Recommendations?

I feel kinda stuck. I want to try animatic dermatology but it’s hard with my atopic dermatitis and my very very very sensitive and dry skin. What would be effective yet safe for my skin condition(s)? Fitzgerald Skin Type 4 as well!

Non-Steroid Cream Support

I’ve failed steroid creams, a steroid shot, Protopic is unbearable with the burning/itching, Adbry, phototherapy, and feels like Dupixent is losing efficacy. I want to hold off on Rinvoq or Cibinqo due to its side effects, so I wanted to see if my Kaiser derm would support me trying Opzelura or VTAMA or any other cream that’s not a steroid.

Anyone have any experiences with Opzelura, VTAMA, Eucrisa, Zoryve, etc? Side effects, efficacy, how long it took you to see/feel a different, all of it.

Waitlist for Dermatology

I recently got lucky and snagged a dermatology appointment, although it’s a little far out but still valuable.

Am I able to call and ask to be put on another dermatologist’s waiting list that I like and see if that doctor can see me sooner? Both doctors are from the same service area so I’m hoping that’s a possibility.

Step Therapy

Can Kaiser dermatologists or Kaiser doctors in general bypass Kaiser’s step therapy rule? For example, I’ve failed multiple therapies for my eczema and seems like Methotrexate is the next step, however I’m leaning towards Rinvoq and so is my dermatologist.
What does the process of bypassing step therapy look like for doctors to get the drug their patients need covered?

Methotrexate vs Rinvoq vs Cibinqo vs etc for Eczema

Been an atopic derm patient since 2. Tried steroids, phototherapy, Adbry, and now Dupixent. Next step should be Methotrexate or JAKs according to my dermatologists

What are the safety profiles of each drug?

Side effects and strengths of each drug?

How well does it work for atopic dermatitis and do they require regular lab work? If so, what lab work do I need done?

Inspect Shot First

Been on Dupixent since October 2025 for my eczema. Took my shot today and noticed it hurt more than usual, took longer, was stuck at the bottom for a long time, left a lot of fluid out, and left me with a raised bump on my belly.

I knew something was off because I’ve never had an experience like that. Turns out, the needle inside was BENT. Like a significant amount. I’m surprised it actually went in and delivered (most) of the medicine. Learning lesson for me to check the needle after taking the cap off and before injecting.

Kaiser Dermatologist

Has anyone had an appointment with Dr. Jasdeep Sharma, M.D. at Kaiser South Sacramento? He seems like the top doctor in NorCal for treating atopic dermatitis (eczema).

Outside Referral Anywhere

It was a hassle enough to get a referral from my PCP to Dermatology. It started off with me asking for a referral to actually address my eczema by a derm, something never done before for me at Kaiser. I did have two telederms with my pediatrician at Kaiser, but that was it then. He said we’ll take pictures and see what he says… Alright. Takes pictures and sure enough, dermatology wants me to be seen. For the record, I’m being treated and my treatments are improving my symptoms but I feel like I’m not being taken care of as much as a patient should be. Dermatologists at Kaiser are always so quick with appointments, overworked, and sometimes misdiagnose due to their high volume of patients and just genuinely needing to get to their other patients. I believe my problem is my skin issues are not being addressed adequately and in a timely matter. It’s always to try this first then we’ll try the next thing, but sometimes the severity of symptoms warrant the higher form of treatment. Something Kaiser doctors cannot due to the cost-saving system they have.

I am hoping and wondering if Kaiser would somehow refer me out to any other system (Kaiser, UCDavis, UCSF, anywhere) so my concerns can be addressed in a reasonable amount of time. I believe waiting a month and some change to only get a 15 minute “exam” is INSANE AND GREEDY. Hoping someone has an answer and or advice. Thank you all.

EDIT: Does Kaiser have teaching hospitals where appointments are longer because residents AND doctors are both meeting with patients? Kind of like Stanford and or UCSF.

How to Use Azelaic Acid Safely

19M, 5’8, 200lb, CA, USA

My derm just prescribed me Azelaic Acid 15% for my face due to my hyperpigmentation. I have eczema and sensitive skin. How do I use it safely? Also, what else can it help with?

Azelaic Acid 15%: Hypopigmentation Concerns How to Reverse

My dermatologist just prescribed me Azelaic acid 15% for my hyperpigmentation, BUT I already have lighter spots on my face due to my steroid use for eczema. I want to know if it’ll make my light spots worse or just even out my face?

Cosmetic Dermatology

Hello everyone,

I’m wanting to see what procedure would be best for my skin type. I have Fitzpatrick skin type 3, I do have Atopic Dermatitis no active flares on face which is being treated by Dupixent and Protopic, and pretty sensitive skin. What procedures would be safest for my face’s skin type to even out skin tone and smooth out any acne or just general texture?

Is Member Outreach and Physician Selection line the place to call to inquire about doctors’ bedside manner and reviews from patients? Or is it better to call their front desk in their department for better/more accurate answers?

I’m looking for a new doctor. I just feel like my current PCP isn’t doing that well as before. When family or my partners comes with me for my appointments, it’s suddenly 30 minutes long and very detailed. Not what I’m looking for.

Question is, anyone in NorCal Central Valley have any of these doctors for their PCP and can share their experiences? Bedside manner, overall vibe, knowledge, everything. Thank you so much! I’ll put the names of doctors I find appealing.

-Dr. Brian Dolnick, D.O. (Modesto Medical Center/Offices)

-Dr. Sachidanand Prabhu, M.D. (Modesto Medical Center/Offices)

-Dr. John Oide, M.D. (Elk Grove Big Horn Medical Offices)

-Dr. Desmond Tan, M.D. (Elk Grove Big Horn Medical Offices)

-Dr. Ratandeep Patel, M.D. (Pleasanton Medical Offices)

-Dr. Gurmeet Sidhu, M.D. (Fairfield Medical Offices)

Good Internist MD/DO

Anyone who has Kaiser Permanente in Stockton: Any recommendations for a good male Internal Medicine PCP? Looking to change from Family Med to Internal Med.

Will my current KP PCP be notified if I leave his practice? I’m also hoping to switch to either an Internal Med physician or another family medicine doctor but none are accepting new patients. Is there a way to override this? Thank you
