I hate this goddamn shop so fucking much

I'm a lube tech for Hertz Rental Car at an airport. I like that I do fleet maintenance. I fucking despise nearly everything else.

Flashback a few months ago. I've been doing tires and oil for a year and a half. One of the master techs quit, and I'm thinking maybe that'll be my ticket out of lube jobs. They replaced him with...

Another lube tech.

Management knows I want to move up. I ask what the fuck that was about. Get some BS corpo-book answer. Say fine, I'll look for another shop.

Well, it's been a few months and I'm still stuck in this shithole. I used to love the crew here. I was blinded. Now I fuckin hate everyone. Everyone is so fucking lazy. They just sit on their asses all day and milk their hourly rate. I'm the only one who actually fucking does anything around here. Management never has all the parts we need in stock. Something always missing, no matter how many times I say to order it. Some system always down. Some equipment always broke.

I send out application after application to shop after shop after shop. Ghosted. Again and again and again and again. This job market is fucking garbage. I even have my ASE G1 (dont have work experience for the A series yet) to prove to people that I'm not some phone addict.

Is it because I'm Gen Z? Do people just see a young person and go "nope"? I've probably sent hundreds of applications out at this point and have heard back from none of them.

I'm just so frustrated. I'm so over tires and oil bro. I'm so fucking done. Done with everything.

Fuck.

Driver here, if you live in a gated community, MAKE SURE THE CODES WORK!

I can not express how many times I've tried to get in to a gated community, and there's no one click access, no guard, and the codes yall give us just dont work.

Also, if you give us a number to call at the call box, ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE! Why are yall allergic to answering calls from the call box at the gate? I've been driving almost a year and I can literally count on one hand the amount of times a call box call has actually been answered.

If yall refuse to let us in, don't be mad when your shit goes back to the warehouse.

You guys ever have that ONE house that always orders the heaviest shit?

There's this one house on my usual route that always orders the most ridiculously heavy shit on earth. Every time I'm there its always bulky, heavy, big ass overflow. Like what are yall ordering? Lol

Arc B580 or 7600XT? (1440p)

Full build list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CtbqR4

I'm stuck between an Arc B580 or an AMD 7600XT for my build. I like the extra VRAM of the XT, but the B580 is cheaper. I've looked at some benchmarks and in a lot of games that I play, the B580 actually seems to perform better and looks smoother overall.

The main thing I'm concerned about is future proofing. I like the idea of extra VRAM but will the card even perform well enough to need that VRAM in games that require it? With recent news casting doubt about Intel's gaming GPUs, I'm also wondering if support will continue for years to come on the intel side.

What would you guys do?

Arc B580 or RX 7600XT? (1440p)

See full build list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CtbqR4

I'm choosing a GPU for my build, and I've narrowed my choices to the Intel Arc B580 and the AMD RX 7600XT. I like the 7600XT has more VRAM, but in a lot of benchmarks and performance tests that I've seen, the B580 actually seems to perform better, especially in games like cyberpunk which surprised me.

The B580 is about 50USD cheaper.

I'm putting together my first PC build for 1440p and would like some advice on a GPU.

I'm finally upgrading from my gaming laptop and this will be my first build. Full build list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CtbqR4

I'm looking for a good mid-range GPU that isn't super expensive. For now I'm leaning towards an Arc B580, but one of my friends has a 9070XT that he SWEARS up and down by. I want a Ryzen 5 7500X3D CPU, so I'm not sure if AMD CPUs and GPUs have some settings that work well together or something, especially with an X3D chip.

I'm not interested in an Nvidia card.

game crashing while using graphics mods

I recently switched to pc ksp from console, and was really excited to play with graphics mods. Game ran fine for the first 10 or so hours, but recently I've been having some sudden crashes that I can't quite figure out the origin of. Initially I thought it was a ram issue, and I did need to upgrade anyway, so I went from 16GB to 32GB and that did not help. I thought it was a performance issue as my GPU is not the best, but I don't even start lagging, I just abruptly crash about a minute or so into a flight. I can sit on the KSC forever. I have the error log here, tried reading it, but I'm not a code wizard. Maybe someone can figure it out? I would greatly appreciate it. I'll probably do a binary search of my mods tomorrow.

error.log:https://pastebin.com/BDDemx6y

System specs:

CPU: Intel i5 12450h

GPU: Nvidia RTX 4050 (drivers updated to latest ver)

RAM: 32GB DDR5

Storage: 512GB NVMe

OS: Windows 11 (latest version)

Laptop only using integrated graphics

Hey yall, I have an Acer Nitro 5 that refuses to use its dedicated GPU unless I enable discrete gpu only mode via Nitrosense.

I've tried going into Nvidia control panel and changing settings. I've reinstalled the drivers. I tried going into windows settings and selecting high performance. Nothing works. The only way it will use the GPU is if I force it via Nitrosense.

The issue is that if I end up getting a situation where the iGPU would take over to at least lag the application or allow it to just crash, I then get no display (black screen) and have to hard reset. I don't want to have to run in discrete only mode either because if the card fails I will have no way to get display.

This only started a month or two ago and I'm so beyond sick of dealing with it.

Specs:

CPU: Intel i5 12450h

GPU: Nvidia RTX 4050 (Laptop)

RAM: 16GB DDR5 (but going to upgrade to 32GB soon)

Storage: 512GB NVMe

(Android app) "media processing failed"

I've tried clearing cache. Tried disabling my VPN. I've tried re-installing the app several times. Both my device and Reddit app are running the latest software version. Videos are in .mp4 format and within the required time and size specifications.

Every time I try to post a video I recorded on my phone, I get the "media processing failed" default message with no additional error messages. Videos downloaded or imported from other sources post fine.

Why can't I post videos from my phone?

The idea that step vans always get like twice the work is all lies and propaganda

I drive step van and I get literally the same routes as the prime vans. Some routes are indeed step only but the stop and package count are the same, just more overflow. That's the only difference. Step vans get bigger and more overflow.

I don't know where this whole thing started about how we get routes with like 700 packages on the daily but it just isnt true unless its a hub route, which are usually cake.

Obviously this doesnt apply to helper routes, but even then you have the space to handle the increased package count unless your DSP is fucking insane.

Don't be scared of the big steps due to some propaganda that isn't always true. They're so much nicer to deliver out of than the regular vans. I enjoy the job a lot more with my step than I ever did out of the transits. If you're doubting me, go look at what step vans get at loadout. I'd wager 80 to 90 percent of the time its not anything that crazy. The crazy routes do exist but they're definitely not the majority.

If you hate the regular vans, give the steps a shot if you can. It seriously made my job that much better.

Need some advice on financial planning for my future

I (21M) am planning for financial success in my future and just want some feedback ans advice on my plan.

I work two jobs with a combined pre-tax yearly income of about $60,320, give or take about $3-7k because I do lots of overtime and get big quarterly bonuses. (I'm getting an extra $2k at the end of June, very proud of that) I have a $3k emergency fund in a savings account with 4% APY, and another 1.5k put away I can access immediately if need be.

The only debt I have is a stupid six year auto loan that I got at 18 with no credit (yeah never doing that again, lesson learned) that I'm aggressively paying off quickly. I've only got about $3.5k left on the principal and I live very frugally so that'll be cleared out by July at the latest. No more loans for me.

I live with my mother, grandmother, and aunt. We all split the rent evenly, its about $700 each for the four of us, each of us also split utilities. (South Florida USA, high COL area)

My plan is after I pay this car off, to help my family out with some of their debt, then move to a cheaper area once the lease is up. There's all kinds of drama in the family that I won't get into here but essentially me and my grandma were thinking of moving about 20 minutes down the interstate into a place thats a bit more affordable and closer to our work once the lease is up. Its honestly part of the reason I work so much. I don't wanna be home to deal with it lol. The places we're looking at now would be approximately the same rent cost, $700-$800 for the both of us, but would include water and gas so we'd just need to pay for electricity and internet. Ideally I'd like to be on my own but I don't want to abandon anyone.

I'm an apprentice mechanic and once I get more certifications and work experience I'll be making way more money. I don't know whether to put funds in a 401k or Roth IRA (or both?) But I know I should do one or the other and probably really soon.

The main issue I have is with eventually purchasing a home because I don't want to rent forever or make payments. Ideally I'd want to pay in cash, but I dunno if saving all that money up would be better than just buying at a good rate and getting some reliable-ish investments that could potentially outpace the interest? Its probably too early to be thinking of all this now but I'm tired of just winging it at life. I want a plan for success and I've always heard the earlier you start the easier it is.

I dunno, I probably sound crazy. Am I rambling or is this a good idea?

Broke my first ratchet today

Screws holding the lid on sheared off and snapped. Icon G2 26 inch 3/8ths drive. Held up pretty well for the almost 1 year ive had it. I was expecting it to fail in a different way tbh. Gonna warranty it tomorrow, its lifetime. Using my backup today.

Stay at my current shop or roll out?

This is gonna be long, tldr at the bottom

So I'm a very ambitious lube tech at a Hertz location. I've been here for about 1.5 years doing tires and oil all day. I'm paid $17.75 hourly with flat-rate based bonus program (got just under $2k in bonuses last quarter) and I'm union. I've worked on everything from Kia Souls to GLE350s to RAM 2500s to Ford Transit box trucks. I have my ASE G1 (maintenance light repair).

Now I'm still a novice in the mechanical field, but outside of the shop I've done things like belt drive systems, spark plugs, brakes, starters, some minor electrical work, vaccuum lines, hoses, light diagnostic, the works. I know how to interpret some live data and figure shit out. I know how to use a multimeter and check circuits for issues. You get the point. Obviously I still have a lot to learn, but I'm getting there.

So naturally, I was really excited when one of our two master technicians were retiring. That meant that in the future, I had the chance to apply internally for an actual technician position and learn from my amazing coworkers I have here. Finally claw my way up. Then, management announced that they were replacing him with... another lube tech position. No more actual technicians were going to be hired for now, either internally or externally, though that may change in the future.

Needless to say, I was devastated. I felt like the one chance I had was ripped away from me by something beyond my control. And the worst part is that they *know* I want to grow. I've talked their ears off about it. I was always told that when someone quit and a position opened up, I could apply for it internally. That's why I was so hopeful. Maybe I could finally quit my second job due to the extra pay. Do what I always wanted.

Anyway, after this was announced I sat down with my boss and asked him what the fuck that was. Apparently, its corporate's fault. I smell bullshit. I think they want to keep me on lube because I'm so quick and efficient. I turn the most hours per day out of literally everyone here.

So now I have a decision to make. Should I just say fuck it and start looking for a new shop now with just my G1, or should I stick it out until the end of the year, so I can put in my 2 year work experience form and start taking my ASE A series tests, and then look for a new shop once I have a few of those? Maybe they'll change their mind and open up another technician position? (This is probably copium)

I feel like me being a Gen Z is stacked against me. I feel like I need some ASEs or something to prove to people that I'm not just another dumbass Gen Z phone addicted lube tech who tightens drain plugs with an impact and slacks off all day at work. Every single hiring manager I see anywhere talks so much shit about Gen Z and how they'll never hire them or whatever. Sometimes I just feel stuck. Like I'm never gonna go anywhere.

I really don't want to go back to the dealership life. I worked at a Kia dealer before and HATED HATED HATED it. Ideally I'd want to work at an independent, but they're picky and for good reason. Can't blame em. Thought about going back to school, but I'd much rather do an apprenticeship or something somewhere or work my way up. Not sure how feasible that is these days though.

Tl;Dr: I'm an ambitious lube tech that knows a good amount and is learning fast, but still has a lot to learn. Thought I'd maybe possibly get promoted at my current shop but won't because of management. I'm hourly, union, and have ASE G1 certification. Should I start looking for better opportunities now, or stick it out for a bit so I can get some ASE A certs and maybe improve my odds? I don't want to go back to a dealer unless I absolutely HAVE to, would much rather work fleet maintenance or independent shop.

Anyone here run E15 fuel in a 9.5 gen V6?

My local RaceTrac has it cheaper than 87 and with gas prices crazy these days I was curious. I'm finding conflicting information online and my owners manual just says anything above 87 octane, doesn't say anything about ethanol content. (Obviously I can't run E85 lol)

I see everyone on here complain about shitty dsps, does anyone actually have a good chill dsp with good dispatch like I do? Dispatch leaves me tf alone unless they really need to call me, and our vehicles are generally in good shape. The owner is super chill and we aren't threatened at all with anything. We have no rentals at all either.

Is this rare? Am I lucky?
