Growing up learning history you learn about all of these protests that resulted in real world change. But it seems like protests are just symbolic at this point. It seems like no matter how many protests are surrounding a certain topic everything stays the same. What changed? Is it that people in power just care less about civilians have to say so they don't bother changing their stance based off protests?

I hate it when your engaging in a discourse or conversation online and people try to shut it down by saying "why do you care so much about this and not the Epstein files". It is such a ridiculous bad faith argument. People can care about multiple things.
Whenever people try to use this I immediately check their posts/reposts/history etc because if you're gonna say that in an attempt to seem socially aware, you better have NOTHING mindless, entertaining etc. you better only be posting stuff about serious issues.
News flash: majority of people ARE outraged about the files. It's the GOVERNMENT and the ELITE that don't care. So if you're in a debate about something you deem inconsequential, they probably DO care about the Epstein files.
I see so many think pieces overly dissecting the morality, justification etc of characters like Stolas and Blitz. I really do not care for the most part (especially in a world as nonsensical as the hellaverse) if the characters I'm watching are super moral, fair whatever. I just wanna see zany characters do zany shit.
I really don't care if Stolas is good, or bad, a hypocrite whatever.
Why is it so important for people to watch fictional media with such a critical puritan lens?
I think it's interesting seeing the contrast in the way the Homelander fandom is treated online vs Valentino fans. I'm sure there are outliers here and there who harass Homelander fans, but overall if you say you're a homelander fan no one will bat an eye. Most will agree with you. But contrast that with Valentino then everyone loses their mind. Everyone loves the complexity and vulnerable moments of Homelander. He's got several viral memes. But God forbid they give Valentino a funny line or two. The Boys gives several instances where we are supposed to feel sympathy for Homelander. But when they do this for Valeninto it's Viv just trying to make us feel bad for rapists.
I'm saying this as someone who is a sucker for villains and loves Homelander myself.
