I saw some old posts

and I was completely vexed.

This got me thinking, about drawing the line between historical framework and the characters responsibilities in the setting.

\-I heavily disagreed with the take about Mdzs being historical fiction ( it doesn't take place in a specific dynasty or era). This is a Xianxia, though it does have some historical inspirations it's by no means takes place in a specific time in chinese history.

\-Secondly, trying using historical context to try to explain why the characters didn't help Wei Wuxian even if they knew the Wen Remnants were innocent goes against one of the core themes of the novel,

That the Cultivation World is extremely hypocritical and corrupt,they don't care about righteousness, despite preaching it all the time.

Not to mention They are ruled by a mob mentality.

In short they only care about power. What's right is what is convenient at the moment and the mob decides what that is.

\-Thirdly,Saying that the Leaders couldn't help because of the law is wrong,we see multiple times throughout the book that people don't care about the state of the Wen Remnants because they deeply despise them, including Jiang Cheng.

His clan was in a good state by that point,so saying that he was in a Vulnerable position doesn't work,he could have done the bare minimum and told Nie Mingjue why he owed the Wen Siblings, but chose to add fuel to the fire instead.

(Jin Guangyao tells Jiang Cheng that the sects were jealous of his success,so they drove a wage between them. Implying that things would have turned out differently if JC had supported WWX),

There was nothing stopping any of the sects from investigating the allegations of abuse at the camps (It had inspectors from all four sects).

Nobody was obligated to take part in the Seige, but they all choose to participate anyway !

And if this was justified,why did they cover up the events of the siege and hid the corpses in the blood pool ? Why couldn't Ouyang-zongzhu bring himself to tell the truth to his son if he thought they were in the right ?

I already made a post,but I feel that one didn't properly address the core issues properly so I made a new one.

I was very vexed.

I understand that nobody here was trying to condone the Clans,they were just trying to explain their actions, but I heavily disagree with their explanation behind their actions !

This got me thinking a lot about drawing the line between the characters responsibilities and what was justified in that era.

So I choose to make a post about my own opinion on this topic.

I saw this old post, and I was deeply vexed !

I disagree with everything the op said there, because Mdzs is a Xianxia,sure Mxtx really did have some historical inspirations,but it's not strictly a novel set in a specific dynasty with its own emperor,its its own world ! Therefore using an argument about how things were historically doesn't work quite work in this fantasy novel !

Trying to view this through historical lenses doesn't really work,the main reason is because the sects are massive hypocrites who disobey their own rules when it suits them.(I forgot to add that point earlier).

Secondly, my main issue is using this Historical Lense shouldn't and doesn't absolve the Sect Leaders of their inactions, because one of the themes imo is that the people in power had much many opportunities to help and make a difference but didn't, and the mob mentality of the Cultivation World , regardless of the historical context if there actually is any here.

How would she have handled things differently and how would this have affected others perception of her ?

They um, aren't exactly the best type of people ,where are they going to end up on when they die ? 😕🤔

-The Intruders Rouge Arrancar from Aizens army,they are actually threatening,they can successfully land a few fatal blows,otherwise Aizen wouldn't have recruited them into his army leadership positions.

-They break into the homes of the Captains in the middle of the night with the intent to steal some of their belongings and something VERY, VERY, VERY PRECIOUS that should not be stolen or they are here to kill someone.

-The thieves are actually quite dangerous enough to be able to land a few fatal blows, and injure their lieutenants, forcing the Captain in question to unleash the full power of their Bankai to stop them !

-They are petty enough to wreck their stuff and they also insult them ,that they just happen to overhear ,depending on who they pick, it's a different insult for each captain).
