Iron Maiden’s '83 Dortmund gig was so brutal it was actually banned by TV for "excessive violence."
Watch the World Piece Tour as the band literally "kills" Eddie on stage.
In January 1990, Megadeth released the single “No More Mr. Nice Guy” (Alice Cooper cover), which would appear on the soundtrack to the film Shocker, directed by Wes Craven.
This recording is notable for being the first Megadeth song to feature drummer Nick Menza! This cover would later be included on the 1995 compilation Hidden Treasures...
The offer to record the cover came in the fall of 1989, but it turned out to be a problem. The recording of this song and the video came at a very difficult time for Megadeth, especially for Dave, who was so $tonеd he could barely stand and function. During the filming of the video, he couldn’t even open his mouth to sing along with the lyrics... and his bandmates at the time were having nightmares about him dying.
Film crew: “They had called me to do the video for Mr. Nice Guy, and Dave was so screwed. He couldn’t play the guitar and the lyrics at the same time. I mean, I was freaking out, I had to get this video done, and this guy, you know, can’t just walk and chew gum here.”
In his sober moments, Dave realized that this was probably going to be very bad and would end quickly. Finally, out of desperation, he called Alice Cooper and told him about his problem.
Alice: “I’m not Dr. Cooper, but I was definitely the poster boy for abuse. I basically became his mentor when it came to that. I told him, I said, ‘If you have a problem, call me.’”
