Rash (beach rash)?

Hello! My family and I had enjoyed old Naples as our family beach vacation for the past 7 years! It’s our dream (great beach, yummy food, lovely people, etc) and returned home today.

The downside… i have a rash! what gives?! I have a spot on my left shin that is VERY itchy and about the size of half dollar. Its not a mosquito bite. My face feels like sandpaper, is warm, and is red and warm under my right eye/upper cheek.

Ive read about beach rash. could this be it?! it did have to break out a new sunscreen yesterday. What gives?! help a girl figure this out? (I did message my doctor with photos.)

Book reread?!?

I have been so very pleased and loving season 1 of Off Campus that I’m doing a book series reread. (read from the library the first time and I just purchased by own books.) I’ve also not read the next two Briar U series so they are one deck.

Anyone also doing an Off Campus reread?

Spain and Italy: 2027 July and August Travel Options

Hello! My family and I planning a trip to Spain and Italy next summer. August is the best month for my family to travel. Will tourist attraction be open? (I ask this as I’ve done 2 study abroads in Spain and lived there for a bit after graduation in my 20s.) Many folks take August off and head to country or beach homes. Likewise, my husband works for an Italian based company and many of his colleagues take off 3 weeks in August (we are US based).

All this to ask, has anyone travelled to western Europe in August and have a fine time?

Non-Noisy AC Units

Hello! I'm coming to Orlando for work for a week and thought that it would be fun to stay at WDW to have some relaxing fun at night. My problem... I can't sleep with lots of noise, especially LOUD AC unit. I've had great experiences at AKL (twice) and Coronado Springs Tower (twice). I'm toying with staying at Port Orleans - Riverside. I see wall unit in the photos. Are they loud? Any other non-loud recs? I will say my budget is $375/night (including tax).

ETA... please share any favorite locations with quiet (but cool) AC.

Park South NYC Review

I travel to Manhattan 2-4x per year (and have been for decades). This is my 3rd time staying at the Park South and, oh my, it’s been awful! Yes, the AC units keep the room nice and cool BUT it was loud, like a plane taking off loud. My watch even notified me my of loud noises. I had to turn off the alert. In two nights, I barely slept! Likewise, all of the double room are literally sharing a wall with the elevator or at street level. This has been my most uncomfortable stay in Manhattan! (The Hyatt Centric Time Square was even quiet.) Coming back to the room was the opposite of relaxing!

The bathroom was very clean but the bedroom portion is dated. The rooms are super small (like Hyatt Place small but this is standard for NYC.

Now you may wonder why the heck did I pick this hotel if I have NYC favorites? The points plus cash was silly good ($183/night and 10,000 points per night.) I guess you get what you pay for.

Also, I stay here twice in the winter.

Lost streak

I just lost my 250 day streak. I’ve been trying to get to 365 and last year lost it at 340 something. We are traveling and I just forgot. I know that it’s ok but I’m just so mad at myself. I easily could have done a meditation.

Ugh! I know that this doesn’t define me. BUT…

Hosky’s Music

Jon Hosky is my number 1 tread instructor! I love his classes (and he was my overall number 1 last year). What had been up with his music lately? All rather odd! Is this royalty free music or just dance music that I don’t know.

Split Stay WDW

I used my bounce back offer to plan a trip for next June. We currently are booked at the Wilderness Lodge in a water view room. I am hoping to change to a deluxe studio at WL, AKL, or Riviera. We loved AKL but want to check out something different. My question is with a split stay - Riviera plus somewhere else.

My question... Has anyone ever used a bounce back offer and bought points (say with David's) on one vacation? ( I can't divide my bounce back between 2 resorts.)

Apple Watch Calibration

Hey, all! I got a new apple watch a few weeks ago and it has been a MESS at getting my pace correct. I didn't think of it outside when I saw the numbers. I move slower when its hot BUT my treadmill and my watch are not aligned at all. My watch has me slower. I've reset the calibration twice. Any other tips. Today for example, treadmill said 2.5 miles and the watch said 2.3. My watch and treadmill more almost exact with my last watch. Any tips??

Tray Pain

I'm on tray 22 of 28 and am on a 10 day switch. I really haven't felt much tenderness or pain at all the past couple tray changes. Well... I put tray 22 in on Saturday night and WHOA my teeth are still tender today (Monday) almost 48 hours later. Is this normal? Thoughts?

WDW Trip Review

Waking up on our last day, departure day, and I have my trip report.

Day 1: arrived to Animal Kingdom Lodge around 1:30pm. We are at Kidani Village in a deluxe studio. The rooms were recently refurbished. Very new and clean! Everything felt fresh. (I have to remind myself that deluxe is NOT actual lux, it’s Disney’s highest level.) The walls are paper thin. (it gives Hyatt Place vibes.) Kidani Village’s pool is great - not huge but my son (11) loved the water slide. We are at the Mara for lunch. Good quick service option! Sanaa for dinner was excellent!

Day 2: Hollywood Studios. An absolute blast! We had a 10:30 breakfast/brunch at Hollywood and Vine. Good variety of food and adorable characters! We rode everything but Slinky Dog (we had a LL but it broke down twice - this becomes a theme). Dinner at Sci Fi Dinner - just ok. It was freezing and the car set up is odd. Honestly just make it a regular drive in and play old Disney movies. Saw Fantasmic at night and it was super cool! (We took a 2 hour break in the room mid day.)

Day 3: Brunch at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. Good food and nice selection. My husband and son went back to the pool and I walked the running trail loop and explored the Poly and the Grand Floridian. We just went to the Mara for dinner and did the campfire s mores activity. We needed a chill day.

Day 4: Park Hopper. We rope dropped Magic Kingdom and were able to ride everything in Fantasy land (except Mine Train) before our 10:20 breakfast at Crystal Palace. The character breakfast was perfection and we were able to have breakfast and lunch food! After lunch we rode Buzz Lightyear and the Mine Train. Took at 90 mins hotel break and went to HS. Slinky Dog went down again and Rise of the Resistance went down while we were mid ride. We went to Epcot for dinner at Via Napoli and had a LL for Remy after dinner and guess what?! It went down. Epcot is cheesy. I don’t understand the appeal (I’ve travel to many of these places and it’s not the same). The food is just ok and super overpriced.

Day 5: Breakfast at Boma will be wonderful and a little relaxing at the resort before our flight home.

Highlights:

  1. Rides (when up) at Hollywood Studios
  2. Rides at Magic Kingdom
  3. Breakfast at Hollywood and Vine
  4. Breakfast at Crystal Palace

Low lights:

  1. Epcot
  2. We had LL passes but rides kept breaking down. We wasted a few.

We had a fun trip! (I guess that I excepted magical moments/perfection and encountered rides that go down and there are lots of cash grabs.) I think if we didn’t end with 3 down rides this review would be more magical.

WDW is clean and I really appreciate it!

Keeping tray fresh

Hello! I’m on tray 21/28. I did a weekly change until tray 18 and am now on a 10 day change. (my front two teeth are damaged. softball accident from 40 years ago). I moved as my from two teeth move a slight bit and this worried my doctor.

So my question… how do you keep your trays fresh? Mine get rather gross at the 8 day mark. I have an ultra sonic cleaning pod that I use 2-3x per day. any other tips?

Checking In Question...

Haven't flown SWA since before the changes. We are scheduled to fly next week. Husband and I have seats together. I booked basic for me using points. When should I check us all in for the flights? I read somewhere that it was 48 hours before now BUT I looked it up online and it still says 24 hours before for check in. Thoughts/tips?
