How are the patches in JPEG XL found?

I've been reading the PDF on the JPEG XL Image Coding System, and I was drawn to the patches system which is good for images with lots of repeating elements like letters or icons. Although the PDF I have doesn't really explain how the algorithm for finding them works. I thought maybe an algorithm just goes through every possible patch of the image that is less or equal to a quarter of it, but that would take too long, so I wonder, how are these patches found?

If Jeffery had AI, would he try to prompt it to make scenarios of him doing a school shooting, but 'cause of filters, he has to do that thing where he first starts by asking it a scenario like that but the people as zombies and the guns as PvZ plants, then ask it to tweak it 'til it's realistic?

Weird Dream Where Junior Gave This Thing as a Gift

In the dream, there was a kid with cancer`s birthday, so Junior decided to put a bunch of random bullshit to give as a gift, and he made this thing, and when Cody told him that it wouldn't work, he made a video saying how this thing was really cool and good, which convinced the kid with cancer to take it, but the video also convinced a bunch of other people that it was cool, so he tried to steal it back.
