Must admit I don’t like Esme; she’s a brat and mean. With Tracey Beaker, you know why she loses her temper, but with Esme it's hard to feel bad for her. I know her mum got arrested, but Esme doesn’t scream "trouble kid" to me. Also, I found the story dull and slow. I've read her other newer books, and my fave one is The Girl Who Wasn’t There.
I love it as it doesn’t take itself too seriously and reminds me of Red Dwarf a British sitcom
