Got terminated without cause today. Worth it to consult a lawyer?

Employer: publicly traded with employees number in the hundred.

Position: Accountant

Length of service: 2 years and 4 months.

Salary: $63K

Termination reason: nothing was cited officially but HR told me verbally "performance issue" as I received "unsatisfied performance" review two years in a row.

What I'm getting:

  • ESA entitlement of two weeks pay + accrued vacation.
  • Severance payment: roughly two weeks of pay + one month of outplacement service ONLY AFTER I SIGN A RELEASE FORM basically giving up all my right to take any actions against the company in the future. They are pressing me to sign it within one week.

I'm wondering if I have a chance of getting a bigger severance here and will it be worth if for me to contact an employment lawyer cost-benefit wise.

If this helps, my employment contract stated that the company only had to pay me the minimum ESA upon termination.

Thanks for answering.

Slow zones on line 1 are back, aren’t they?

It has been two weeks straight that line one north bound is going at turtle speed with random stops. I thought we were done with it😑

Is this email legit?

I’m able to log in to my online banking just fine a few hours after this email. The email doesn’t have any links to click on and the wording looks legitimate. Not sure what’s going on.
