Reviews for surya hospital?

Hi! Has anyone recently delivered at Surya Hospital Mumbai? I’m looking for reviews specifically about the maternity/delivery experience doctors, normal delivery, epidural/pain relief, nursing care, and overall hospital experience.

reddit.com

I’m looking for recommendations for OB-GYNs with reasonable delivery fees.

I was originally planning to deliver at Hinduja Khar, but after getting estimates, the total bill is looking like it could go up to ₹7 lakh, so I started looking at Surya Santacruz and Surya Chembur instead.

The estimates there are also coming to around ₹5–6 lakh, mainly because of the OB-GYN’s personal fees.

Can anyone recommend OB-GYNs at Surya Santacruz, Surya Chembur, or even Hinduja Khar who have more reasonable delivery charges for a straightforward vaginal delivery (no epidural, no complications)?

I’m also open to recommendations for other hospitals/doctors in Mumbai where the total delivery cost is around ₹4 lakh or less without compromising on good care.

If you’ve delivered recently, I’d really appreciate knowing your doctor, hospital, and what your final bill was. Thanks!

Did anyone refuse the lung maturity injections during pregnancy?

My OB routinely gives steroid injections around 28 weeks to all her patients, not because I’m in preterm labor or because of my cervical length. She explained the benefits, but I’m still not comfortable with the idea.

I’m curious if this is common practice where you live.

Were you offered steroid injections routinely at 28 weeks, or were they only recommended because you were at high risk of delivering early?

If you were offered them routinely, did you take them or decline them? I’d love to hear your experience and what your doctor told you.

Just looking for other parents’ experiences, not medical advice.

Am I being unreasonable for wanting my husband to give our baby the adhan instead of my father-in-law?

I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby after a very long and emotionally difficult journey with infertility. Finally being pregnant has made me realize how much I want to experience parenthood with my husband and make certain memories together.

I live with my in-laws. My husband has two brothers, and there are already four grandchildren in the family. For every one of them, my father-in-law has given the adhan and tahneek after birth. In their family, it’s become an unspoken rule that the grandfather does it.

The problem is that I’m not comfortable with this tradition. I want my baby’s father—my husband—to be the one who gives the adhan and performs (or arranges) the tahneek. To me, these are precious first moments that belong to the parents, especially after everything we’ve gone through to have this child.

What I don’t understand is: where does this “only the grandfather does it” rule come from? Is this an actual Islamic practice, or is it simply a family tradition? From what I’ve read, I haven’t found anything saying that the grandfather has more right than the father.

I also feel sad because it seems like every important milestone has to involve my father-in-law, and I feel like my husband and I aren’t being allowed to experience these moments as parents in our own way. I respect my in-laws, and this isn’t about disliking my father-in-law. It’s about wanting my husband to have that special role with his own child.

Has anyone else dealt with something similar? From an Islamic perspective, is there any basis for insisting that the grandfather should do it instead of the father? And if you’ve been in a situation where family tradition conflicted with what you wanted as parents, how did you handle it without causing unnecessary conflict?

Cervix shortening- when is steroid injection advised?

I'm currently almost 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby. My cervical length was 3.6 cm at around 21 weeks, then 3.1 cm at 23 weeks, and now 2.9 cm at 26+5 weeks. My OB is concerned that my cervix has been gradually shortening. She has advised bed rest and wants me to get Betnesol injections around 28 weeks for the baby's lung maturity as a precaution. I'm a bit confused because I thought the cervix naturally shortens as pregnancy progresses. Is this amount of shortening considered concerning, or is my doctor just being extra cautious? Has anyone had a similar pattern and still made it to term or close to term? I don't have any other known risk factors. I did have a miscarriage last year at around 5 weeks, but that pregnancy was conceived with Clomid, whereas this pregnancy was conceived naturally. I don't have bleeding or leaking fluid, just some sticky discharge. I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences, especially if you were advised bed rest or steroid injections with a cervical length simliu. to mine.

26 weeks - Cervix shortening, OB concerned. Looking for advice/experiences.

Looking for birth experiences at Hinduja Hospital, Khar (Mumbai)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently 6 months pregnant, and my due date is in October. My gynecologist is at Hinduja Hospital, Khar, so I’m considering delivering there.

However, I’ve been trying to find reviews or first-hand birth experiences at Hinduja Khar, and surprisingly, I haven’t been able to find much online. I also don’t personally know anyone who has delivered there.

If you’ve given birth at Hinduja Khar, or know someone who has, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Specifically, I’d love to know: • How was the labour and delivery experience? • How were the doctors, nurses, and overall maternity care? • Was the hospital supportive of normal delivery, if possible? • How were the rooms, postpartum care, and NICU (if needed)? • Any pros, cons, or things you wish you’d known beforehand?

I’m also open to hearing if you considered Hinduja but ultimately chose another hospital in Mumbai and why.

How do you respond to colourist remarks from in-laws?

Hi everyone,

I’m due in October with my first baby. I’ve been married for 4 years and live in a joint family.

My in-laws are generally nice people, but they have some very old-fashioned and honestly racist beliefs about skin colour. I understand they grew up in that environment, and I’m not trying to change their mindset because I know that’s almost impossible. But now they’ve started making comments about my unborn baby, and it’s really hurt me.

For some context: my in-laws have three sons and no daughters. My FIL is dark-skinned, my husband and his brothers are medium/tan, my MIL is very fair, and my husband’s other two brothers married fair-skinned women. My husband and I are both tan.

My MIL often says things like, “A girl should be fair because otherwise it’ll affect her marriage, but boys can be any colour because they can always marry a fair wife.”

I get dehydrated very easily during pregnancy, so I drink coconut water almost every day. My MIL makes sure it’s available for me, and one day my in-laws were discussing why she keeps getting it if coconut water doesn’t make babies fair.

I replied, “I drink coconut water for hydration, not for a fair baby. If I wanted a fair baby, I’d drink the saffron milk you all keep insisting on.”

Then my FIL said, “Mujhe kale bacche nahi chahiye.”

I replied, “Okay, when my baby grows up, I’ll tell them their grandfather didn’t want a dark-skinned baby.”

He laughed and said, “Your baby will be angry at you for not drinking saffron milk and making them dark.”

I said, “By the time my baby grows up, people with that mentality probably won’t be around anymore.”

That ended the conversation, but comments like these keep happening, and they’re honestly exhausting.

I’m not looking for advice like “confront your husband,” “move out,” or “have a serious family meeting.” I know those are common suggestions, but they aren’t practical in my situation right now.

What I’m looking for is this: if you’ve dealt with similar comments from in-laws or relatives, especially in a joint family, what witty, respectful “ulta jawab” have you given that shuts the conversation down without starting a huge fight? I’d love to hear your comebacks because humor and quick replies seem to work much better in my family than arguments.

Edit: Every time I explain that skin colour doesn’t determine a person’s worth, they say they’re just being “realistic” that fair people get better opportunities and marriages, and if my baby is dark, it’ll be my fault for not taking care during pregnancy. So no, logic doesn’t work here. That’s why I’m only looking for witty comebacks.

Getting my first iron infusion Tommie and I’m very nervous

I’m almost 25 weeks pregnant and I haven’t been able to take iron meds at all because the nausea is so severe.

My doctor told me that if my iron levels started dropping, we could move to an iron infusion. My iron was already a little low at my last check, and lately I’ve been feeling absolutely exhausted. I’m sleeping 16–18 hours a day and still have no energy. I feel so drained that I’m basically bedridden most days.

I’ve been putting off the iron infusion because I’m terrified of the possibility of permanent iron staining. I saw some videos online about it and they honestly traumatized me. But at this point, I feel like I need to do something because I can barely function.

So I’ve decided to go ahead with the infusion and just hope for the best. Has anyone here had an iron infusion during pregnancy? Did it help with your energy levels? And for those who were worried about staining, how did your experience go?

I Came Back From Hajj Feeling More Lost Than Before

Assalamu alaikum sisters,

I honestly don’t even know where to begin because I feel like I’m losing my mind.

I performed Hajj this year with my husband and father while pregnant. Before Hajj I was so motivated I was attending classes, praying, reading Quran, and genuinely thought I would come back transformed.

Instead, I came back feeling more lost than ever.

I was never very practicing before marriage. I struggle with hijab, I struggle with abaya, I struggle with salah. I’ve tried so many times and I keep failing. During Hajj I missed some prayers because I was exhausted and pregnant, and ever since coming back, I haven’t been regular either.

Now every bad thing that happens makes me wonder if my Hajj wasn’t accepted. Were my duas rejected? Is Allah displeased with me? These thoughts never used to cross my mind before.

On top of all this, during Umrah and hajj I accidentally cut my hair way shorter than I intended from below my waist to shoulder length and I still cannot get over it. I know it sounds shallow, but I loved my hair and I feel ugly every time I look in the mirror. Being pregnant and married already makes me feel old and unlike myself, and losing my hair just pushed me over the edge.

I miss my teenage years. I miss feeling pretty. I miss feeling like myself. My life feels so boring now, and I hate that I even think this way.

I have a very religious friend who truly wants good for me, and I know her intentions are pure, but I feel suffocated. I feel like no matter how hard I try, I’m never religious enough. I bought clip-in extensions because I couldn’t accept my hair, and when I showed them to her, she was upset that I bought them and that I had gone out without hijab and abaya. I know she’s trying to help me, but I feel like I’m constantly being reminded of everything I’m doing wrong.

I’m tired. Tired of feeling guilty. Tired of trying and failing. Tired of feeling ugly. Tired of feeling like everyone else finds faith easy while I’m forcing myself every single day.

Has anyone else ever felt this way after Hajj or during pregnancy? Because I feel like I’m one bad day away from completely losing it.

Not able to add free gifts?

My order is always eligible for free gifts but they never get added to cart? For example you get a free wooden comb over 999+ value and my total is 3000+ but the free gift is not getting added?

Similarly huda beauty shows free pouch over 4900+ and I ordered the new perfume worth 5670 but again the free gift did not get added did not get added

Is 18w too early for anomaly scan?

Hi everyone,

I’ll be travelling for Hajj from 13th May to 31st May, and my anomaly scan is scheduled to fall during that period. Since I’ll be in Mecca, I realistically won’t have the time or proper access to get the scan done there.

I asked my OB whether I should do the anomaly scan before leaving, at 18 weeks + 2 days, or wait until I return at 21 weeks + 1 day. My doctor advised me to get it done before travelling.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has had their anomaly scan done around 18 weeks, and whether everything was still clearly visible/accurate that early? How was your experience?
