Canadian Armed Forces Adze?

So I got this (I believe this is an Adze?) from an older fella in Northern Ontario, he just wanted it to have a good home. It has "DND" stamped into both the handle and the head as well as something else on the other side that I can't quite make out. Would I be correct in assuming DND stands for Department of National Defence? I would think that the military would've used them at some point long ago, or am I wrong? Also, what's the tiny hammer for

Any help and info is very much appreciated!

Before and after, Bolo Machete

Picked this up from an old fella who just wanted his stuff admired instead of being thrown out. I wire wheeled it and cleaned up the edge, still needs to be run across a stone though. Didn't bother taking the handle off, didn't want to risk breaking it.

It says made in Japan on the plastic handle, any info is appreciated too.

Best way to restore Griddle to cooking quality

So I picked up a cast iron 9 1/2" by 20" (inside measurements) griddle that I want to restore and use. What's the best way to do this? Boil it and scrub it? Wire brush? Wire wheel then boil? There's some sort of coating flaking on the sides too.

Also what should I use to season it, and would it be safe to use on a glass top stove or span two elements on an electric stove?(glass top stove has a little griddle thingymajiggy spot but it came with a griddle for it) I do have access to a propane BBQ and one of those big aluminum deepfryer pots and burner too if that'll help

Any and all help is appreciated, I've restored a fair few axes but never cast iron. Thank you!

Good Luck Loonie

I found this in my car right before my road trip and figured I had to take it with me. Wether it's lucky or not I don't know, but when you're headed for Thunder Bay, I couldn't just leave it behind. 2005 Terry Fox Loonie

Please help me help my parents

My parents have a land line, Northeastern Ontario, that's how they do they're bills, renew prescriptions, everything. Cell service is spotty out here, my mom has a cell but it barely works out here and doesn't really work with her hearing aids. The grader went by yesterday, gonna take a drive to see if it ripped the line out (has happened before). They have alot of important things to deal with right now, doctors, property issues with the township, etc. What can I do to help them, i.e. get a tech out here quicker. Thank you all!

Foraging resources

Are there any credible groups or books where I could learn how to accurately identify mushrooms available in Northern Ontario? There is an immense amount of mushrooms in the area and I'd like to be able to identify the edible ones with confidence on my own not only for safety sake but also I've seen mushrooms misidentified on reddit (yes someone did warn the OP in this instance). Thank you!

ID? Northern Ontario

These are growing on a small hill in mixed forest (Birch/Balsam mostly) they popped up after a good rain. Google says they're Lobster mushrooms but they look very similar to alot of other mushrooms that I've seen, also I'm not trusting Google lol. Any help on identifying them is appreciated as well as ediblity/look-a-likes although I don't plan on eating them. Thank you!

Info on Aluminum tray

Does anybody know what this is or how much it's worth, Google did not help this time around. It's an Aluminum tray, about 14 inches long on the short side roughly. Thank you!

Fishing along HWY 17

I understand the rules say no asking for fishing spots so remove my post if you must, but I ask for forgiveness as this will be a one time thing, I likely won't be spending more than 30 minutes at a spot, and I don't know where else to get this information without wasting the likely one chance I'll have to do this. If it makes it any better, feel free to DM me here instead of putting it in the comments. Thank you to the members and moderators for your attention.

So, my question, I'm taking a trip up to Thunder Bay at the start of August and breaking it up into a two day drive to get there so I can fish as I go. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to stop to try fishing between Sudbury and Thunder Bay that are 5 maybe 10 minutes off the highway or closer, I will also be stopping in Elliott Lake if there are any good places there. I'm looking to catch anything and everything that's big enough to eat and I will be fishing from shore. To calm any concerns, yes I will be consulting the rules and regulations for each zone and waterbody that I'll be fishing in. Thank you for the help!

I guess I Collect now...Budweiser 125th Anniversary

Now I know this is like the annoying little brother tagging along compared to the rest of the multi tools here but I figured its worth sharing. Got this at a yard sale for 2 bucks, one blade is broken unfortunately. As the title says its a Budweiser 125th Anniversary "multi tool" and the manufacturer appears to be WEIBUSCH & HILGER out of New York?

Remembrance Coins

Wasn't sure what to call them, but this is a small variety of my armed forces related coins along with a close up of my two favourites. Any cool facts about them are welcome too, I'm an amateur.

CAT Brick

I got this a couple years ago from Princess Auto thinking I could put it in my coveralls for work, I was very wrong. Much bigger than I expected, so it comes fishing with me now. No clue if it has a model name but I call it a brick

Practicing multiple photo post.

Did I do this right or is there a better way?

I clicked the photo icon, went to library, press and hold on first photo, then select others, give it the OK and done?

Thank you in advance

(I figured the furballs would make for good practice)

2017 100th Anniversary Toonies

A few years back my parents got me this for my birthday, a 5 pack of Vimy Ridge 100th Anniversary Toonies. Personally haven't seen many in the wild.

Yet another toolbox find: 1965 Churchill

So I'm really not sure if this is actually a proper "coin" as there's no denomination or if it's actually Canadian but here it is! It's a 1965 Churchill "coin" with QE II on the back, I'll put the reverse in the comments. Any info is much appreciated! (Quarter for scale)

"Made In Occupied Japan"

I bought some toolboxes awhile back and I'm going through them and found some cool stuff. One thing I found was this old multi tool (technically a multi tool right?). The only stamp I see on it is "Made in Occupied Japan." From my limited research it was made between 1945 and 1952 (when Japan was considered "occupied") putting it between 81 and 74 years old. The screw in the slot is for locking, I'll put a picture of it closed in the comments too. Any information anyone can provide is much appreciated, thank you in advance!

What are they doing?

Northern Ontario - Bees keep going in this partially burnt log, the log is mostly rotten and we were just trying to get rid of it, but it seems someone called it home. The bees are quite small, maybe a bit bigger than a pencil eraser, and seem fairly docile. They don't look like the honeybees I've seen around, they seem to be shorter yet fatter than honeybees and have grey fuzz (fur?). Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of them but they were going into the log, chewing at the wood, and pushing shavings out. What type of bee are they and are they building a hive or looking for nest building materials? I appreciate any help/advice, sorry I don't know proper bee terminology, also sorry for the rushed writing I'm trying to go fishing before a storm hits but didn't want to forget this. Thank you!
