Orthopedic doc recommendation?

If you’ve been to an orthopedic doctor in any of the North Atlanta suburbs who is polite & respectful with a good bedside manner and not quick to rush to surgery, please share the name and location if you recommend him/her.

For what it’s worth, this is for shoulder and/or neck. I’m not sure which came first or which one caused the other (or if they’re two separate issues). Thank you for your input!

AMA tulip time cruise in late April

If any of you have done the AMA waterways tulip time cruise in April, please share your experience here. I keep seeing complaints on Reddit and Facebook about lots of diversions of river cruises due to low water levels this summer. I know this can happen sometime, but I’m wondering if it’s a common problem in April? This cruise begins and ends in Amsterdam. All the stops are either in the Netherlands or in Belgium.

I’m also wondering if the excursions required long bus rides? I knew that we would get off the boat and do excursions each day which I’m looking forward to. But I’m just curious how long the bus rides were to get to the excursions on this particular cruise? Thank you!

Name of store to buy power adapter?

On train from Amsterdam to Brussels. Just realized I don’t have my US to EU power adapter and I will need one to charge my phone at the hotel. What are the names of stores I should look for that sell power adapters.

Will be staying at a no-frills place that does not have a concierge or big lobby with customer service. I won’t be able to get an adapter from the hotel and I’m not sure if there’s even anyone in person to help us there, they might just give us a code for how to get in. So I just need to find a store that sells US to EU power adapters.

Not asking you to recommend a store that you think is great, just asking for the names of stores that sell power adapters so that I will know what to look for as I’m going down the street. Thank you.

Tips for booking Hyatt in Amsterdam?

I just got my Chase Sapphire card with 100,000 points. I’ve never booked anything w/points so thank you for your knowledge and your patience.

We will be spending 3 nights in Amsterdam in April, and I’ve heard that Hyatt is the best bang for the buck using Chase points. Would I be better off to try to book thru the Chase.com portal? Or is it better to transfer the points to Hyatt and book directly thru Hyatt?

I have read where people talk about getting much better deals on their points or periodic specials with the points, but I don’t know how to go about that.

Whatever happened to Allstate Medigap supplement customers?

When we were about to retire, we were referred to an agent who said he specializes in Medicare and he kept strongly endorsing Allstate. We kept asking him questions about other companies and other alternatives and he just kept pushing Allstate. When we would ask about loss ratios and other questions, he had no answers. We just kept pushing back because we thought their loss ratio was high and we were concerned about whether it would be a stable situation for us long-term. Thank goodness we didn’t jump on Allstate like he kept pushing us to do because right before our deadline to make a decision, Allstate exited the market and stated they would no longer be accepting any new customers. I felt like we really dodged a bullet.

Anyway, that just came to my mind tonight and I’m wondering what has ever happened with Allstate? If there are any agents on here who can chime in, I’m wondering if they’re having astronomical rate increases? And if there are any people on here who are covered by the Allstate Medigap plan, how is it going?

Just curious how most attorneys handle initial consult for a will?

This is in Georgia, roughly 50 miles north of Atlanta.

Background: when we had our will drafted 25 years ago when our children were young, we got a phone price from two attorneys so we knew going in what the price would be. We chose the attorney who was more expensive because we knew more people who had used him. We had a lengthy consult with him to make decisions, he sent us home with some homework, and then he drafted a will for each of us for the agreed price.

Now our children are grown, and the executors we listed 25 years ago are no longer good options because they are very old, the will talks about guardianship of the minor children if something were to happen to both of us, etc. and so much of that is not relevant anymore that we thought it is time to just get a new will.

We have a recommendation for an attorney and when we contacted the firm about a consult, the paralegal wrote back and said it’s $375 for a consult, and once we consult with the attorney then we’ll find out the price of the will and the price of any other documents or trusts or any other protections we might want to add. I don’t mind the lawyer charging for his time for the consult, and I realize if you’re doing a trust or other things that the pricing might not be something they can quote upfront. But I’d really like to know the price of wills for a married couple (both wills would be identical). I don’t know if we would add any other documents, but i’d like to at least know the price range of doing wills for a married couple before we commit to the $375 consult fee.

Maybe I’m wrong. It has been 25 years since we’ve dealt with this, but for any of you who are an attorney or any of you who have had an attorney draft a will for you in the last few years, is this normal to not have any idea what the will will cost until you pay $375 to find that out?

Your claim w/Allianz or Travel Insured International??

I live in the US. Looking to buy travel insurance for a trip to Europe. My Travel Agent sells Travel Insured International, and I am also looking at Allianz.

If you have filed a Travel Insurance claim, would you share which company it was, and the pros and cons of your claims experience?

If you feel comfortable doing so, can you also share whether it was a trip cancellation claim or a claim for medical bills for an accident or illness or injury that occurred while you were on the trip?

Your experience with sapphire preferred travel protection?

We are about to book a cruise that will take place a year from now. Currently my husband and I are in good health, but we’re retired and at our age, anything can happen over the course of a year. And my mother is 90 years old and doing well right now but again, you never know what a year will bring.

Having never used the chase sapphire preferred travel protection, I don’t know how reliable it is. For any of you who have made a claim for trip cancellation or trip interruption due to illness or due to the illness of a family member such as your mother, how was the claims process? What was your situation that required you to file the claim?

Did they reimburse your nonrefundable expenses? Timely? I realize they need documentation, but did they ask for reasonable documentation or did they keep thinking of something new they needed every time you sent what they already asked for?

If you have made a claim on your trip insurance, please share the name of the company and details of your experience whether good or bad.

I’m not really interested in how friendly this sales agent was or how easy it was to purchase the coverage. I’m more interested in what happened if you filed a claim.

Also did you purchase the CFAR (cancel for any reason) add-on covg? We are going to be booking a cruise soon, but it won’t take place until a year from now. A whole lot of things could happen over the course of a year that I cannot even anticipate or imagine right now. So that’s why I’m thinking of getting the CFAR coverage added on just in case something bizarre were to come up that’s not listed in the regular policy.

I’d love to hear your claims experience whether on a regular travel insurance policy OR on a Cancel For Any Reason policy. Thank you!

How much water did you drink the day of your reclast infusion?

Please don’t reply with any scary stories of your terrible reaction to reclast. I don’t want to minimize your bad experience, but I’m having an infusion tomorrow and I don’t have any choice about it, so please don’t say anything to scare me.

Just looking for tips on exactly what you did for your reclast infusion that you believe helped? All my doctor said is to hydrate, he gave no amount of water. I specifically asked him twice if he would add to the order for me to have a bag of fluid before and or after the infusion and he said absolutely not necessary.

A lot of literature says to drink two 8-oz glasses of water, but that doesn’t sound like very much. How much did you drink? Is it fine to eat before the infusion?

Did you take Tylenol the day of the infusion and if so, how long before the infusion and how much Tylenol? Should I take some Tylenol tonight? Any other tips or suggestions to help have a good outcome?

Reliable key fob replacement for MDX??

We have a 2017 MDX that we were planning to drive for another few years. One of the key fobs came up missing when we did a 600 mile move. The other key fob (key less remote) has always worked fine until this week. It seems to be struggling with the signal intermittently. So you’re afraid to turn the car off in a public place because you may not be able to start it when you get back in it.

We’ve already mentioned it to the dealership service center once and they didn’t have much of an answer. I’m sure they’d be happy to sell us a new key fob, but they did not seem to have any suggestions or solutions for the existing one.

If any of you have ever bought a replacement keyless remote for your Acura MDX from someplace other than the Acura dealership, do you mind sharing where you purchased it and your experience with it?? Were you happy with it? Was it reliable? Did it last for the long-term? Thank you!

I know there’s been a number of complaints on here recently about Amazon sending used merchandise when the customer bought something that was supposed to be new. That happened to me twice recently, and on one of them I tried to include the fact that they sent me a used backpack with food stains in it in my review, and my review just isn’t getting approved. I initially sent this review in early April. It’s still sitting in my box where I can see it, so I know it didn’t disappear, but they’re just not approving it. I included pictures and I kept it fairly brief. No insults or anything really negative. I just stated that the backpack looks really attractive, appears to be inexpensively made so while it looks good and has great storage I’m not sure if it will last for a terribly long time, but the worst thing in my case is that I received one that was used and had food stains inside. Photos attached. And they won’t approve it for some reason. They haven’t really given any reason why, they just aren’t sending it through.

I’ve definitely seen other reviews in the past where a customer mentioned receiving used items. But for some reason they’re not posting mine. I was just curious if anybody else has had a similar situation? It doesn’t matter that much, but I’m curious if they’re intentionally not posting it due to what seems to be a recent increase in the number of used items they’re sending to people. I wonder if this is just their way of hiding that by not allowing the review to go through.

If you’ve experienced something similar to that recently, I’d love to hear more about it.
