position at my company. it’s been a whole month since my interview and i haven’t heard anything else.

i feel like im pretty qualified for a junior role and have the skill set when it comes to interviewing. i study, prep with mock interviews, and ask thoughtful questions during the interview process but still no leads.

just wanted to rant, thats all.
