Where to go if your internet doesn’t work and you need to work on your work laptop?

I can’t go to the office because I don’t have anyone to go with (they have a rule that you can’t be there by yourself and basically no one comes in Fridays and everyone I have asked said they aren’t coming) so I need to figure something out since my provider can’t get a tech to come out until 5

We often see that when an employee is about to be termed, their check-in is moved to the end of day. How often do you use this approach?

I also know sometimes this is documented and HR is BCC’d on an email confirming this so the employee is unaware. How often does this happen or do you use different approaches outlined by your HR teams?

Love line 11 or 22

Men I have been with in the past have had a business of some sort or something very closely related to business type work

It makes me wonder, do any of these numbers on the love line indicate that’s the type of men that always come into my life?

I say 11 or 22 because my destiny matrix shows both as in I did it more than once and got a different number

If I want to take my iced latte to work and have it last me from the morning to the afternoon, what pods are best ? I would love to make it taste as close to a coffee shop as possible since I want to stop spending money at expensive shops

Do you utilize going for coffee at work as a networking opportunity within your company departments and/or colleagues? As in on-site during work day

I had a 3.5 GPA Winter 2026 semester and my other semesters were over the required GPA but when I saw my new notification from OSAP, it says academic probation and my payment converted to loans ( but the new calculation actually shows it didn’t and I actually still got my grants than loan)

When I got OSAP for the winter 2026 semester, I didn’t have a job after January as I had resigned (I had suspected pneumonia and they weren’t giving anyone Pt much shifts anyways, so I thought it would be best to resign since I got so sick but also because there was barely any hours for all the PT staff -literally 6-12 a week for every person on PT and my manager knew I was looking for FT employment as I had told her honestly that I needed FT hours) so based on the form, I inputted that information as it was accurate.

In March, I started a full time job. I only have 3 courses to do before graduation and the reason being was due to one not being available in a previous term(pre-requisite) so it pushed my whole trajectory in terms of graduation timeline.

I was FT Winter 2026 and didn’t enroll for OSAP for Summer as this course I need, I will have to do it most likely externally and convert it via transfer, so I can be eligible for the 2 remaining courses and graduate/be done in Fall 2026.

Anyhow, I am very confused why it is saying academic probation now, and the message about my loans. Which is showing as overpayment now. I don’t know if it’s because they reassessed and since I have a ft job now, they changed it on the profile.

I am going to be paying for the remaining courses out of pocket anyhow, but I to further my education and I think I saw online that you can get out of probation once you pay off the grant that was converted to loan?

The application was filled in Jan when I didn’t have employment and I got a ft job in March, so I am guess that is the most plausible reason but would love to hear insight! Thank you! 😊

How likely am I to lose my job?

If a senior member of leadership, very high up, specifically asks you of you are interested in an opportunity and gives you a few days to decide.. and you decide during the timeframe given with input from your existing team that it may be too much for your plate/schedule considering what you are doing is about to get extremely busy- how likely is it that you are either

a) never going to be given a opportunity again

b) random termination within the week

c) Going to be pushed out/performance managed for saying no?

I am petrified 🫣 Everyone told me they expected me to say yes because I always say yes to everything

Contract coming to an end

I’m currently in a fixed-term contract that ends in about six months. I’m hopeful that something may come up internally, but I also know how competitive the job market is and how long it can take to find a new role.

Would you start applying now, or would you wait a little longer?

I’d also love to hear any networking advice. For those who have successfully transitioned into a new role, what strategies helped you the most? Did you focus on LinkedIn, informational interviews, recruiters, industry events, reaching out to people in your network, or something else?

My goal is to be prepared rather than waiting until my contract is almost over. I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for others and any advice you’d give someone in a similar situation.

If you call to move money from your TFSA to your other account over the phone, is it protocol for the person you are speaking to, to get your entire card info? Card number, card expiration date and the 3 digit code?

Just curious

Have you ever found out that your coworker was talking shit about you to others? How do you navigate that when everyone works together?

Obviously being professional, but is there anything else you do? 💕

What you wish you knew, when you first started renting? First time renter on her own. I found a listing for a studio and it looks too good to be true but it’s listed by a real estate agent so I know it’s legitimate..

I am hoping to go and have a tour but what should I do as a potential first time renter trying to escape a bad living situation(abuse/etc)

Like what are things you wish you knew when you first rented a place/room? Thank you😊

Do you typically get your Hr termination ticket a week in advance? Like to do the appropriate updates/backups on the computer that take a while?

I know to the employee it makes it seem like it’s just an issue with their computer but really a backup preparation.

Is this the standard for most It departments? I know some people across industries who have said it’s the norm

GIC

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about opening a TFSA GIC with Scotiabank and am looking at investing around $2,000–$5,000. I've never had a GIC before, so I'm wondering whether it's worth it at current rates and what term length people would recommend. For those who have a TFSA GIC with Scotiabank, what rates have you been getting recently, and if you were investing a few thousand dollars, would you choose a 1-year, 3-year, or 5-year term? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

How to contact someone if they lock your account when you were trying to update your profile and you can’t cont at the help centre without actually logging in???

I can reset my locked account through PERSONA, but the issue is that my gov ID needs to match my LinkedIn name and my LinkedIn name is my preferred name that I use at my job( who know my legal name and that I go by my preferred name)

So I want to contact LinkedIn to ask them about this BUT there is no option to do so without logging in- from what I could find. There was one option to send a request but when I filled everything out, it said it couldn’t do the request.

Trying to fall 1000 times? What are your thoughts?

Oh dear… I meant to say *fail 1000 times

I am not sure if this sub would be the exact fit but I personally felt it to be fitting.

When I say failing 1000 times on purpose - this is derived from something I saw online.

Someone tried to fail 1000 times and apply or do things that they typically wouldn’t think they are qualified enough for AND instead they were able to do multiple things they never imagined just because they TRIED!

Others who adopted this same methodology or what you may refer to it as- experienced similar.

What are your thoughts?

Anyone get assigned new work right before being terminated during probation?

Has anyone here ever been terminated at the end of their probation period even though they were still being given new work?

I remember my ex-coworker (a different job) was given new work and tasks, invited to the company parties and everything- but then got terminated a day or two before her probation ended.

My probation ends next week, and in the last two weeks I've been assigned additional tasks, including a new project and some outreach work. Part of me thinks that's a good sign, but I've also heard of people being given work right up until they were let go and actually saw this happen with the ex-coworker.

If you were terminated during probation, were there any signs beforehand? Were you still being assigned projects and tasks as normal, or did things change leading up to it?

Just curious to hear other people's experiences.

Portable internet — Freedom Mobile Home/Portable Internet

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking into portable internet options in the GTA (mainly Mississauga/Brampton area) because I’m planning to rent and may move around a bit. A lot of the rentals I’ve looked at don’t want permanent internet installations done, so I’m trying to avoid relying on landlord Wi-Fi.

I recently started looking into Freedom Mobile’s portable/home internet options and was wondering how reliable they actually are for full-time remote work and heavier/unlimited usage.

My usage would include:

-Microsoft Teams meetings

-Zoom/video calls

-Outlook/email

-Canva

-Uploading/downloading files

- General web browsing

-Streaming occasionally in the background

I would likely be using it heavily/daily for work purposes, so stability is important. I’m also looking for something with unlimited data (or at least something that won’t become unusable after high usage).

For anyone in the GTA using Freedom for portable/home internet or hotspot-based setups:

-How has the speed and reliability been?

-Does it slow down badly during busy hours?

-Is it good enough for remote work/video calls?

-Would you recommend it over Starlink for city use?

-Any issues in condo or basement apartments?

Would really appreciate honest experiences before I commit to anything expensive 😅
