How Do I Keep My MacBook Pro M1 Display On While It's Locked and Plugged In?

Hey everyone,

I've got a work MacBook Pro M1, and I'm trying to keep the display turned on while the machine is on the lock screen, similar to how Windows behaves when the laptop is plugged in.

I've already tried changing the following settings:

System Settings → Lock Screen → Turn display off on battery when inactive → Never

System Settings → Lock Screen → Turn display off on power adapter when inactive → Never

Unfortunately, it still doesn't work. The display eventually turns off even when the MacBook is plugged in.

Is there any way to keep the display permanently on while the device is locked?

Is this a macOS limitation, or is there another setting that I'm missing?

It's a work laptop, so I don't know whether any company policies or management settings could also be affecting this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Samsung T7 Shield Users, Is Samsung Magician Actually Worth Using or Just a Gimmick?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently using a Samsung T7 Shield SSD primarily for backing up photos, videos, and complete phone backups on my Windows PC.

While setting it up, I came across the Samsung Magician software and noticed features such as Performance Optimization, health monitoring, firmware updates, and a few other tools.

My question is, is it actually recommended to use Samsung Magician with the T7 Shield, or is it just another piece of unnecessary software?

I'm particularly curious about the Performance Optimization feature.

- Do you keep it enabled?

- Does it improve performance in any noticeable way?

- Does it have any impact on the SSD's lifespan?

- Is it useful for a drive that's used mainly for backups rather than continuous read and write operations?

I'd love to hear from people who have been using the T7 Shield for a while.

Thanks!

The wait was simply not worth it.

Aligarh House HSR, I don't understand the wait times & long queues for decent food. The taste is good, the quality is amazing but not worth the wait.

Where Can I Buy Proper Boneless Chicken at a Reasonable Price?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a place where I can buy completely boneless chicken at a reasonable price.

The only thing I don't want is the usual practice where the shop first weighs the chicken with the bone, removes the bones afterward, and charges based on the original weight.

I'm specifically looking for a place that:

- Sells 100% boneless chicken

- Weighs it after it's boneless, so I pay only for the meat

- Offers reasonable pricing, preferably under ₹250/kg (or close to it)

Any recommendations for local butcher shops, or meat stores.

Thanks in advance!

HSBC Live+ (Signature/Infinite) + District BOGO Movie Offer Confusion. Can Someone Please Help?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the HSBC Live+ Credit Card and had a few doubts regarding the District BOGO movie offer.

I have the Signature variant, although after the recent changes/devaluation, it is now being mentioned as an Infinite variant. I can also see the ₹750 voucher on PoshVine, so I'm assuming my card is eligible for the Infinite offers.

I'm trying to avail the BOGO movie ticket offer on District, but I'm completely confused about how the booking works.

My questions are:

The offer says it's valid on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Does that mean I need to book the tickets only on those days?

If yes, what's the ideal time to book? Should I try right after 12:00 AM on Friday/Saturday/Sunday?

Can I book tickets in advance on a Friday for a movie scheduled next week, or does the movie itself also have to be on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

I tried making a booking using my HSBC Live+ card, but it shows "Selected offer is not available on the card selected." Am I missing some activation step, or does it take some time after card issuance for the offer to become active?

I'm completely new to HSBC and District offers, so if anyone who's been using this card could explain how it works, it'd be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Best Way to Extend an Old ISP Router's Network to the 1st Floor of a 4500 Sq. Ft. House? Wired AP vs Router in AP Mode vs Mesh

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on improving the network coverage in my house.

I have a JioFiber connection installed around 2019-20 and I'm still using the older ISP-provided router as my primary router/ONT.

The house is approximately 4500 sq. ft. The JioFiber router is located in one corner of the ground floor, and I need reliable WiFi coverage on a single room on the 1st floor towards the opposite corner, although both locations are roughly on the same side of the building.

I'm able to run an Ethernet cable between the main router and the 1st floor, so wireless repeating isn't necessary.

From my research, I'm considering three options:

  • Run Cat6 from the Jio router to a second dual-band router configured in AP mode
  • Install a dedicated Access Point connected via Ethernet
  • Use a mesh WiFi system with Ethernet backhaul

My priorities are maximum practical throughput, stable connectivity, good coverage and seamless roaming if possible.

I don't currently see the need to replace the JioFiber router completely unless there is a significant advantage in doing so.

Would a consumer router in AP mode be sufficient for this setup, or would a dedicated AP be preferable? Does investing in a mesh system make sense when Ethernet backhaul is already available?

I'm also curious about potential issues such as double NAT, DHCP conflicts, channel planning and whether using the same SSID/password on the Jio router and secondary AP would provide reasonably seamless roaming.

Any hardware recommendations or suggestions on how you would design this network would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Need Help Extending My Old JioFiber Router's WiFi Coverage to the 1st Floor of a 4500 Sq. Ft. House

Hey everyone,

I've had a JioFiber connection since around 2019-20 and I'm still using the initial older router provided with the connection.

The router is currently placed in one corner of the ground floor. The house is around 4500 sq. ft., and I want to extend the WiFi coverage to a single room on the 1st floor, towards the other corner of the house, although it's on the same side of the building.

I researched a bit and, from what I understand, the best solution would be to run an Ethernet cable from the main JioFiber router to the 1st floor and connect it to either:

  • Another dual-band router configured as an Access Point
  • A dedicated Access Point
  • A mesh WiFi system with wired backhaul

I'm honestly confused about which setup would be the best for my use case.

My main priority is getting good speeds, stable connectivity and proper WiFi coverage on that room of 1st floor without losing a significant amount of bandwidth.

Should I simply get a good dual-band router and use it in AP mode? Would investing in a mesh system make more sense for a house of this size? Also, would it be better to run a Cat6 cable between the floors?

If anyone has done something similar with an older JioFiber router or has experience setting up WiFi coverage for a large house, please share your setup and recommendations.

Specific router, Access Point or mesh system recommendations are also welcome.

Would really appreciate some guidance before I start buying equipment and running cables. Thanks!

Just Got My HSBC Live+ Last Week... and It's Already Devalued 🥲

Well, that was short-lived.

I received my HSBC Live+ Credit Card just last week, and today I came across the devaluation announcement.

The part that hurts the most is the lounge access devaluation. It's a paid credit card, so I expected the core benefits to remain stable for at least a reasonable period.

I applied for this card keeping in mind its overall value proposition, and lounge access was definitely one of the reasons. Seeing that benefit getting diluted so soon after receiving the card is honestly disappointing.

I'm still happy with the cashback categories, but the devaluation definitely takes away some of the appeal.

What are your thoughts on the changes?

- Are you planning to keep the card after this?

- Do you still think it's worth paying the annual fee?

- Or are there better alternatives now in the same segment?

Feels bad when your "new card excitement" lasts barely a week. 🥲

Kotak 811 Super Account Confusion – What Charges Will I Actually Pay? Is the Silver Metal Debit Card Worth It?

Title: Kotak 811 Super Account Confusion – What Charges Will I Actually Pay? Is the Silver Metal Debit Card Worth It?

Hey everyone,

I'm hella confused regarding the Kotak 811 Super Account and was hoping someone here could clear things up.

Back in June–July 2025, I opened a Kotak 811 Super Account with an initial funding of around ₹82,000. At that time, I got the Silver Metal Debit Card and was only charged the Super Account fee of ₹399. I don't remember paying anything separately for the debit card.

Now with all the revisions, fee changes, and different information floating around, I genuinely have no idea what I'll be charged going forward.

My questions are:

  • Will I be charged the new ₹499 program fee?
  • Will I also have to pay the anniversary fee for the Silver Metal Debit Card separately?
  • Or is the debit card fee already included in the program fee?
  • As an existing user who enrolled under the older pricing, will I be moved to the new fee structure automatically or continue under the old one?

I've gone through multiple posts on this sub and honestly every post seems to say something different, which has only made me more confused.

Also, for those who have been using it for a while, is the Silver Metal Debit Card actually worth ₹1,499 per year? Apart from the metal construction and premium feel, are the benefits genuinely useful?

I’d really appreciate it if someone who has recently renewed their account or clarified this directly with Kotak could explain it in simple terms. It would be even more helpful if someone who got this card around May 2025 could share their experience and provide the complete picture.

Thanks!

Long-Time Zepto User Here, But Today's Experience Was Too Much

I've been a long-time Zepto user and, honestly, apart from occasionally receiving products that were close to expiry, I never really had any major issues with them.

In fact, I've been ordering a particular product from Zepto every week for the last 5 months without any problems.

But today was the final straw.

I received a tampered product, something that was very obvious upon inspection. Naturally, I reached out to their support team and went through multiple rounds of emails back and forth, expecting them to at least investigate the issue properly.

Instead, their response was basically that the post-delivery picture shows the product was intact, so according to them there was no issue.

I genuinely don't understand how a delivery photo taken from a distance is supposed to prove whether a product was tampered with or not. The entire conversation felt like they had already made up their mind before even considering the customer's side.

What's frustrating is that this isn't someone trying the platform for the first time. I've been a regular customer for months and have spent a decent amount with them over time.

On asking them for the delivery images they don't give that as well.

What a bunch of retards

Shyamoli Paribahan vs Dream Cruiser (Bhubaneswar → Bangalore) – Which One Should I Choose?

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to travel from Bhubaneswar to Bangalore by bus and have shortlisted two operators:

- Shyamoli Paribahan (Volvo 9600 Multi-Axle)

- Dream Cruiser Travels (BharatBenz)

Since it's a very long journey, I'm looking for opinions from people who have actually traveled with either of them.

A few things I'd like to know:

- Which one is more comfortable for such a long route?

- How is the ride quality of the Volvo 9600 vs BharatBenz?

- Punctuality and staff behavior?

- Cleanliness of the bus and sleeper berths/seats?

- Rest stops and overall travel experience?

- Any issues I should be aware of before booking?

If you've traveled on the Bhubaneswar-Bangalore route with either of these operators, please share your experience and which one you'd recommend.

Thanks in advance!

Thoughts on this by Zara

This fragrance is really impressive, and the dry down is exactly the kind of scent profile I enjoy. For anyone who has used it, how is the performance, and would you say it’s worth buying?
