Hot take: I still do not like Springtraps power

(art by me)

Now yes, I do acknowledge that it was approved by Scott, and that Springtrap as a character is very hard to adapt into a game like DbD. All of his game mechanics are inherently tied to FNAFs unique "sit and survive" style. And to its credit, that was adapted very well. The doors and office space are super thematic and lead to some amazing feeling interactions when both sides play into them. The problem arises in the fact that those interactions are few and far between, because they're just not worth using on the survivor end. Survivors don't want to waste time flipping through cameras just to get a few seconds of aura reading, when they could be doing something actually useful.

No all the power budget went into the fire axe, a weapon he has never canonically used or even been associated with outside of fan works (hell he's never even used ranged weaponry or attacks in general in any media). Now I get that its a fandom thing and I'm not against him using a fire axe inherently. The problem comes with the fact that one of the most hyped killers in the entire game's power almost entirely consists of something that has never appeared in the source material. It also doesn't help that it's also not unique to DbD in general. Unknown and Jason function very similarly with arguably less jank.

I'm not saying he's not fun to play or that you're wrong for liking him. The opposite actually. I so desperately want to enjoy him the way the rest of you guys do. I love FNAF and William as a character, I just wish he got a more fitting power. Like idk have him build animatronics (kinda like he does in his mori) that act like traps. Or if you want to keep the fire axe then make the doors more integral to his gameplay and not just an afterthought.

How do I get into fighting games?

The genre looks super cool and has super neat character designs, but I don't know how the hell I'm supposed to start.

For context, I come from games like Marvel Rivals, DbD and Deadlock, where characters have about 3-4 unique abilities each, and maybe a unique weapon gimmick. But with fighters each character has like 20 unique attacks with their own fame data and combo potential. I used to play a lot of Smash Ultimate when I was younger, but that mostly consisted of playing Ganondorf and spamming smash attacks until the enemy died, and I have completely forgotten everything else basically.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I just want some tips and advice on what to do and where to start.

SKULL MERCHANT REWORK LETS FUCKING GOOOO

They did say under it that it's only in the concept phase right now and still needs to be implemented, but this is excellent news

This add-on should not be made basekit

This has been the first time I've actually felt like what Otzvarda has said has just been a straight up bad idea. Don't get me wrong I love the guy but this idea is not it.

This is not a straight buff or QoL change, it's a complete playstyle shift. It's like asking for Waterlogged Shoe or Blue Dress to be made basekit for their respective killers. Its a fundamental shift in playstyle. Long shots are nearly impossible with it and it removes the majority of the skill expression.

"But what about consoles?" 1, console players haven't even played the PTB yet, 2, there're specific aim sensitivity options for Judgement in the settings that don't apply to any other killer so you can just fix it there, and 3, the pc players that have been using controllers are fine (from what I've heard at least). They don't need to be babied.

"It should just be an option in the menu" it is, that is what add-ons are. They are customizable options for a killer that alter their playstyle in unique and interesting ways. This is what they do.

"It's the community chapter so it should be accessible". Just an inherently stupid argument. You want to know what other killers have been easy and accessible? Every single killer since Unknown. Any excuse could be made for why any killer should be easy. If anything this is more fitting to reward a devoted and dedicated community with a killer that requires devotion and dedication to master.

The skill expression and difficulty of use is why Judgement is both balanced and fun to play, forcing everyone else to take on a massive nerf just so the killer can be dumbed down is a bad idea. There are plenty of training wheels add-ons for killers, this is just the newest. Run it if you want to but just don't make it basekit.

And yes I have seen the Pixelbush video, but these were my opinions before watching it and they will continue to be my opinions after. Pixelbush just enforced them, these are 100% my own opinions and not brainlessly mimicking a youtuber I watch like SOME of you people

EDIT: To those saying "make it a switch like Houndmsater" that's even worse! Prayer Kneeler is easier at hitting shots up close but worse at a distance, while basekit is the opposite. Doing that just lowers the skill floor and negates all her weaknesses. It makes her overpowered and easy, which not even including how the people who like Judgement as is feel, but would make the world's most miserable META.

Even if we disregard the META though, hitting trickshots and bending it is fun, aiming it at a wall and then treating it like a bootleg PrHead Punishment is not. I know most you guys aren't actually going to play the killer beyond the first few weeks, so just run Kneeler. It's a brown add-on it's not that hard to get. And if you do actually plan on playing enough for where running out becomes an issue, consider just learning the base power.

I love maining unpopular characters in games

  1. Ultron and Mr. Fantastic in Marvel rivals

  2. Freddy Krueger in Dead By Daylight

  3. Yorick and Skarner in League Of Legends

It's always fun getting a win on niche characters because the enemy team doesn't know what the hell your doing or how to play against you. Especially if they've got some weird unorthadox playstyle that makes them super unique.

I officially have mastery 10 on Bel'Veth

Bad news is outside of the passive and ult change I don't like the rework

Former Aurora player here, I know how you guys feel

It sucks having your favourite character having their identity completely changed and reworked. Even if objectively it's not all that healthy for the game, it still sucks getting it removed. I hope the changes to Q and E get reverted for your guys sake.

Overhated design: Fully Evolved Viktor - Arcane

I know this post is probably going to be downvoted to shit but frankly I think this design gets a bit too much flak.

*NOW IGNORING ALL OF THE WRITING OF SEASON 2*, this is actually a pretty cool design. His face splitting open is nice symbolism for him evolving out of his old form and shedding his former humanity. His proportions being tall and lanky and alien looking, the gaps in his body where flesh should be, the machine parts embeded into his naked, purple, discoloured flesh, it all comes together to make him look something that could plausibly be the next stage of human evolution. It's gross and weird and body horror that looks super cool.

His cape being the same blanket Jayce gave him and his staff being his old walking stick are both cool ways of showing that some part of him still clings to his old humanity and "friendship" with jayce, literally always being enshrouded by him.

I can understand why a lot of people dislike this design, but frankly I really like what they did.

I love intentionally pathetic villains

  1. Infinite from Sonic.

  2. Adam from Hazbin Hotel.

  3. Viego from LoL

Idk what it is but I love it when villains are just complete petty losers. If you're doing pure evil this is the way to do it.
