Does anyone hunt bear in NC? I grew up there but never bear hunted and want to this year. I hunt deer successfully there every year on family land. PFA

Hey guys I really want to hunt a North Carolina black bear, and I want to increase my odds. I have places I can stay in almost every part of the state. What’s the best way to do this? Even though I grew up there I don’t know anyone who bear hunts. My dad does have a big bear coming on his property but he hasn’t baited the bear and idk if it will be there when season opens. I’m willing to do whatever hunt style I need to. Still hunt, sit in a stand, bait (but unfortunately only have two weeks of time), hire a guide, hire a dog hunting guide, etc. I’m hoping for any and all advice to get a bear in the freezer.

Good deal? Have lots of mx and street experience. He claims 9k miles. Looks like its been taken care of. Trying to get a sumo for commuting to work. Fuel cost is killing me. Need something that can do 65 plus

Let’s chat about accessories and effectiveness

I know many will say that this is less practical than a “modern” ar. But I actually shoot and move way better with this than with my dissipator. When I got my first ar15 about 14 years ago I thought I should put all kinds of cool looking gear on it. Even had a tourniquet rubber banded to the stock. Do you guys feel that retro ar’s are just as effective tactically? Do you think mlok rails, hand stops, angle fore grips, ambi safety, fancy charging handles, grips you can store candy in, 45 degree red dots, bipods, eotechs, ir lights/lasers, 1500lm flashlights, flashlight covers, trigger kits, muzzle breaks, etc, make a person more effective? I’ve always believed a fighting rifle should have a sling and a light, everything else is window dressing. Of course, when you have a specific mission calling for IR, long range, thermal, or other capabilities you do what you have to do. But for a ready to go fighting rifle, what is really needed?

Someone asked for a pic with the light installed. Amazon mount, fresh batteries. The light throw isn’t bad, but I did order a led bulb. New Topic that’s been on my mind in description.

Newbie: I got this at auction for 85 beans. Any info is appreciated. Including info on moving it.

Only drill press I’ve ever had is cheap harbor fright stuff. Played around on a Bridgeport mill a few times. This is the 15-655 model. 120v. Don’t know much about it except I know it’s heavy. I’m hoping to use it to drill through mild plate steel and maybe ar500. Or sell it, idk. Picking it up Thursday, somehow. Any info on moving drill presses without messing them up is also appreciated.

Newbie: why does my manual seem to be loaded nowhere near as hot as load info on forums? Even commercially available ammo is flying faster

For example, book says max 56gr varget for 225gr jacketed and I’m reading everywhere people doing 61+ and getting 180fps+ what the book says. Did I buy an old book or something? Are there inconsistencies between manuals? Book is Modern Reloading, second edition 2023

Stumbled upon this in my manual. Never heard of it. How is this not more popular? 3100fps in a ar15 with .30 110gr

If you haven’t tried one already, I recommend trying a the CVA Scout. Just got my second one, in .35 whelen. My .243 version has taken several deer and hogs at 300yd. Shooting a single shot is a fun experience.

Wondering if anyone can help me determine valuation on this krag rifle. Serial number 247xxx. Made in 1900 and sporterized. Bore is great. Has a Lyman 33 rear sight.

Several people I know claim 300. I don’t believe that to be accurate as I can’t find one on gunbroker for less than 800.

I truly can’t pick what sa58 to get. I know I want the para version, I’ll be using a suppressor with it. Will be used for hunting white tail and hogs. Hoping y’all can help me decide. PFA

Does anyone know any specifics about this peep sight? It has a tiny flip up piece in front of the peep, with a tiny notch on the top. It’s L shaped over the action. It has a lever that loosens it allowing you to raise and lower the sight. I haven’t seen it on any other krag rifles I’ve seen online

Help adding function- sorry best pics I have now

Can anyone help me figure out the cheapest or simplest way to add a control to the back of my tractor just to raise and lower a batwing or operate a hydraulic top link? This is my John Deere 5400 with the 520 loader.
