David Tennant mentioned Rivals Season 3 plans on Radio 2 yesterday morning

David Tennant mentioned on Radio 2 yesterday morning that Season 3 is apparently in the planning stages, although he said he hasn’t personally heard much beyond that yet.

Considering how successful Rivals has been, it feels inevitable at this point.

What do people think — do we get an official renewal announcement soon?

SEGA plans 4 major new games by 2027 - what do you think they are?

SEGA says it plans to release four major new titles based on its mainstay IPs before April 2027, according to its latest financial report.

Source:
GameWatcher article

A few projects people are already speculating about:

  • Persona 4 Revival
  • New Virtua Fighter
  • Total War: Warhammer 40K
  • Stranger Than Heaven
  • Possible Crazy Taxi / Jet Set Radio revivals

What do you think the four games are? And which SEGA franchise deserves a comeback most? More Streets of Rage would be good. Alien is in development, but probably not until 2027.

Paradox is publishing Transport Fever 3

Paradox announced a publishing partnership with Urban Games for Transport Fever 3, which honestly feels like a pretty natural fit given the audience overlap.

https://www.gamewatcher.com/news/paradox-interactive-announces-publishing-partnership-with-urban-games-for-transport-fever-3

The Transport Fever series has always sat somewhere between:

  • transport tycoon
  • logistics sim
  • management sandbox

Paradox has obviously spent years building an audience around complex simulation/strategy games and long-tail community support. DLC hasn't always been the best, and sometimes patches break more than they add, but long-term support is usually there, even if the game starts out badly in terms of reception.

What caught my attention is that TF3 seems to be leaning even harder into:

  • infrastructure management
  • economy simulation
  • modding support
  • long-term tycoon gameplay

Apparently, they’re also pushing curated mods and cross-platform mod support pretty heavily this time around.

Feels like the kind of game that could land well with Paradox players who enjoy:

  • transport/logistics optimization
  • economy-heavy sims
  • watching systems interact over long campaigns

Curious what people think about this partnership, though.

The new Player Character update just dropped, and it’s a pretty big step toward full release.

Big highlights:

  • You can now see your teammates’ full bodies and what they’re holding
  • New movement + interaction animations make everything feel more physical
  • New death animations and improved immersion overall
  • A watch system to track sanity + contract time
  • 12 new customizable character models

It also sounds like they’re leaning more into the “connected world” side with character backstories and more personality.

Snippets from the January-March 2026 bussiness review about Remedy focusing on what they do best (story-driven single player games) after strong sales momentum:

With Alan Wake 2 doing well, it seems like they’re leaning harder into this, so could the third unknown game be an Alan Wake spinoff or Alan Wake 3?

Curious how people feel about the future of the series and what they want to see.

Saw this and thought it was a pretty unusual take on both strategy and colony sims.

Instead of the usual base-building or RTS setup, this one puts you in charge of a single trench sector during WW1, where you’re:

  • digging and expanding trench networks
  • managing soldiers (food, rest, morale)
  • coordinating attacks with delayed orders via runners
  • dealing with artillery, logistics, and constant pressure

What stood out to me is how much it leans into the human side of things - every soldier has traits and needs, and even communication isn’t instant, so bad timing can completely mess up your plans.

It feels less like a traditional RTS and more like a colony sim under extreme stress, which is a pretty rare angle for this setting.

Apparently, it’s heading into Early Access later this year with plans to expand things like:

  • tunneling and deeper trench systems
  • gas warfare and medical systems
  • more factions and frontline scenarios

Curious what people think about this kind of hybrid.

I came across this earlier and thought it might interest people here. There’s a new pirate RPG called Dawn of Piracy: Caribbean Tides in development.

From what’s been shared so far, it’s aiming for more of a sandbox/simulation approach rather than just an action game:

+ Open-world Caribbean setting during the golden age of piracy

+ Naval combat with ship management and boarding

+ Trading and economy systems (not just combat-focused)

+ Freedom to play as a pirate, merchant, or explorer

+ Heavy emphasis on player choice and progression

It sounds like it’s leaning closer to older games like Sea Dogs rather than something more arcade-style.

No gameplay trailer yet (as far as I can tell), and it’s targeting 2026, so still pretty early - interesting to see another studio take a swing at a deeper pirate RPG outside of the upcoming Blackflag remaster.
