Dynamic switching of letters displayed on keyboard

I'm looking for a keyboard that can dynamically change the letters displayed on the keys based on the active language being typed. For example, with my current setup if I switch from English to Hebrew the letters naked to the keyboard change but the keyboard still shows English letters. The current "solution" to this problem is to purchase stickers that show the English and Hebrew characters on one sticker.

But what if I also need to type in Russian and Arabic? There are limited to how many letters you can put on a sticker 😅. What I'm looking for is a keyboard that will change the letter displayed on the keyboard key automatically based on there current language selected on the computer.

Does such a thing exist?

Kibutz Galuyot

The kids and grandkids joined my wife and me in Gan Sacher in Jerusalem this evening. The heat of the day was lifting. It seems that the entire city was happy to take advantage of the more reasonable temperatures and the park was packed. At one point I was sitting on a low wall by the swings, enjoying my kids and grandkids and just taking in the scene.

As I was people watching I noticed that the family sitting to my right was speaking French. The family to my left was speaking Spanish. My family and I were speaking English. Two older Ethiopians passed on the walking path behind us speaking Amharic while parents pushed a toddler on a swing speaking Russian.

Last Shabbat we said the blessing for Rosh Chodesh which includes the following:

מי שעשה נסים לאבותינו וגאל אותם מעבדות לחרות. הוא יגאל אותנו בקרוב ויקבץ נדחינו מארבע כנפות הארץ. חברים כל ישראל ונאמר אמן

Amen, indeed!

Where is "the periphery"?

I keep seeing the word פריפריה. What land does this apply to? Is it everything that is not מרכז? Does the term include יהודה שומרון?

EDIT: I find it amusing that the term פריפריה is so commonly used when the responses to this thread make it clear that there is no consensus on what the word means

When flying In Europe does CPAP count against carry on luggage allowance?

In the United States the Federal Aviation Administration has a rule for any flight that originates in the United States that medical equipment (including CPAP) cannot be counted against any luggage allowance when flying.

Does the European Union have a similar rule?

Traveling from Athens to Tel Aviv on Israir - CPAP count as carry on?

I'm flying Israir from Athens to Tel Aviv. I have a CPAP machine in a case. Will Israir charge me for a carry-on to bring the CPAP case on the plane?

I know that in the US airlines are not allowed to count medical devices against your baggage allowance but this flight doesn't start or end in the US. I'm hoping Israel has a similar policy.

Day Use hotel near Athens airport

I am scheduled to land at Athens airport at 0800. I have an outbound flight scheduled for 1830. I'd like to be able to close my eyes and take a decent nap for a few hours. Are there any hotels near the airport that offer a day use rate? Approximately how much should I expect to spend?

Ashkenazim saying Korbanot in Shacharit

My friend is sitting shiva. He asked me to lead tefilot at the minyanim bc his Hebrew isn't strong. I generally attend a synagogue that follows the minhag of Edot Mizrachim.

In Edot Mizrach the chazan reads every word out loud whereas in every Ashkenazi synagogue I've been to the chazzan reads the opening 1-2 sentences of a prayer and the closing 1-2 sentences. Which brings me to my question.

When I've prayed Shacharit in Ashkenazi synagogues it seems to me that they must skip large portions of the Korbanot after birchat hashachar because they move so quickly to kadish and Baruch she'amar. But they're clearly not skipping everything bc they do say a few things out loud.

So when I lead prayers at the Ashkenazi minyan at the Shiva house what do/don't I say for Korbanot? I don't want them waiting for me to read all of Korbanot if it's not their minhag to do so.

So what's the custom? Is it uniform? If not, what do they do in your bet Knesset?

The Quad Fridge Is a Twist on a French-Door Fridge — and It’s Worth a Look | Reviews by Wirecutter

Here are the fine folks at NYTimes Wirecutter (/u/NYTWitecutter) singing the praises of the lesser-known Quad refrigerator design. In this article they do an extensive investigation of the design and functionality of this refrigerator design. They discuss which features are most compelling to the American consumer.

But you know which word never appears in their writeup? Reliability. The fridges highlighted in the article range from $2700-$4600 and there's not a single mention of whether I'm going to replace the thing in 3 years? Perhaps I'm not the typical American consumer but given the general enshittification and planned obsolescence of home appliances and the concomitant increase in prices of said appliances, reliability is perhaps my #1 concern when buying home appliances.

I appreciate that it's difficult to discuss reliability for a specific model given that it takes years to determine if the model is reliable and reviews are done when models are first released. But given the horrible track record of certain manufacturers it would be prudent to at least include a word of warning in any review of any similar products (ahem, Samsung)

Generic name used in Israel for someone who does manual labor?

Some years back I recall hearing that there is a specific man's name used in Israel when referring generally to people who do manual labor. Am I remembering this correctly? Is the name Frank? It's a distant memory so part of me wonders if I'm just making the whole thing up

New to HF: Cannot install model. ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement dictabert-morph (from versions: none) ERROR: No matching distribution found for dictabert-morph

I'm new to Hugging Face so I apologize in advance if I'm doing something stupid.

I'm trying to install the model DictaBERT-morph. I can see that it exists. I tried to install the model using pip install dictabert-morph and also pip install dicta-il/dictabert-morph. But I received the following errors:

ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement dictabert-morph (from versions: none)

ERROR: No matching distribution found for dictabert-morph

I tried to debug the problem using the advice on this website but I'm still unable to get it installed. I'm not quite sure what my next debugging steps should be and would appreciate any guidance you can offer.

programmatic method to look up חלקי הדיבר, זכר או נקבה and מילת יחס

Does anyone know of a programmatic resource whereby I can programmatically query for a word's part of speech, gender, and preposition? I have a number of Anki vocabulary cards and I want to update them with this additional information. Bonus points if you can point me to a resource where I can provide a Hebrew word and it will return a sentence using that word.

Thanks in advance

Tisha B'Av in Israel: Ordinary business day or something else?

I'm curious as to how Tisha B'Av observances impact the general rhythm of daily life in Israel. Does it depend on what municipality/neighborhood you're in? Or are there some practical observances which are generally observed nationwide?

Do people go to work? Are stores open? Can you get an appointment at a bank or doctor's office on Tisha B'Av?

Template assistance: How do I achieve my desired functionality?

I'm using Anki for language learning. I'd like to have cards with the following behavior: Initial display of language 1, mouse click to display language 2 and prompt the user for feedback (Easy, Good, Hard, Again). After collecting userfeedback I'd like to show some supplemental information.

Conversely I'd like to have cards with the following behavior: Initial display of language 2, mouse click to display language 1 and prompt the user for feedback (Easy, Good, Hard, Again). After collecting user feedback I'd like to show the same supplemental information.

Is there an existing card template that provides this type of functionality? If not can you suggest how it might be achieved? I've never even edited a card template so please ELI5

K75 Platinum - Did I kill it?

I an staying at a friend's house while they are out of town. They have a K75 Platinum and left me an assortment of K cups. A few days back I enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning and then went out for the day. When I returned at night I wanted to brew a cup of decaf but the machine didn't respond to any of the buttons I pressed.

I was looking around online and happened across some information mentioning auto-on and auto-off times and I saw that they were set on my friend's machine. I figured that the Keurig must have been unresponsive the night before because it was in auto-off mode. Does that seem correct?

Anyway, I turned off the auto-off/auto-on functionality and I was able to brew myself a cup of decaf that night.

The next morning when I went to use the machine the back of the machine was warm and it was unresponsive to any button pushes. I unplugged the machine with the goal of resetting it. I waited a minute and plugged it back in. And nothing appeared on the screen at all.

Did I break my friend's Keurig?

Bialetti vs everyone else.

Amazon lists a 6 cup aluminum Bialetti moka pot for $53. I bought a 6 cup aluminum moka pot from no-name brand IMUSA for $12. I've been using it daily for a year and am very satisfied with the coffee it produces.

Does Bialetti give me anything more for the premium price or am I just paying for the brand name?

EDIT:

Looks like this is a popular topic of conversation without a strong consensus on a given answer. Plenty of people said they couldn't tell the difference between their knockoff and Bialetti and plenty said that it was a night and day difference.
