INTJ: Hardest to play, easiest to master

I want to preface this by saying this has just been a thought and wanted to open up a little bit of a discussion where friendly disagreement is absolutely welcome.

My claim: INTJ's are the hardest to play, but the easiest to master. This has a few elements to it, so I'll break it down.

Hardest to play

  1. When we are born , very soon will notice "we are different" we tend to not fit in with the crowd. You observe things that don't make sense, and when you point them out, people aren't mesmerized by your brilliance, they'll look at you weird, they think you're stupid, but even in adolescence, you've figured out what they can't even begin to see. It's a level of abstract thinking that Ni dom's have that explaining it won't always do the trick. You can't understand it for them.
  2. You like being alone (if you're at least someone what of a stereotype), you probably don't even like group projects, but life rewards groups, life rewards you for playing in a team, and you may have tried but it's just not for you. You're a solopreneur.
  3. Your Fe blindspot makes you look awkward in certain situations, you're not always as good at reading the room as you think, especially as a child you'll find yourself not being a part of the group anymore because you haven't found your group op weirdos yet, but if you did, great.

Easiest to master

  1. Phronesis. This is definitely not true for all INTJ's like all other things, but this is something I don't know if many people realise is actually really valuable. We behave according to the patterns we've seen and the outcomes that reward us the most. Let's say someone cut you off and you're pissed. Most people intuitively react pissed. INTJ's however will imagine 5+ scenarios of reactions and will remain calm because they've calculated the outcomes of each reaction.
  2. Contextualizing. We can do something better than anybody else with the use of NiTe (ENTJ's do this too but act first) INTJ's contextualize first, then act. What this means is that we 'Zoom out'. This happens all the time in group projects, I work in IT, a space full of XSTJ folks. The ISTJ's, typically developers IMMEDIATELY jump on pain points, very detailed parts of what needs to be done. You, the INTJ don't work that way. You see the entire picture. You zoom out, then in. This is really beneficial because you know what to tackle in what order, whereas (if you work in IT you'll know this) you'll hear a lot of: "It took longer because we didn't see this coming). You did see it coming.
  3. Studying. We don't study like most other people study. We naturally find connections between things. We need less time studying because we simply find better ways. I can't begin to tell you how many times I needed to tell people to stop obsessing over grammar when studying a language. The INTJ's understands the entire concept of a language is the connection of words. You understand bulk is exponentially better and grammar comes naturally to you (at least for the majority of rules) because you will be corrected. Most people I know who studied languages really fast do this exactly.

Summary

We are hard to play because we are awkward in a communication sense, people don't understand the abstraction. We often develop mental issues because of this. A lack of belonging, overanalyzing or stuck in thought. The development of Se is actually immensly beneficial for us because it teaches us to be busy being present. BUT if you are an healthy INTJ, and you do find the discipline to work at whatever you want to work at, you'll be faster, you'll see things others don't see. That's why I believe we are the easiest to master.

What advice do you have for people who don't like their job but can't turn their hobby in a craft?

I have various hobbies like reading, writing, gaming and lifting but I don't really have a desire to turn my hobby into an income. I want to think in solutions, not problems but I honestly don't know where to look.

I'm 31 years old and happily married. My life is okay. But there's always this desire to do something else. I've been a QA engineer since I got my bachelor's in comp science at 25.

Now I'm just going through life waiting for the day to end so I can play WoW and go to gym. It's just the same routine over and over.

Not sure where to go from here.

People who stay lean/skinny year round, do you just not get hungry?

I constantly swing between 12% and 20% body fat the second I stop tracking calories.

My issue is that I just want to eat all the time. It’s not even actual physical hunger, I just love eating and have zero natural off-button. Since I refuse to let myself cross 20% bfp, I’m constantly stuck aggressively dieting or counting every single calorie to pull it back down.

Out of curiosity, I tracked what a "normal" day looks like for me when I’m not dieting, and I easily clear 1,000 calories over maintenance without even trying.

Just blows my mind that some people can stay lean naturally without having to log every single thing they eat.

Going into WOTLK, can I just skip guns all together?

I've enjoyed leveling a hunter but every gun I get I just sell because I'm not enjoying the animation as well as the sound. I know it sounds silly but I just don't. I wanted to swap mains by playing this class but I don't know how much bread I'm leaving on the table if I just don't want to play Guns? I spend 90% of my time either world PvPing or PvEing. No arena.

What is your go-to battery reset activity?

Imagine you've just gone to someones birthday party, a lot of socializing, then after that you had to run errands and pulled through a work-out as well. Your day has been nothing but ticking of boxes in a way where you feel drained.

What is your "I can't wait to do X activity"?

Personally, when I come home I tell my wife to just let me be for 2-3 hours, I make the room entirely dark, I get a drink I like, noise canceling headphones and a thin blanket. I then play old Blizzard games like Classic WoW or Diablo II. This heals me in ways nothing else can. It's the perfect battery reset.

So I'm curious, what's your reset activity?

Life is better monotasking

I've been chronically multi-tasking.

  • Eating while watching videos
  • Listening to podcasts while walking my dog
  • Vibe coding while gaming
  • Reading e-mails while in Teams meetings

List goes on.

I've decided to entirely stop this. One task at a time. Turns out it with a lot more difficult than I thought. the second I sit down to eat, I would try to grab for my phone, except I left my phone intentionally elsewhere. I don't even bring my phone to bed anymore and I can visibly feel my body act like a child, screaming for it to get to me.

It's been a month now and I've noticed I'm a lot lower in stress than ever before. It's like I regained peace. The weirdest thing is that I've now even started to despise my phone. I even use grayscale now. Whenver I see a video, especially shorts, I notice I developed a distaste for it even though normally I would swipe for 20 minutes before I get bored.

You've only got so long, so why throw it away to fulfill someone elses Youtube dream when you could be spending quality time with friends, family or pets. It's going to suck the first 2 weeks but eventually you'll never want to return to it.

It's a trap.

In what way do you resonate with your character?

This question has always amazed me seeing how some personalities take on unique class combinations. For example a Gnome Warrior, a Troll Mage for example have some contradictions in them. For most people it's probably "not that deep" and assume ''this character looks cool" and that's it. But do you resonate with your character, because at the end of the day you pick what feels right.

When I see an Undead Warlock for example, I think "yep that makes sense". Both lorewise and aesthetic wise.

Generally speaking, If we take Warriors, they're close combat characters, love agression and tend to give off "strong" character aesthetics. Gnomes on the other hand are calculated, they're smart, they're sneaky. Both contradictions to the Warrior.

Mages tend to cast elegance, they're strategic and calculated yet trolls aren't scholars by nature. They are agile, they're swift, they work well both short and close range, they love to hunt.

But someone out there will find a way to resonate with them and I'd love to hear about how you do resonate. Does it go into the 'not that deep bucket' or do you resonate in a different way?

Edit: I saw this coming so I'll explain myself. When I say X doesn't typically Y, that doesn't mean they can't Y. It just means it's statistically less common. For example, if I were to say, it's a boy so he probably won't wear make-up when he grows up, that's generally true. That doesn't mean this boy can never wear make-up. It is just less likely.

Beached Sea Creature never concludes?

https://preview.redd.it/c3ui1zcvr0fh1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=408b80366400d01fc752c1147001e7f971cdb64e

So I was told to do research for a quest named 'Beached Sea Creature'. I finished the series but was left disappointed. I was just never know the conclusion of the research? It made me walk all over auberdine beach but it won't tell me what it concluded? I can't find continuum of the lore.

Just a thought: you can get rich ethically from MSclassic

Every game, as far as I know on Twitch with a good amount of players always has a #1 famous Twitch guy. Jokerd on Twitch is a very famous example, he got wealthy this exact way through a singular game. Ryambi (a Mapler) did well too when he was rank 1 on Artale, which isn't even close to what WoW had. Literally have a personality and play 18 hours a day will very likely get you this given you play something other than an underfunded Warrior. Clearly you won't get WoW like views, but if you're in a really tough spot in life, this may be your way out. And you don't even need to be rank 1 necessarily. Just be Rank 1 - 2 of your class.

  • Get good at Twitch
  • Quit your job, risk it all
  • Play 18 hours a day, especially the first 30 days
  • Start a rank 1 Guild
  • Launch twitch, call your stream "Rank 1 Classic Maple World"
  • Open donations

Free money.

This post isn't meant to say 'throw away your life become a twitch streamer'. Just IF you are having a hard life right now, this may be your way out.

The scientific failure of MBTI

I honestly love MBTI, as it has allowed me to understand myself and others in ways I didn't understand before. Being with an ISFJ wife I started to understand things about her I never did. It's a useful tool but it has flaws.

So far every study on MBTI has deemed it unscientific. People who know nothing about MBTI make fun of it and call it "on-par with horoscopes". I disagree particularly with the latter. MBTI can be useful. BUT it places people in corners that are too static. People have so many variables to work with that MBTI just can not account for this change.

Classic example

One of the most misstyped people in my opinion is for a very obvious reason that I think is exactly where MBTI is wrong. Cillian Murphy. Many 'MBTI experts' claim he's an ENTJ because he said (I'm paraphrasing). "I love really getting in the moment, and focusing on the sounds, the environment aorund me, I really like to be present". The 'experts' immidiately jumped on this sentence and suggested THIS MUST MEAN he is utilizing Se! But who can I blame? This is exactly what MBTI teaches us. You prioritize Se in certain times? Boom, INTJ label is stripped.

So what's my point

One of the many things I like doing is taking long quiet walks. I very intentionally focus on the songs of the birds, don't bring my phone. Try to feel the wind pressure, feel the gravel texture beneath my shoes. It is like a meditation practise. Does that mean I'm now suddenly an ISFP because I like spending time in the moment? No of course not. I just like to press the reset button on my brain to calm down, to wind down. I have to be very intentional about being in the moment just Like Cillian Murphy has to. That doesn't mean you're now suddenly a Se user.

"But MBTI still let's you use all functions".

I agree, I fully agree. BUT why is that every 'expert' types this way? Every discussion on MBTI is always like that. Did you see the interview about this guy who said something empathetic to the host? He MUST be INFJ. This is literally how MBTI analysis is done. Is it an analysis problem or is it a framework problem? I don't know. But if it was a analysis problem, it becomes nearly impossible to do it right because people will always give clues of any function out there eventually. I mean Steve Jobs was the exact opposite of what he portrayed in the last decade of his life. The dude was a hippie. No one would've EVER typed him an ENTJ if he didn't make the phone call to IBM or if he didn't run a multi-billion company. He was a fruitarian who refused to take anybodies opinion. I've seen people type him Fi dom for this reason.

MBTI is a fun tool but we have to take it with a grain of salt. And I don't blame the experts, I can only say that if someone may enjoy or say a certain thing, don't jump to conclusions.

Literally doubling my fiber intake solved so much

I already consume 20 grams a day, my pain was relatively bearable but annoying enough to affect my life daily. I unfortunately had hemorrhoids so the doctor told me to go up to 40 grams of fiber and make sure I take psyllium husk. So I have been doing this for three weeks now. My belly pain is gone entirely. I was diagnosed with IBM-M if anyone cares to know.

This may not work for everyone but if you do find yourself taking not enough fiber, give it a try.

I also make a daily fiber smoothie with flaxeed, pears and some vegetables daily now to get a quick 15 grams of fiber in before my day starts, it really works well

Why does this Classic WoW quest already talk about the Lich King?

In the quest 'Rude Awakening' in Vanilla WoW, I found an NPC called Undertaker Mordo talk about the Lich King. Wasn't that guy from 2 expansions later?
