Not actually carrying less but I’m hoping it’ll feel like less

Inch pinch

I’m prepping for a hurricane evacuation. We have a bug out location about 5 hours away. It’s near people and resources, different climate. It’s me, my elderly mother and our dog. My sister and her boyfriend would meet us there. My mom brought up bringing guns tonight. 1911 and 10.5 carbine. I’m considering bringing 60 rounds for the carbine. One magazine in the gun and one spare. I imagine using it on dogs and giving it to my mom if I’ve got to leave her alone. What’s y’all’s feed back? We’ve had some pretty bad hurricanes that were worse. I’ve got more bullets and kit at the house, but if we’ve got to do any of this journey on foot, I’m stuck carrying it and probably concealing it… that my 2 cents and I’m looking for yours.

Failure reframe

I failed out of paramedic school earlier this year. I went in it as an EMT B. I’d done 6 months experience IFT. The 911 services wanted more than Bs. I got smoked in school. I was the only B and behind from the start. I had a sub optimum schedule working the 24hrs leading in to class. On the clinicals I got smoked by one preceptor in particular. I respect her. She grilled me non stop while I’m doing things for the first time. We got on each others nerves. I think it was the old coricullum. There was practical skills sheets and check offs. They did away with them about 2 years ago. Those sheets had a lot of open ended questions with the answers to those questions. Not being familiar with it, I barely had an answer for her. When I failed out academically I left with a smile. I’d done my best and I could go back to work as a B. In the meantime I’ve interviewed for EMS positions and restaurants positions. I find myself seriously underselling myself and my reverence for EMS. I’m struggling to explain what I just typed out to someone, like today was chick fil a, who doesn’t know what any of this means without making excuse.
I sucked. It sucked. I chose not to go back. Yes?

Coast kl35r

For the life of me, I can not get this to go back in. Does anyone know if there’s a trick?

Expectations, interested user

I’m interested in getting a meshtastic unit. I live in the US, south GA. My goal is to have communications through hurricane season and on trips when I go to El Salvador. Is this a reasonable expectation for the device and network?

Kayak

I’ve got a kayak that’s caved in all the way down the bottom. I can’t reach the worst of the denting. I filled it with water, hoping that would push it out but no luck. The support ribs are securing the cave in. Any suggestions?

Sights

Is there a particular file for rear sight notches? The needle files I saw at the store were to large and I don’t think I can do any better without one.

Blend door actuator

I’m attempting to replace all of the blend door actuators. I have 3 that look the same and a fourth that doesn’t look like the others. Where is the fourth one located? I believe it is for recirculation
Thanks in advance

Front sight staking

I don’t want to spend the money on the Brownells tool to stake a front sight post. Do yall think one of these 90 degree screw drivers would do the job?

Project ideas

I’ve got a 1990 c1500 that needs a new life. Runs good. Recently rebuilt the transmission and rear end. The cabs trashed and the frames bent. It’s been totaled twice. What’s some cheap and easy things I can do with the drive train or chassis?

Wire weld

I have bent this and to bend it back without breaking it I need another weld. I think the move is to hit it from the other side. What’s the best approach to do that?

1981ish xs400

I just got in these carburetors from an 82 xs400. I’m going to try to stretch them but I can’t explain the difference in size between the old ones and the new ones. Was this a standard upgrade for the years?

Job market

Jobs are advertising positions but not hiring. What’s up with that? I’ve gone to school to be an EMT, a truck driver, now I’m going back for nursing. I’ve got a dozen applications out for positions in the fields I mentioned. I wondered if anyone had insight aside from ai reading the applications. Thanks in advance
