The fetishization of small businesses must end

People love screaming “support small businesses” like it’s some moral badge, but anyone who’s actually worked in a small business knows they’re usually a complete emotional warzone. Small workplaces aren’t “cozy” or “community‑based.” They’re pressure cookers. Just raw chaos and everyone’s mood slamming into everyone else’s.

One bad owner, one irate coworker, or one boss's cousin makes it a dumpster fire to work for.

Meanwhile big workplaces diffuse everything. You can avoid annoying people. Problems get spread out. Drama doesn’t hit you directly. But sure. Keep yelling “support small businesses” like it’s some magical cure for society. The reality is most of them are held together with duct tape, caffeine, and someone’s unstable personality.

The only thing they are good for is economic impact, car mechanics, and medical practices. Seriously

What if there was a parade for every birth?

Every birth should be celebrated and what better way to do this then have a parade for it? The entire community can see the new baby that way. It can be done a few days after the birth. The baby will ride in the parade along with their parents and the whole community will celebrate.

Stopping smoking tobacco should be celebrated the same as stopping drinking

I don't understand why you always hear celebration of someone saying they are x number of years sober but no one ever announces they haven't smoked tobacco in x number of years.

Tobacco is extremely bad for you and this isn't disputed. Alcohol is too. They are both addictive. People need to celebrate stopping smoking too.

The government should watch us on camera to make sure we don't bed rot

Bed rotting defined is laying around and not doing anything important in bed. This is often done after breakfast and some chores.

Every generation did this. However, now it's a problem because of the smart phone. People will now spend endless hours scrolling their phones. This leads to laziness and unemployment, and this leads to crime.

If we were monitored, we wouldn't do it. We could be monitored via cameras in the bedroom and the government watching that camera. And if we bed rotted, they could come and reprimand us or something.

Stopped Taking Nortripltyline. Now I have insomnia. How long will this last?

I was on Nortriptyline 10 MG for few years. I stopped in March. I still feel fine for anxiety and depression though.

However since June I have had insomnia. I can't fall asleep unless I get up and eat 1-3 times. And sometimes watch TV or read.

Even if I eat more throughout the day or excersise or do other healthy things, I can't find a single thing that will help.

I don't know if this is withdrawl from the antidepressant or the summer weather or both. This has never happened to me. How long will this last??????

We need to go back and get the original recordings of famous American songs

I'm talking about after it was composed. Like God bless America and we wish you a merry Christmas.

They have been played so many times, I wonder if we strayed from how the composer originally wanted it to sound. We need to have a massive search effort to find the earliest recordings after these couple songs (and similar ones) were composed so we can hear how they are supposed to be.

Cmv: watching people at an apartment parking lot is very interesting and shouldn't be shamed

I have compared this to looking at the constellations. When you look at the constellations, nothing happens. It stays in one place and is the same thing every time. Every single time.

But when you watch people in apartment parking lots do things, you get variety and movement. I find it interesting. Now don't get me wrong, I don't do it very much, but when I do, I can tell you it's certainly more interesting then looking at stars.

And it's harmless (when done from your window). I was told once to get a life for doing this when I admitted I do it. I could tell the same person to get a life for watching a football game which takes way more time.

If you work for a publicly traded company, shareholders should be able to watch what you do at home

If you work for a publicly traded compnay, then cameras should be installed in your home and shareholders should be able to watch what you do.

The reason I say this is because they need to make sure they are getting their money's worth out of their investment. What would they think if they saw an employee spending their weekend just watching Netflix and doing nothing else? They would think that those employees don't contribute to society at all and that their money isn't going to the best place. Or what if they saw that an employee immediately started drinking upon arriving home after work? That would also look embarrassing for the compnay.

By monitoring employees in their home, shareholders can instill confidence in themselves that their investments are worthwhile.

Cmv: Backrooms is a bad movie until they start moving around in the backrooms

I almost flipped my sh-- before this. I sat through the therapy scenes, the furniture store scenes, and it was utterly boring. It just started to get somewhat interesting when the main character discovered he could go through the wall and did so.

Once he and his coworkers were inside, it was fully interesting and fully engaging for eye rest of the movie. But before the discovery of the rooms? HORRIBLE. I almost left and I wanted to scream what's the point of the movie? Of course I expected some kind of build up but this movie took way too long.

The scenes before the backrooms isn't overly useful anyway except for the therapy info which didn't have to be drawn out anyway. If you cut out these pre-Backrooms scenes, it's a 10 out of 10 movie.

Most incels aren't actually incels

Most incels are not actually incels. If you talk to them, they often average men wirh a average. And sometimes they are above average in both but perhaps they are introverted or are introverted in a way that connects only with a certain few personalities.

For guys who know how to act socially, there are bound to be women who are going to like him, statistically speaking. I think the guys are just too scared to advance or are too selective.

Now like I said in the first paragraph, some guys' personalities will only connect with a limited number of people, so it will take him longer to find a woman who likes him, but they are still out there.

Another point I'll add is that some men who cry they have no dates haven't actually tried. I talked to one guy who said he had never been on a date. After chatting, he revealed that he doesn't do online dating and that he doesn't put himself in many social situations, and that he almost had a girlfriend from a woman he met from a college project. He is a victim of his own inaction.

You should have to get a license to use motorized lawn equipment

This includes weed whackers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, etc. These can be very dangerous if used incorrectly. Also consider not the device itself but the logistics that involve such as standing on the side of a road to cut your lawn.

Just today, a guy was using a weed whacker or whatever and was standing in the street, not even on the sidewalk. I could have easily swerved and hit him.

It should be illegal to use such devices without a license.

What are subtle signs of a bad person?

So we all know bad people and we can pick up on them easily, but not always.

What were some subtle signs at the beginning of knowing someone that made you wonder (or know) that they were bad people?

God should send a copy of the bible to everyone

It does not make sense that God wants people to pray for missionaries for them to bring them the message of God. If god wants them to be saved, then why doesn't he just automatically send a copy of the bible to their house?

Having a copy sent to you automatically would be one of the easiest ways to get salvation.
