Mini E-Bike on Campus

I know this is an E-Bike and doesn’t necessarily fit, because this sub is typically gasoline powered bikes.

I saw something on my campus that looked like something similar to the images, and had a full ‘adult’ on it - I think it was custom made, but have you ever seen something similar? Or a kit?

I am pretty interested in something similar but have no information…

Thanks in advance!

ELI5 How microwaves heat food but alter the crunch?

I always feel that when I oven or toaster something, it gets burnt/crispy when reheated or overcooked - but not with a microwave… how?

Moving in - Do I need to bring/rent a dolly?

I’m moving into Cockerell Hall this fall and was wondering how the move-in process works.

Does CU provide dollies/carts for moving your stuff from the parking areas to the dorm, or should I rent/bring my own? My parking pass is for the Yellow Zone, and I’m assuming the parking situation will be clear on move in day, but I’m wondering how far of a walk it is from the Yellow Zone to Cockerell.

I am probably just worried about nothing, but for the chance that I am pretty far, I am just curious what you did to move in....

Thanks in advance!

I invested a lot in SpaceX when it was $161

I am now down 10%, as stupid as it sounds - is it worth considering taking the loss? Or do we think it’ll come back up, at least enough to (break even) make a little profit?

I started paper trading, and I am a pretty big begginer when it comes to actual trading..so I am unsure whether to hold my position?

Edit: I know this sounds stupid because it was much above this the other day - but I have heard some news about a ‘crash’ and SpaceX going south

This is ridiculous, craning my neck for a bad view :(

This photo was taken at high-level, looking straightforward. (Ignore the feet)

If I am fully sitting straight up with my head leaned back on the couch, I’m still barely looking at the TV front and center.

Edit: this is from a summer camp - a lounge for the staff members, everyone is wearing shoes and no one eats on the table (there’s an actual table behind me). Additionally, I have no idea what the cords are done so poorly

How to turn NSFW filter on?

It used to be in my iPhone settings, on the Reddit app and just a switch, but I can’t find it any more…

Has anyone found where to change it?

*I also tried my computer and account settings and it said I haven’t granted any permissions :(

How do I light this firework?

As stupid as it sounds, I’ve never seen a fuse that looks just like plastic… they always look like a fuse?

Do I just like the bottom of this red part, as you typically would with a normal firework?

Additionally this is my first non-mortar firework, do I just stick the wooden pole in the ground and light it?

Will the wooden stick fly into the air as well?

Sorry for all the stupid questions, I appreciate the help!

Legs hurt when progressing L-Sit

From the basic research that I’ve done, the seems to be a hip flexor issue, because it hurts the most towards the top of my quads (close to my hips and halfway down my quad, and mainly the top of my quad muscle).

But how do I minimize this, because it seems to be ‘limiting’ my ability to push through and progress…

This could also be a flexibility issue, but once warmed up I can pretty easily touch my toes while standing, or sitting down (unless that’s a bad measure of flexibility?).

This IS day 2/3 of L-Sit progression - however I’ve been doing regular weight training for two years now - but my hip flexors/legs get SUPER sore - so I don’t know if I just need to keep training and they will get stronger? Or if there’s a way to train flexibility?

Has anyone had a similar issue/have a solution?

Thanks everyone!

Ski Recommendations

I am 6'1, 180lb for reference, looking for a solid all mountain ski as I think I finally stopped growing. I am an advanced/expert skier, looking for my first non-used ski! I'd like a little bit of underfoot (probably 90-100), as my old skis were Rossi Experience 84's (used), and something good for carving. I'd love the ability to try out some park features, and I've liked a tiny bit more flex in my ski than the next guy - if that makes any sense.

I am totally unsure what skis to even check out, so if you could throw me some recommendations, that would be so helpful! (also, if I asked for too many things for the ski to fit in - a solid all mountain ski for a bit of carving and powder, and a little bit of back rocker would be nice)

Thanks in advance, everyone!!

Edit: I ski 90% On Piste

What are the signs of transmission failure?

Just for clarification, I hear a lot about transmission failure (I believe especially on my generation - 2014) - but I am more curious what to look for?

Specifically, my car has close to 120k miles - and starting to become a bumpier ride as time goes on, so I am not sure when to bring it in to get checked out, as there isn’t really a ‘noise’ or what I would expect for trans-failure.

What signs did you guys see before losing a transmission/when is the right time to bring it in?

Thanks everyone :)

Laptop Question(s)

I am an incoming Freshman (Fall 26’), and I am currently looking to buy a laptop before school starts.

My major is exploratory studies, but I’m leaning towards something like business/engineering - my only concern is that I want a laptop that can handle whatever major I want, and for all 4 years.

For anyone who has a laptop recommendation (anything that’s Lenovo/Dell would be preferred bc there’s a 10% sale for students currently), I’d love to hear what you have!

Specifically for a software demanding major, what laptops would do just fine throughout engineering/buisness?

*please no Mac recommendations, all due respect

Thanks everyone!

Dell Pro 16 Plus - For College?

I am looking for a laptop for college, I have never owned a laptop before so please be informative if I say something wrong.

So far I've seen relatively good things about dell laptops, and I want to stay away from apple laptops as I'm not interested in their mac ecosystem.

I'll probably end up in engineering/business for my major - so I just want a computer that can support whatever I choose to select for 4 years of school!

This would need a medium amount of storage, and not the slowest computer ever... does this seem to be a fine choice? Does anyone have a personal experience with this laptop (whether good or bad)?

If this is 'an awful choice' or a 'terrible deal' - please point me in the 'right' direction for laptop purchases!

Thanks everyone!!

New watch-band!

This is my first new watch band in about 3 years! I’ve cracked a few of these watch faces, and kept the same band because it always fit just right, but finally the loop broke through to the next rung :(

Welcome, new watch band!

Laptop Rec’s For College

Hi Yall! Going to college next year and I don’t have a laptop… this is more a questionnaire of how much ram/storage/how powerful processor, to handle any possible major for 4 years of college.

Country
United States
Budget
$1,200-$1,600USD

Are you open to refurbs/used options?
No, thanks!

Screen size
Probably 14-16”

Weight limit
Medium/Light Weight

Purpose
Schoolwork + basic CAD work

Form factor
Standard? Just like a screen and keyboard!

Intended usage
Purely college work, maybe a tad bit of CAD + Blender, but basically simple programs (but I’d like the capability to do engineering/demanding major work on it - currently undecided for major and want a 4 year laptop)

Desired battery life
Not sure, I’ve never owned a laptop… 4-6 hours?

Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life
I just need it to handle any college work thrown at it for 4-5 years, with not awful battery life.

PLEASE REMEMBER LAPTOPS ARE A COMPROMISE AND PERFORMANCE SACRIFICES LIGHT WEIGHT AND LONG BATTERY LIFE ETC]
Info/Requirements
WINDOWS ONLY (seriously will not consider anything else, I’m already in the Windows ecosystem!)

2014 Titanium… Belly Pan?

I just noticed this today, it looks like my belly pan/part of a low bumper is attached by one of the four screws.

Does anyone know exactly what screw it is?

Moreover, what is the detached item called?

Thanks!

Possible Orientation Checklist?

My orientation is coming up, and honestly much faster than I thought. Is there a webpage/checklist for stuff that I should bring with me?

I’m up-to-date on all of the online forms, and any online orientation stuff as well, I’m just a little unsure of exactly what I need to bring.

I assume my laptop, do I need bedding?

Also, where would I find exactly where to show up on the day of orientation?

Thanks a ton!

ELI5: Why does water taste old?

To clarify I mean after a day or so the taste changes to almost ‘stale’.

A few (2 or so days) days it hurts my stomach - which may be placebo?

I would assume that this is because of plastic, as it happens a lot in plastic water bottles - but recently it’s happened in glass cups I’ve left out on my nightstand - hence me asking!

Got my hands on a P2 🤩

*nothing informative, just excited that it actually showed up!!

I started with my dear skeletool, then two years later a wingman… I lost engraved wingman a few months ago and got an arc used for super cheap… saw a P2 on amazon and somehow showed up!

Honestly such a pretty tool and can’t wait to get it dirty 🤙🏼🤙🏼

**I keep my tools (somewhat) clean, yes they get used lol**

Edit:

The arc and p2 are the same size, it’s all camera angle!
