Sons best friend is in his class.. worried about him focusing in school

Last year, my son was “behind” because he scored so low on tests since he was rushing through the tests so he can get done with them and hang out with his friends faster. I had a talk with him about slowing down, and he finally did which made his test scores much higher and had him not be in small groups for extra help (which there is NOTHING wrong with needing extra help, but I knew he didn’t need it and only qualified for it since he was rushing through tests on purpose and getting answers wrong.

One of his best friends is in his class this year. Last year, my son made friends with new kids in his class and all he cared about was rough housing his friends and goofing off with them… I was constantly getting emails from his teacher about his behavior. I’m worried because one of his good friends from the sport that they both play are in the same class, so I know for sure they’re gonna wanna goof off together and be wild. When my son gets together with friends, he unfortunately gets too wild and doesn’t listen to his teachers directions. Since him and that one friend from the sport are in the same class, I’m extra worried because my son gets super hyper and rough houses and plays with his friend and often doesn’t listen to his teacher, which results in me getting constant emails. What can I do????

Am I being selfish?

I’m new to my job and worked at this daycare for one month now. Without asking me, my boss scheduled me from 9am to 6pm which is close. I got sick of it because I sometimes got out a little later than 6pm and I hated it because it was less time than I got with my 7 year old. Some other woman, who are mothers, have younger children (6 months+) but their kids are in the daycare too, so their able to see them throughout the day. But they sometimes close. But for me, I closed everyday. Some other woman who have kids around the same age as mine, barely or even never closes and gets out earlier than 6pm. Is it selfish of me to tell my boss the latest I could work is 5pm, purposely so I can go home earlier and spend a little over an hour more with my son?

Day camps or any places where my kid can stay for the day while I work?

I work 9am to 6pm Monday-Friday and I feel bad for my 7 year old because he’s stuck at home pretty much all day. My mom watches him and she has a lot of health problems and isn’t able to take him anywhere. I feel bad because all he does is sit at home and watch tv for pretty much the whole day. All his friends are busy and on vacation so he can’t play with them.

Are there any camps or places for him to stay for the day everyday that he can be around other kids and play?

What's one of the funniest things Carrie has said on the show?

My absolute favorite thing Carrie has said was the pole dancing episode when they invited those people over for dinner and the woman asked carrie if she had any ‘tats’ and Carrie said “tattoos? No, I have a job” that is one of the best lines she has ever said on the show, it’s so funny.

Mom guilt for not wanting to take my son anywhere after a long day at work

My boy has SO much energy. His grandpa would take him to the park for hours and hours and then he’ll still want to go places when I get out of work like the indoor jump place and want to spend hours there. I’m SO excited to see my kid after I get out of work after a long day, but the last place I want to go after work is the park or the indoor trampoline place. I’d rather just cuddle with him on the couch and watch a movie than take him somewhere like a kids place. I’d rather watch the movie with him on the couch and then take him somewhere on the weekend when I don’t have work and I can stay all day with him and have more energy to take him there and play with him because after work, all my energy is drained from me and i just want to relax and be with my son on the couch. He has so much energy that if I didn’t take him anywhere after he came home from the beach, he would be bouncing off the walls and super super hyper until I would finally take him somewhere to get his energy out.

Anyone else have kids like this?

AITA for parking here still?

So I pulled up a little past this parking space because I was going to back in. This other lady thought I was going past the parking space, so she was going to park there. I put my brakes on, put it in reverse and waited for her to leave before she I backed into the space. AITA for doing this? I intended to take that spot before that lady even pulled up behind me. I kept my brakes on and waited for her to drive away and then I backed in. The thing is, I admit that I parked in a spot that was the wrong direction as I was driving in since I drove past that spot so I can back into it, and I had to fix my parking a few times to make myself straight.

What would you do if you were in Doug and Carrie’s situation?

When Deacon and Kelly “steal” the Shmenkmans from them.

Is it wrong of me to take my child to a difference church for VBS?

The church that we attend regularly, their VBS isn’t until August, but I saw another church where I never attended has their VBS the beginning of July. I made sure to check out that church and make sure it’s a good church with good beliefs before I registered him for their VBS. Of course, I’m gonna send my son to our church’s VBS, but I just think it’ll be good for him to attend VBS and learn about God for a few hours a day for a week. Plus, it gives him something to do during the day while I work and are unable to take him anywhere. Is it wrong that I take my kid to another church for their VBS?

Is this “normal” behavior?

My 7 year old is an only child. He often gets together with his 4 year old cousin, who is not yet potty trained. He hung out with his cousin today, whom he had a few potty accidents. At night after his cousin was dropped back off at home, my son was watching tv when all of a sudden, he told me that he had an accident. I was giving him a shower and I asked if he did it because his cousin peed his pants, and my son admitted to me that he did and he hold me he wanted to be like his cousin. My son is obviously potty trained so him having accidents is very unusual. Is this “normal” behavior for him to want to copy his cousin by having potty accidents like his cousin? My son has been potty trained since he was 3, so it’s very unusual for him to have accidents and I doubt it was just a coincidence that he had an accident too when his cousin was over at my house and had a few accidents today.

Found their number from an old screen shot.. would it be weird to text them?

So about a week ago, my son’s friend’s mom went up to me at the park, asking for my number because she wanted to invite my son to his friend’s birthday party. I gave her my number and she was supposed to text me the details of the birthday, but never did. I’m guessing she wrote my number down because she wouldn’t have just went up to me and told me how much her son wanted to invite my son to his birthday party and how excited he was and then not end up texting me. I feel awful because I ended up not obviously going because I never got her text, so she probably thinks I stood them up or something. I was going through my phone today and I happen to see an old message that I still had on my phone from that same kids dad saying he’s coming to my son’s birthday party back in 2025. Would it be weird to text them and apologize about the party and say something about getting the boys together this summer, or should I let it go? I don’t know what I would say about finding their number since last week, the mom gave me her number so they might wonder how I got their number.
