Swift driver looking for help

Hey all, just started with Swift. Went with swift to get my CDL quick since i could not afford private pay. Now im a month in and my paychecks are 200-400 a week after child support is taken out. I cant afford this. Would it be best for me to get my year in then jump ship, or jump ship now and drive local for Coca Cola or a beer company?

Help getting out of debt.

I’m 36 yo, divorced, and currently 65k in debt including car and student loans and some credit card debt. I’m currently a truck driver in my first year making approximately 400-500 a week after child support is taken out. I live with my parents when I’m not on the road. My main expenses come out to 1300 a month. I’m not where I want to be financially and I’m able to admit that most of it is my own doing. I’m wanting to dig my way out of debt. I plan on following Dave Ramsey baby steps and I am currently on step 1. My goal is to get a better paying trucking job next year once I get my experience In. With making so little right now, what can I do to get ahead?

Are bears really an issue?

I’m researching living in the UP. I bailed on the camper idea and thinking about a Yurt instead. I’m curious about bears and homesteading. I want bees and livestock and was wondering if bears are really an issue or if they are more shy? What precautions would I need to take if I lived in the middle of the woods In the UP?

What is yurt living like?

I’m considering buying a yurt to live in when I buy property in the UP. It wouldn’t be permanent but I’d live in it for a few years while I built a cabin or pole barn house. Would a 30ft yurt be big enough for a small family? Is it hard to put in plumbing and electrical?

Moving to the UP. Is it possible to live in a camper?

I’m planning a move to the UP. I’m going to buy land and use it as a campsite while I get my septic, well, and other utilities installed and eventually put in a barn style home. In the meantime, I was wondering if it would be possible to live in a camper in the UP short term while finishing the interior of the barn? I’d build a canopy over the camper to keep snow off it. Would I just be better off buying a tiny home?

Will Swift fire me for being late to delivering?

Yesterday a bad accident on I 81 involving 2 semis and a fatality shut down the expressway on my route. Based on my clock and running only on recaps, I was not going to be able to make it to the next rest area or truck stop in enough time to shut down with the traffic delay so I had to shut down early. Today that left me with 570 miles to drive to my delivery, but there was construction a significant part of my trip. I made it 420 miles before i realized my clock would not allow enough time to drop and hook and make it to a place to stop so i shut down again an hour and half away from my destination. I feel like im always running into these issues trying to race my clock. I feel like im always behind. Will swift fire me if I continue to have these issues?

Is Arizona a good place to homestead?

I’m a truck driver from Michigan and I hate winter. I don’t mind heat, but I’m interested in buying 2-5 acres in Arizona to build a homestead over the next few years. Is gardening and raising livestock possible in Arizona? What about snakes and scorpions? Are they a problem? Is there a lot of good recreation possibilities? I want to get into mountain biking and I enjoy hiking and fishing.

Anyone off grid part time?

I’m currently a truck driver and I get to visit the whole country. It’s got me recently thinking about wanting to travel more or possibly buying cheap land out west and setting up an off grid vacation spot and slowly making it how I want until I retire. I’m thinking Colorado or Arizona for different reasons. Anyone else do this?

Glad to be part of the club again

Had to grow my hair out again for a mandatory hair follicle test to start a new career and it was awful. Now that I have the job I’m happy to be bald again! Feels so good

I quit weed 8 months ago, got a new career, never looking back.

I was a heavy user 8 months ago working at a job barely making ends meet. I was at my worst with my mental health and had to take a reality check that the doctors may be telling me the truth that weed wasn’t helping me but making my condition worse. I decided to listen to them and quit the weed for good. Now fast forward 8 months, i got my CDL license and now driving truck for a great company with the ability to make great money. My mental health has improved and i couldnt be happier. If i can quit, you can too.

Does it get better when I have my own truck?

Currently in the mentor phase and I have been sharing a truck with my mentor for 3 weeks. It’s been okay for the most part except not having my own space or own routine. I should be getting my own truck this next week. Will things get better once I have my own truck?

This is at a card shop for 95.00. Should I pick it up? I’m looking to sit on some stock for awhile and is this collecting worthy?

I’m thinking about buying one of these to hold on to unopened for a few years? Do you think this price is too much and do you think it will increase over the years?
