3440x1440p or 4k for single player gaming?

Hi! im getting a new monitor for my gaming pc, should i get a 34" 3440x1440 or 32" 4k? both are almost identical (only difference is one is a slightly older panel with a different subpixel layout) i only play single player games. im upgrading from 16" 1080p, so the ultrawide will be a little less sharp than im used to. which is best?

is the 5080 a 4k or 1440p card?

some people say the 5080 is great for 4k, others say its more of a 1440p card. which should i use for my 5080 for single player games?

is the 5080 enough for future proof 4k?

so basically i got a 5080 and have the following dilemma: do i go 4k for insane visuals, but lower fps and not so future proof, or 1440p and get higher fps, more future proof, but looks worse? i only play single player games, and my card needs to last 4-6 years playing all the new games at highest settings, ideally with path tracing if the game supports it. i dont want to waste my card, but equally dont want to overestimate it and be forced to lower settings or upgrade sooner than i want to

Why do so many people hate the 5080?

the 5080 seems to get so much hate, i wondered why exactly? i get it doesnt have 24gb vram, but still it seems odd. i know the 5070 ti is better value at msrp, but i got my 5080 at msrp but the 5070 ti's were all way over so the 5080 was actually the better value card
