Actress Hayden Panettiere’s estranged mother’s statement on Hayden’s death

Actress Hayden Panettiere’s estranged mother’s statement on Hayden’s death

Actress Hayden Panettiere passed away two days ago, and I’ve been seeing various headlines about responses from actors and actresses that had worked with her. All of them have been sweet.

Unfortunately, her estranged mother Lesley Vogel released a statement as well. Hayden wrote in her autobiography how her mother used her as a work horse, and she was earning the family money before her first birthday. She said, “Everything was business. I became the confidant and the assistant and the therapist and the shoulder to cry on and everything but her child.” (Source)

Hayden’s mother took zero accountability for her role in Hayden’s mental health and substance issues and instead blamed Hayden’s boyfriend, saying, “This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson. There is a lot of history in the past that Brian has enabled Hayden many times and this is why her father and I had been concerned for a long time about him.” (Same source)

I enjoyed Hayden as an actress, but didn’t follow her on social media or keep up with her life updates. I don’t have a parasocial connection to her and I didn’t know she released a memoir recently.

I’m posting because reading about her mother using her like a piggy bank and personal assistant while working her to the bone, then blaming others for Hayden’s struggles made me angry and sad. It’s too bad even in death her mother wouldn’t acknowledge how she had used and abused someone she was supposed to protect and has completely externalized any accountability.

I suppose I’m posting because if anyone will understand the anger I’m feeling, it’s you all. Of course I’m not a celebrity and never will be, but I can relate to the feeling of being abused by the people meant to protect you. It sickens me Hayden couldn’t know a world without her abuser in it.

I hope Hayden is at peace.

What’s with the weird AI girl Netflix has on the title card for “Scream 3”?

Like who is that supposed to be? Is it all of the girls melded together? Is it just AI? Who’s in the know?

This kitty cookie jar looked like a pig to me at first glance

I saw this in an antique store for $70 (an outrageous price IMO) but was convinced it was a pig at first. Maybe it’s a piggy-kitty hybrid? Lol.

For someone who loves colors and cats!

I found this in the thrift store in Albuquerque NM for $66. It’s not for me, but it was still fun finding in the wild!

Steve Seigh argues on JoBlo that Kevin deserved better than the promotion that Amazon Prime gave it

Part of what he had said in a past review:

>I need people to get on board with Kevin, because while it works as a complete eight-episode season, I want more. The cast of characters is too good not to get more from them in future episodes. Wait until you meet the Conservative-leaning dog, Bear, the Acorns-Anonymous basket case squirrel, Glen, or Peter, the rat in a dog costume with a passion for theatrics. As I’d said, it’s an outstanding cast.

>Kevin is a brilliant addition to a flourishing era of adult animation. The animal-inspired comedy is laugh-out-loud funny and relatable, while the cast goes above and beyond to deliver show-stopping performances that will stay with you. If you’re an animal lover or pet owner, you owe it to yourself to experience this series, perhaps with an alcoholic beverage or sweet-smelling doob from the dispensary down the street.

Part of what he said in this article:

>Maybe I’m out of touch (though, with this job, I’m not sure how I could be), but I never once saw any promotion for Kevin beyond a few articles and a billboard or two. How did Amazon expect this show to find its audience with so little (apparent) effort? Kevin deserved better. I hope it finds another home down the road.

Molly’s weave on S16 was absolutely horrendous

They did her so dirty with this weave, and then they took it out AND PUT IT BACK IN.

It looks like a rejected wig from a circus horror film or something. It’s just so bad.

[39/M] looking for other platonic gay pen pals to feel more connected to our community 🏳️‍🌈

Hello future friends!
I'm looking to connect with gay snail-mail pen pals in my dual quests to develop more analog hobbies and feel more connected to the world. I spend too much time on my phone and getting pen to paper helps me to feel unplugged. I currently have some awesome pen pals, but none are gay men and I’d like to forge some connections with other gay guys.

Me:

I'm a child-free guy who lives in the American Southwest in the desert with my husband and our adopted cat, a six-year-old girl who loves her belly being petted but hates being picked up. She spends a lot of the day in her window bed in my home office, baking in the sun and snoozing away.

I enjoy pen palling, reading, journaling, personal archiving, board games, reading the news, TV, trying new cuisines, and movies. I watch a lot of films and love Letterboxd.

I collect autographs from my favorite movies, Furbies, books, German hyper-inflated paper money, and stickers. I'm very much in a millennial nostalgia phase at the moment, so any media from that time period is catching my eye.

I've had a long mental health journey and am open about that if pen pals want to chat about psychology, mental health, etc.

You:

I'd love to connect with guys who want to develop a long-term friendship solely through letters and mail and keep it offline. I'd likely fare best with people who are liberal, or at least open-minded.

I want to hear all about your hobbies, interests, dreams, goals, disappointments, etc. Even if I don't share the same passion, I love hearing about hobbies and the things that interest others. I'm an open sounding board for any thoughts you've got!

The process:

Ideally I'd like to exchange about a letter a month or so, but anything is better than nothing and I’m not on a strict timetable at all. I enjoy sending stickers or little pieces of ephemera along with my letters, but there's no pressure for you to do the same.

If anything resonated with you, please DM me!

Aubrey Plaza is open to a new network picking up the show

In the wake of the series being cancelled by Amazon Prime, in her Instagram post announcing the show being axed, she said this:

>"Maybe Kevin will find a new owner someday. Love you all very much. Meow."

So maybe all hope isn't lost! Time will tell.

Kevin has been cancelled

Sadly, Kevin has been axed. Prime has opted not to renew the series for a second season. You can read about it on The Hollywood Reporter here.

Plaza said:

>“I want to say thank you to all the fans that watched our show and all of the incredible cast and crew that worked so hard to make this dream come alive. I remember on the early days of Parks & Rec when we all thought we would be cancelled because our ratings weren’t great. Our numbers. But we had some special humans over at NBC that believed in the show and let us grow and let audiences fall in love with our characters. I was hoping for this for ‘Kevin’ but sadly we are living in a different time in our industry. I hope the machines won’t ruin everything. Maybe Kevin will find a new owner someday. Love you all very much. Meow.”

Salsitas unfortunate recipe change

I tried El Sabroso’s Salsitas for the first time in a long while, and the taste has substantially changed. They taste nothing like they used to.

Had they not been in the Salsitas bag, I honestly wouldn’t have recognized the taste, and the taste was bad. It consisted of a super thin corn chip with only a hint of flavor and some salt, and was stale despite not being anywhere near the “best by” date. I remember when these chips looked reddish, not yellow from the corn chip. Gone are the days of flavor from this brand.

I’m really disappointed! See ya, Salsitas!

Loud Blonde/Kelly Cochran body shaming women from her public Reddit profile

I’m always surprised when influencers use their main public profile to body shame women or to be shitty to others. Why not sign into an alt? Or how about not body shaming women because they lost weight? That would be even better.

Loud Blonde™️ kept her profile on Reddit active and open when I checked it earlier this evening, and wow, she can get downright nasty.

Searching for Brimhall Elementary School yearbooks

Hello all!

I know this is a long shot, but I'm searching for Brimhall Elementary School yearbooks from 1992-1997 if anyone has one they're willing to part with. Of course I'm happy to pay for it, as well as cover S&H through USPS.

I’ve emailed Brimhall and Jostens, looked in the library system, and looked on classmates(.)com and haven’t found anything.

I'm in a nostalgic period in my life and don't have any yearbooks from that period. I'd love to be able to see one, and it doesn't matter if there's writing in there/if they're used.

Any help or leads appreciated!

Looking to buy Discovery Community School 1997/1998 yearbook

Hi all!

Does anyone have a Discovery Community School yearbook from the 1997/1998 school year they'd be willing to part with? DSS is in Waite Park, Minnesota.

This elderly millennial is in a nostalgia phase. I'm looking for that specific edition, and used/written on/marked up is completely fine!

Of course I'm willing to pay for the yearbook, as well as cover S&H through USPS. Alternatively, if you know of where I can order one or there's an online archive, I'd welcome that info as well.

Many thanks!

What’s Judy’s job at this point?

Judy is ostensibly the team choreographer, but she isn’t choreographing anything anymore and hasn’t since I started watching the show (from what I can remember of the first two seasons). The routines have been set, and at this point Kelli and Judy are just watching to make sure they’re performing the pre-set routine close enough.

When there is new choreography, they have guest choreographers come in and teach, as we saw in season 3. Not once in season 3 did we see a single new piece that Judy had choreographed.

So what’s her job at this point? What’s she offering the organization?

What’s with Reece’s baby voice affectation?

I absolutely cannot stand when people do the baby voice affectation. Did anyone else catch this and have it bother them?

Kelli complaining about a swimsuit post

So help me out, because I’m not understanding.

Kelli took issue with one of the girls (can’t remember which at the moment) posting a picture on social media of her in a swimsuit, and I’m so confused.

The cheerleading outfits are very provocative, the calendar they do is provocative, and movements are provocative… which I’m all on board with. But then when someone posts a picture in a bikini (probably at a beach or pool), suddenly Kelli is acting like she’s Mother Superior at a convent and that girl is running away from the nunnery to corrupt the local church children.

Does Kelli just not like these girls? What’s the deal since they’re effectively showing the same among of skin?
