Hilton Tulum vs Cancun all inclusives

I have 2 Free Night Awards to use along with an Aspire resort credit, so we're planning a 3 night stay at either the the all inclusive Hilton Tulum or Hilton Cancun at the end of this month

We live in Merida, so we can easily drive to either resort

We were actually supposed to be going to the Conrad Tulum next week, but one of our cats got sick, so we had to cancel. After thinking it over, my wife decided she'd rather do an all inclusive for our rescheduled trip.

We've stayed at both the Hilton Tulum and Hilton Mar Caribe before, and we liked Tulum quite a bit more, but we haven't been to Hilton Cancun yet.

For those who have stayed at both Hilton Tulum and Hilton Cancun, which would you choose and why? One issue we've run into at Hilton all inclusives is getting reservations for the specialty restaurants. Is Hilton Cancun different enough to be worth trying, or would you go back to Tulum?

Tell me about living in Church Hill

My wife and I are in our late 50s, retired and considering a move to Richmond and the Church Hill neighborhood seems like it checks a lot of our boxes

For those of you who live in Church Hill, how do you feel about the area overall? I've read that there are issues with crime - Are there particular blocks or sections people generally try to avoid, especially for someone new to Richmond?

Limit to the number of moderators in a sub?

I'm a moderator of a large and very active subreddit. We currently have 23 moderators, but 15 of them are marked inactive. Because of the workload, I'd like to recruit additional moderators, but I'm not sure if there might be a limit on the number of moderators a subreddit is allowed to have

Costco Mexico selection vs US

I live in Mexico and shop at Costco regularly, and every time I visit a Costco in the US I'm amazed by how much larger the selection is

The Mexican Costcos are generally well stocked and carry the basics, but the difference in variety is huge. In the US it seems like there are multiple options for everything

For those who have shopped at Costco in other countries, Is the US selection noticeably larger, or is this mainly a Mexico vs US difference

Addressing some recent questions about how r/PuertoVallarta Is moderated

A note from the mod team regarding a post yesterday criticizing the moderators for "ruining the subreddit." Unfortunately, the OP deleted the post before we had a chance to respond publicly

The main complaints seemed to be that we do not allow advertising, that we remove some photo-only posts, and that we allow too many low-effort questions that could be answered with a simple Google search.

Regarding advertising: we do allow advertising  posts from regularly contributing members on Mondays. However, if we allowed unrestricted advertising and self-promotion, the subreddit would quickly become a wall of tour operators, real estate agents, Airbnb hosts, restaurant promotions, etc competing for attention. Most people come here for information, discussion, trip planning, local news, and community interaction, not to scroll through ads.

As for photos with no context - We have found that many of those are associated with bot accounts and karma farming. Photos are welcome, but we have a rule that stand alone photos need to have some context, information, or a discussion point that helps create engagement and gives the community something to respond to.

The complaint about low-effort posts is fair. We do have a rule against posts that show little or no effort to research the answer first. However, the volunteer mod team simply does not have the time or energy to review every single post and comment that appears in the subreddit.

If you see a post that violates the rules or doesn't belong in the subreddit, please use the Report feature and we will review it.

I also wanted to mention that Reddit itself automatically filters some posts and comments, especially from brand-new accounts or when its systems flag something as potential spam or abusive content.

In addition, we have the subreddit configured to filter content from accounts with very low karma to reduce spam and discourage trolls using throwaway accounts. These filters are applied automatically and are not personal or selective. Filtered posts and comments go into a moderation queue for manual review.

No moderation team is going to make everyone happy all the time. Our goal is to keep r/PuertoVallarta useful, informative, and enjoyable for the majority of the community. Without some rules and moderation, the subreddit would quickly become cluttered with spam, self-promotion, bot content, and repetitive low-value posts.

We appreciate everyone who contributes positively to the community and helps us keep the subreddit a valuable resource for residents and visitors

EDIT to add:

The rules for the subreddit can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/mod/puertovallarta/rules/

Does Richmond limit the number of pets in a home?

I'm a retired licensed veterinary technician and my wife and I are considering moving to the city of Richmond and would be purchasing a home. We currently have 8 cats, all spayed/neutered and well cared for.

They are former street cats that we spayed/neutered and socialized - we're not “crazy cat people,” just a small household with multiple pets.

Does the city have any ordinances limiting the number of cats in a private residence?

Thank you, r/Detroit - We had a great first time visit

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone in r/Detroit who offered recommendations before our trip.

My wife and I are originally from San Francisco but now live in Mexico. We had just spent five nights in Chicago and decided to spend three nights in Detroit afterward. This was our first visit, and we came away very impressed.

Detroit seems gets a pretty bad rap in the media and online discussions, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. Our experience was very different. We stayed downtown and found the area to be clean, safe, and much more vibrant than we anticipated.

We enjoyed walking around downtown and were impressed with the public spaces. There were food trucks, outdoor seating areas, and plenty of places to relax and people watch. It felt like a city that is investing in itself and moving in a positive direction.

We rode the QLINE to the Detroit Institute of Arts and spent time walking around Midtown. Based on recommendations from this subreddit, we stopped at Old Miami and Honest Johns , which were exactly our kind of dive bars. While we were at Old Miami, the tornado sirens started going off, which made for a memorable experience!

Food was a mixed bag. We had one of the best breakfasts we've had in a long time at Dime Store, but unfortunately one of the worst meals of the trip at Pegasus Tavern in Greektown. We also enjoyed getting our drink on and getting snacks at Nemos, Side Hustle Lounge, The Detroiter, and Greenwich Time Pub.

Thanks again for helping make our first visit a great one!

Hilton London House Chicago Curio Collection

Hilton London House Curio Collection is a gem! This was our second stay, spending 5 nights there, and it was just as impressive as the first.

We used 300,000 Hilton points for 5 nights (5th night free) and it worked out to be an excellent redemption at 0.9 cents per point. (I only use Hilton points for 5 night stays to maximize value)

As a Diamond member, we were upgraded to a 16th floor corner studio that overlooked Michigan Avenue and a partial view of the Chicago River and the Tribune Building. The room was divided into two separate spaces by a partition wall with a TV on one side and a mirror on the other that could be rotated, allowing the TV or the mirror to be viewed from either area. One side had a comfortable sitting area with chairs and a desk, then other side was with the sleeping area with a very comfortable king size bed. The room also had a mini refrigerator. The room wasn't huge, but it was very stylish and thoughtfully designed,

Our Diamond benefits included a $36 daily food and beverage credit, which we used for drinks at the bar or room service every day.

Every employee we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.

If you're visiting Chicago, this is a fantastic hotel in an unbeatable location. Highly recommended!

ORD United Club review

My wife and I had some time to kill before a Monday morning ORD-DTW flight that ended up being delayed nearly 2 hours due to thunderstorms.

We started at the United Club near B6 in Terminal 1. Nice lounge, not crowded when we arrived around 830am, and we were able to get seats at the bar. Bartenders were friendly and quick with the drinks. The lounge has buffet stations at both ends with scrambled eggs, tortillas for breakfast tacos, fruit, yogurt, bagels, and other breakfast items. One question - why do all lounge toasters seem to take forever and still only produce mildly toasted bread?

After we headed to our gate in T2 another delay was announced, so we went to the United Club near F9. Didn't check out the food there and just sat at the bar. Unfortunately, the bartender kept counting her tip money without washing her hands afterward, and I also saw her cough directly over the ice well and drink garnishes - Gross!

“Destination Credit - Comp” on final receipt?

I’m reviewing my final receipt for room service and the hotel bar - in addition to the daily F&B credit. There are also lines for “Destination Credit - Comp” with daily credits ranging from $5 to $26. What are these credits for?

EDIT TO ADD - not sure if it makes a difference but I’m diamond status and booked the hotel using points

What to do on a last day in Chicago?

My wife and I are in Chicago for a second visit, staying in the Loop, and today is our last day of a 5-day trip. Looking for ideas to make the most of it.

We’ve already covered a lot on this trip and a previous visit:
Wrigley Field (x2), Logan Square, Wicker Park, The Loop, River North, Gold Coast, Pilsen, Lincoln Park, Millennium Park, Art Institute, Washington Park, Hyde Park, and we also did the river architecture boat tour.

We’re skipping museums today and just looking for ideas for a final day - mostly into walking around, neighborhoods, food spots, views, or anything that feels uniquely Chicago.

Staying in the Loop, so anything accessible via the L or on foot is perfect.

What would you do with one last day

EDIT - THANKS EVERYBODY FOR ALL THE GREAT SUGGESTIONS - WE'RE GOING TO CHINATOWN AND BRIDGEPORT

Blue Line from Loop to O'Hare with luggage vs taking Uber on Monday morning?

How crowded are Blue Line trains from the Loop to O'Hare on Monday mornings?

We are staying at the London House Hotel at Michigan Avenue and E. Wacker and need to be at O'hare Monday morning by 9am for an 11:00 am flight. We were hoping to be able to take to take the Blue Line around 8:00am but considering it rush hour we are wondering if Uber might be a better option

How crowded is the train likely to be at that time, heading toward O'Hare? Will we have any issues with carry-on luggage?

If we take the train, Google Maps recommends walking to Washington Station, but Clark/Lake appears to be slightly closer. Does either station have an advantage with better escalator access.

Would taking an Uber be a better option, or is traffic to O'Hare likely to be heavy at that time on a Monday morning? If Uber is recommended, how long would you expect the trip to take?

Re-verification needed of a long linked external account

Has anyone else had Schwab suddenly require re-verification of a long linked external account?

I’ve had my credit union account linked to my Schwab account since I opened it over 10 years ago. I transfer money from Schwab to that account a few times a year and have never had any issues.

Today I tried to transfer $500 and got a message saying they need to verify the account is mine again. Now they’re sending the small trial deposits and I have to wait to confirm the amounts before they’ll process the transfer.

Nothing has changed with the credit union account, and I’ve used it many times before. Is this just a random security review or has anyone else recently had Schwab make them re-verify an existing external account?
