Hawaii just took down UCI to win it all

Just seen the final from Pauley pavilion last night. Hawaii dropped the first set and then won the next three pretty comfortably. First national title for them since 2022. Titriyski had 16 kills and got the last one on championship point. Sakanoko had three straight aces in the fourth set to break it open. UCI fought hard but Hawaii was just too much.

USC finally got it done after two years of heartbreak

USC lost in the quarterfinals two years ago and then lost in the championship last year. eFlt like they couldn't get over the hump. This year they beat Ucla in the semis and then took down Cal in the final. Anna reed in goal had a career high saves. Emily Ausmus won tournament mvp as a sophomore. Casey moon finally gets his first title in his second season. USC has won at least one national title every year since 2021.

This Rangers-Colts series is insane

Aitcheson scored with just seconds left in regulation to force overtime again, he did the same thing in game two. This guy just refuses to lose and somehow Kitchener still finds a way. Edwards scored the double overtime winner. Rangers are up three games to none now. Aitcheson has been on a tear this postseason and Hrebik stood on his head but it's still not enough. Game four is tonight in Barrie, colts need to win just to stay alive.

does ball speed matter more than revs on house shots

I've seen a lot of bowlers cranking the ball with high revs but leaving ten pins because the ball just doesn't have enough energy to kick the corner out. Others throw it straight and fast and carry everything because the pins just fly around. Feels like on a typical house shot the guys with higher speed actually score better even with less hook, is that actually true or just an observation. also, how do you tell if you need more speed or more revs to carry better. Its like chasing both at the same time just messes up your timing.

one thing you wish you knew before your first solo trip

I've been kayaking for a while but just got my first canoe and I'm planning a weekend solo trip, nothing crazy just a lake with some campsites. watched a bunch of videos about portaging and reading wind and all that but i know there's stuff nobody mentions. The little things that go wrong that you don't think about until you're already out there like what do you actually do with your paddle when you need both hands for something. How do you keep your food dry when everything gets wet . How do you not lose your mind when the wind picks up and you're just spinning in circles. Got some real talk for a beginner who's maybe in over their head a little.

attacking when you're gassed

my biggest problem isn't technique or strength. It's my brain giving up halfway through the third period, lungs burning, arms feel like noodles and all i want to do is survive. I stop setting up shots and just hang on. I heard Ben Askren say you have to learn to function when you're exhausted not just avoid it but how do you actually practice that. Do you run sprints before live goes. Do you drill when you're already dead. Telling myself to push through isn't working.

pace a 2k without dying at the end

every time i do a 2k i start too fast and pay for it in the third 500. It feels great for the first minute and then I'm just hanging on. My splits go from solid to embarrassing real quick. Coach says to negative split but when the adrenaline hits i forget everything. I've also tried holding back at the start but then I panic that I'm not going fast enough and overcorrect. Anyone have a specific number or feeling they target for the first 500. Also how do you know when to empty the tank in the last 250 without blowing up before the line. I'm trying to figure out a strategy that works for a normal person not an olympian.

how do you stop skipping the ball when you go for too much

I've been playing for a little while and my biggest problem is I try to end rallies too early. see an opening and just swing as hard as i can, ball ends up in the floor like half the time. My friend calls me the hare from that old tortoise and hare thing .I feel like i need to just keep the rally going and wait for a real setup instead of forcing everything. Anyone have a drill or a mental trick that helped them be more patient, also how do you know when it's actually time to go for a winner instead of just playing safe. how do you stop flinching on slap shots

I've been playing for a couple years now and I still can't handle standing in front of a slap shot. I know I'm supposed to block it with my shins or my stick but when i see a guy winding up my brain just screams and i turn away or jump out of the way. Took one off the thigh once and it hurt for a week. Now it's even worse, my goalie keeps yelling at me to just stand there but he's wearing way more gear than me.

SPORTING DID IT

I just saw that sporting beat Palma 2-0 in the final to win the UEFA futsal champions league. Palma had won the last three in a row and sporting just ended their streak. Diogo Santos scored early and then they held on even after he got sent off. An own goal late sealed it. Zicky got player of the tournament too, feels like a huge moment for Portuguese futsal.

Tzolis has 40 goals and 40 assists in 2 years

I saw someone post his numbers and had to confirm. 2 seasons at club Brugge and he's got about 40 goal contributions each year. That's insane even if it's in Belgium, 15 assists in the league this season alone plus 11 goals. He didn't work out at Norwich but ever since going back to Belgium he's been on fire. feels like someone in Seriea should take a chance on him.

someone explain the headshot rule

Hi , I was watching a match the other day and a shooter hit the keeper in the head with a rocket. It didn't look intentional at all just a hard shot that went high. The ref gave a two minute suspension and i was confused. Thought that used to be a red card is that a new rule or did i just remember wrong. Also does it matter if the keeper moved their head toward the ball or not. Someone at the bar said it's only a suspension if the keeper was just standing there, if they duck into it then no call, not sure if that's true. anyone know the actual rule here. just trying to understand what I'm watching.

indie wrestling just hits different

I've been watching a bunch of indie shows lately and i just love how different everything feels. No corporate anything, just people who love wrestling putting on shows in small rooms. Crowds are loud and you can actually hear them. Wrestlers can try stuff they'd never do on tv. Feels like you caught someone before they made it big. I just wanted to say i appreciate the indie scene. it's not perfect but it's real.

how do you stop your blades from getting so dull so fast

it feels like I'm sharpening my skates every two weeks and it's getting expensive. I only skate a few times a week, not doing anything crazy just basic edges and some spins. My coach says i might be dragging my blade when i step off the ice or walking on rough surfaces but i always use guards. Also heard that cheap steel wears down faster but i don't want to drop a ton of money on fancy blades if that's not the problem. Anyone have tips for making an edge last longer.

okay so slammiversary and forbidden door are the same day but not competing

I just saw the schedule drop for June 28th. Tna moved slammiversary to 3pm eastern in Boston and aew is doing forbidden door at 7pm in san jose. So technically same day but no overlap unless you're trying to watch both live. Smart move honestly cause nobody wants to choose. Also hearing TNA might have some NXT talent on their show which would be cool. The weird part is the tension between both companies right now with Carlos silva accusing aew of trying to come at them. Its like they're playing nice for now but who knows what happens next.

so the pac-12 might add more teams before the season even starts

just saw something from the Oregon state ad, said they're gonna look to add at least two more schools for 2026 as quickly as possible . They already have eight teams which is the minimum so they don't have to add anyone but apparently "bunches" of schools have reached out already . Feels like every time i check the news there's a new twist with this conference. Oregon state and Washington state were hanging on by a thread and now they're building something again .

man that roman vs punk build and man it was really tuff

I was rewatching the promos from before mania and forgot how personal it got. Roman called punk a fraud and played old clips to prove it . Punk actually admitted he envies roman for having family support . Then Roman said he hates punk because the fans love punk more than they ever loved him . The match was just two guys beating the hell out of each other no interference no weird finishes . Punk tried a low blow and still couldn't win . Roman hit two spears and finally put him away . Felt like a real blood feud not just a wrestling match .

Hi guys , there's a guy at my gym who keeps hitting me with the same foot sweep every single time. I know it's coming, i see him set it up and i still fall for it like an idiot. He steps in, pushes my shoulder, sweeps my far foot, and down i go every time. I've tried stepping back, stepping around, posting on his head. nothing works. He just adjusts and sweeps the other foot instead. My coach just laughs and says "stop letting him touch you" but that's not helpful. Anyone have a specific defense for a persistent foot sweeper or am i doomed to keep eating mat forever.

watching your kid sit on the bench is harder than they think

my daughter committed to a d1 school two years ago. She was a star in club, scored every weekend. Now she's a sophomore and barely sees the field. Maybe ten minutes a game if she's lucky. she says she's okay with it but i sit in the stands watching her warm up knowing she probably won't go in and it just eats at me. She works so hard in practice, does everything right but the coach has her favorites and my kid isn't one of them. I don't say anything to her because i don't want to make it worse but man it's tough. anyone else been through this.
