Rage Against The Machine - Freedom (w/ VJ outro Recorded from MTV 120 Minutes Jan 30 1994)

The 4th and final single from Rage's debut self-titled album was the first Rage video MTV gave regular airplay. During the Lollapalooza tour in Summer '93, MTV VJ Lewis Largent (who also hosts this episode, RIP) is talking with Rage's Tom Morello after their performance. He asks him, "When are you going to actually release a video we can play?" A few months later in December, we got this amazing video. Enjoy!

Alice In Chains - Grind (Recorded from MTV 120 Minutes Nov 12 1995)

On this episode of 120, Jerry Cantrell and Meat Puppets were the guests. Jerry talks with Matt Pinfield before the video about the packaging and cover for their new self-titled album. He explains that Sean, who did the packaging for AIC, used to get chased by a three-legged dog named Tripod when he was younger on his paper route, and that is where the idea originated. The three-legged dog in this video (not on the cover) is named Sunshine, and Jerry explains she lost her leg chasing cars when she was 2, and was 11 when they shot the video. Enjoy the first video off AIC's self titled album!

Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun (OG Version - MTV Premiere Recorded from 120 Minutes June 12 1994)

On this episode of 120, our host is Elvis Costello. He introduces the premiere for this soon-to-be legendary video and thanks Soundgarden for buying him a coffee when they ran into each other recently. This video is the original version that lacked a lot of the CGI/effects that subsequent airings had. Lizard-lady's tongue, the black hole sun itself, the circling leaves above the kids kicking on the ground, the baby turning into a CGI blob at the end, and many other effects were not added until later. Enjoy this OG version as we saw it back in the day!

Radiohead - Creep (Recorded from MTV 120 Minutes January 09 1994)

Snagging the #8 spot in The Top 20 Alt Videos of 1993 Countdown, is Radiohead's breakout video for Creep. Before the video, Phil Selway of Radiohead talks about the song.

"...the difference between the 80's and the 90's. Creep being a song for the 90's with I wish I was special, and we refer back to the 80's with The Pretender's song, I'm special - I'm so special. It's kind of a song for the 90's we feel."
