Realizing I’m missing ALL the basic fundamentals: i quit lessons early and now I’m stuck. How do I level up?

Hey everyone!!
So I’m kind of in a weird spot with my piano journey. I took classes for a couple of months (intensive classes) a while back, but they were super expensive and honestly felt like a waste of time (i don’t even know what the hell is major and minor, which shows that i really was wasting time there), so I’ve been teaching myself since, although i only just realized i’ve been missing the basics i thought piano was just about learning new songs and finger positions until recently)
I’m currently confused about where I actually stand. I see people online talking about "scales" and "arpeggios", I’d never even heard of those until I looked them up on YouTube recently to start practicing them on my own
(I think I’m around an intermediate level, but honestly I don't even know what “grade” I'd be)

Also, I have a major hurdle: I learned everything using Solfège (Do, Re, Mi...) instead of the A B C system😭
Should I force myself to learn the letter system, or does it not matter?

Most importantly: I really want to level up and become genuinely skilled. Like, beyond just memorizing a song, I want to actually build proper technique and sound like a pro

If you're an advanced/pro pianist, what are the absolute MUST-knows I should be focusing on right now? What drills, theory, or habits made the biggest difference for you?

i’ve gotten so lazy and keep using youtube tutorials to learn piano instead of actual sheet music😭

Hey guys, piano player here and I’m kind of disappointed in myself lol
It’s been a really long time since I last read sheet music. I’ve gotten super lazy lately, so instead of actually reading the notes for a new piece, I just end up watching those YouTube tutorials online to learn it

I really want to change this and actually learn how to sight-read properly
Back when I used to read music, I had this habit of writing the note name under literally every single note. It made the page look so messy, and honestly, it felt like a total waste of time idk
Long story short... how do y’all genuinely sight-read? Is there a better way to learn without writing everything down, or any tips for breaking the YouTube tutorial habit?

Would horseback riding be a good way to get back into shape after years of being inactive?

I’ve always been that horse-obsessed kid growing up, and like 5 years ago I finally took lessons, but my instructor kept putting me on this super stubborn horse that never listened to me no matter how hard I tried to befriend it😭
I ended up having a really bad fall, scraped up my whole left side super deep and just quit

I haven’t done any sports since then, so I’m REALLY out of shape now, I’ve also been feeling noticeably weaker lately, which is weird because I was always pretty athletic growing up (I was a swimmer for like 7-8 years)
I really want to start exercising again, but I’m struggling to find something I’ll actually stick to
And there’s a stable super close to me now, so I started wondering if horseback riding could actually be a good way for me to get active and rebuild some strength/fitness while doing something I’ve always loved💕

Transferring from medical school in Morocco to France: Everything i need to know/prepare before

I’m currently studying medicine in Morocco and I’ve been seriously considering moving to France to continue my medical studies
I’m fluent in French, so language isn’t really my main concern, but I honestly have no idea where to even start with the whole process

Ideally, I would like to transfer during my 3rd or 4th year and continue from roughly the same level rather than starting medicine all over again
I’m trying to figure out how realistic this actually is for someone coming from a Moroccan medical school

For people who have done this, or know someone who has, I’d really appreciate some insight into:
• How difficult is it to transfer into a French medical school from a Moroccan university?
• Is it possible to enter directly into an advanced year, or do international students usually have to restart some/all of their studies?
• How does France evaluate the years/subjects already completed abroad? Do they look at transcripts, course descriptions, credits, exams, etc.?
• Is it possible to apply to several universities, or are there only certain universities that accept transfers from abroad?
• How competitive is it? Is it basically impossible unless you have very high grades?
• Are there specific exams, interviews, entrance tests, or other requirements for someone transferring from Morocco?
• What documents should I start preparing now, before actually applying?
• Does being fluent in French make the process significantly easier, or are there still language requirements/certifications?
• If some of my previous coursework is not recognized, would I have to redo only those subjects or potentially an entire year?

And then there’s the financial side, which I know almost nothing about😭
• For someone studying medicine at a public university in France, what should I realistically expect to spend per month?

I’d especially like to know about:
• tuition/university fees
• rent
• groceries
• transportation
• health insurance/other administrative costs
• books/materials
• any other expenses international students tend to forget about

I’m not necessarily looking at Paris either. I’m open to different cities/universities if that makes the process or cost of living more manageable

Which country is best for medical school as an international student without restarting?

Hi! I'm currently studying medicine in my home country (Morocco) and I'm considering transferring to another country to continue medical school

I'm looking for countries/universities where international students can transfer without having to restart from Year 1, ideally by having their previous years/credits recognized

What countries would you recommend for this? I'd also really appreciate hearing from people who have actually transferred or are studying medicine abroad as international students

Websites to buy cheap books

I’m from Morocco
so if anyone in Morocco as well knows any websites where i can buy cheaper English books please share with me

A book in bookstores is 150-200 MAD so it’s really too expensive to buy (it might be affordable and even reasonable in some countries but pls keep in mind that incomes are very different here, so 200 MAD is a pretty big deal for a single book)

I can only find non official “printed books” (which are cheap but they look weird😭 either taller or larger, and some pages are either repeated or missing which i don’t like, even the quality paper is really bad)
