do you sometimes look at an idol and can't believe they chose to be an idol?

for me it's vernon and wonwoo lol 😭 looking at their personalities, i would never guess they dance and sing in colorful outfits for living lol

(it's just for entertainment, i want no hate to any idol here)

does the 12 season system that everyone seems to use really include everyone?

lately the color analysis sparked my interest but since i started learning the color season wheel, nothing adds up. there are just some types missing? let's say someone is cool, dark and muted - and there is not a single season like that. when you're cool and dark, you're winter. when you're dark and muted, you're autumn. when you're muted and cool, you're summer. but there isn't a season that would fit all three.

same goes for cool-light-bright, warm-dark-bright and warm-light-muted. i feel like they deserve seperate palettes as well, not trying to fit into the 12 established ones.

music snobbery/elitism in kpop

it is one of the less serious posts, but it really upsets me when some people think they're some gods of music (seventeen reference hehe)

before installing reddit, i didnt really think it exists in the kpop spaces. most of society already thinks our music is shit. i was wrong.

look, there are a lot of kpop releases even this year that i didnt really enjoy. some are really not my taste, some i wouldnt listen to on my own, but calling them "bad"? (ateez reference hehe) that's a bit much, no? my taste is surely not perfect, but if millions enjoy this song, it's probably just not for me

so now tell me where people get the audacity to tell others what is right and what is wrong to enjoy ?

it reminds me of when i was younger and found out that it's a canon event for a girl that boys will laugh at her for liking stereotypically feminine things, like twilight, titanic, taylor swift, one direction - this type of media, even kpop. but why are we doing ts to each other

kpop is a large industry that has many genres, so two kpop enjoyers can have completely opposite tastes

i even noticed the growing aversion to mainstream. but that's about some groups that i cant mention because i triggers many. BUT it also shows in people feeling superior because they stan nugu artists with 10k spotify streams.

now if you're the type of person that would tell people openly that their taste is worse and their favorite song is unlistenable, please tell me - where did you get the certainity that you're the one who truly knows good music. explain it to me like i'm five

How many monthly listeners it takes for a group to leave nugudom?

yes i know it's not the monthly listeners that determines how popular a group is 🙄 but fr what kind of popularity do you consider the end of nugu border? how many streams, yt views, album sales? i know some groups that idk if i can call nugu, they're talked about quite a lot even tho they have pathetically low streams

unfair line distributions annoy me but only in certain cases

so i'm not actually bothered much with line distributions most of the time. i feel like they have gottrn better over the years, too. there are groups that had it really awful in the past, like bts or everglow. also yeosang in almost all ateez songs [*]

most of the time i get it. the members who are stronger vocally have most singing lines, especially if they're stable in live performances. with that logic, rappers usually get most lines on hiphop songs. that also makes sense.

however sometimes there are lines where i'm like "does the main vocalist really HAVE TO sing that line too?"

like the "nananana"s and "lalalala"s in songs. anyone could do it but they give it to members who already sing half of the song

or the verses that are just not vocally challenging

nayeon sings 3 choruses and the bridge, she doesn't need to take half of the verse too 🥀

unserious rant today lolol

songs like "odd" by gaeul or "one more time" by adp?

i can't explain why but these two songs give me a very similar vibe. i like a good dance beat that is not too loud or too sharp, and the vocals that are rather calm too

i saw lisa's sawadika preview and sighed

only bcos i know that the next days 90% of reddit post will be

"WHAT IS LISA'S ARTISTIC DIRECTION? DOES SHE HAVE ANY?"

"LISA IS A PERFORMER, NOT A SINGER"

"LISA DOES ANYTHING TO BE FAMOUS"

mark my words, yall will see cos whenever she releases something yall cant stfu about it

A shy defense of girl group stans

there's one thing about girl group stans that i admire a bit, and that's being more objective when it comes to talents of idols.

like i'll ask about the best female vocalists and they'll write "haewon and lily!" "def mamamoo" "hyolyn" which are all great answers. but then you ask people about best male vocalists and you'll get 50 seungmins and 40 heeseungs, maybe one seungkwan or doyoung. like why?

my very random kpop opinions bcos i'm too lazy to write paragraphs

1: most kpop covers are really bad lol

and i'm saying that as a member of a kpop cover team. most kpop covers look bad and idk why people watch them. especially the solo covers and especially girls covering bg choreos. most kpop cover dancers are not trained or the quality is just really poor

2: people don't talk enough about aespa's change

aespa went through one of the wildest glowups in the kpop history. like when you watch 'next level' or 'savage', they're not comparible to 'dirty work' or 'drama'. they needed that rebranding and it was spectacular. sm luckily fired all of their previous stylists that gave them horrible outfits and makeup. they also finally noticed the dancing was horrible so they got them better training and backup dancers (and better choreos overall). the directing of their mvs is insane as well. aespa's case proves every group has a potential, you just have to do better at quality.

3: i'm mad how overlooked seventeen units are

why are we wasting genius concepts such as 'pretty woman' or 'this man' on units that will never get acknowledged outside of fandom #realhiddengems

4: swim by bts is not nearly as bad as people want it to be

i feel like some people who hate it are people who need constant flow of dopamine every second or else they get bored. r&b is a genre that exists and is doing really well. bts broke through the kpop industry long time ago so idk why people are mad that they do stuff for more of a general audience. people outside of kpop dont want to listen to your click clack brrra coco loco like a stickaaaa boom boom baddabim badabum cock

5: i believe sincerely it was evan's decision to leave enha

people try to say he was forced by the company but i don't think so. there are tens of idols who got kicked out of their group and they don't treat that idol like hybe treats evan. i really do believe he wanted to leave, although it might've been a pretty sudden decision. i also think the members are not on good terms with him; i see some tiktok edits about "the members being sad and missing heeseung" but it's just a slow mo of a random clip. i also believe he now regrets it.

What are some great lyrics written by your favorite idol?

i don't really mean that an idol has some writing credits in a song, i mean that you know they were the ones who came up with these lyrics

A true winter/summer?

So I got typed as a true summer/winter pretty much equally. But what i've heard, to be a "true" in these seasons you have to be very cool toned. meanwhile, cool foundations are always too pinkish on my skin. tho i always sucked at matching my foundation. the best ones are pale neutral or warm, sometimes olive are also a good match. But no one ever looking at me said i'm warm! Please help 🙏🙏 i will appreciate literally any suggestion
