Benefits of YouTube Shopping on Shorts? They keep pushing me to enable it but I don’t have products in my videos?
Hey everyone,
YouTube Studio has been aggressively pushing me to turn on YouTube Shopping for Shorts. It keeps prompting me to enable it and start tagging products.
I’m fine with products being tagged and suggested to my viewers. I don’t mind the shopping stickers or affiliate suggestions at all.
But I am worried about TOS. It seems like I'm supposed to only tag / suggest products in my videos. Is that true? Or can it be tangentially related. So a cat video can sell cat toys, etc?

Has anyone noticed any change in views, reach, or algorithmic performance after enabling YouTube Shopping and turning on auto-tagging? I'm worried it's a crummy user experience.
Did it help at all (I saw some YouTube data claiming +8% views on tagged Shorts), or did it hurt performance in any way?
Any creators here who enabled it but don’t manually tag often?
I want to take advantage of the feature since YouTube is clearly promoting it, but I don’t want to accidentally tank my reach or violate the TOS.
