I read that Abkhaz people joined Soviet Union on the condition that they will have their own republic. But then prominent Georgian communists pulled strings, Abkhaz Soviet republic got cancelled and Abkhazia was swallowed up by Georgia.

But what if Abkhaz Soviet Republic continued to exist till 1991? Would it make any difference?

I walked in a "Russian" shop yesterday. I was curious about Armenian wines but I did not see any. They had many bottles of Georgian wines. And chacha.

There are quite many Georgian restaurants in the city where I live and Armenian ones, not even a quarter of that.

I looked up, Moscow has great many Georgian restaurants and Armenians are very few in comparison.

Now I understand that Russians would rather go to Georgia than Armenia because of Black Sea.

But still it seems Georgia brand is stronger than Armenia brand.

I talked to a man who was born in Soviet Latvia and I asked him why nobody heard of Latvian mafia but we all heard about Georgian mafia.

He said that Latvians have Lutheran ethics, and people who steal are regarded as scum.

And Georgians, well, they have very different mentality and ethics.

So, how did Georgian mentality help Georgian men become thieves in law?
