Josh Wingell - The Worcester Night Market by Ricema was an absolute smashing success! I’ve never seen so many people at an event downtown. Hopefully next time it can expand to Front St! I got so many photos of dancers and vendors and crowds. What an awesome event for downtown Worcester!

I'm lucky enough to live 10 minutes from one. I'm an avid moviegoer and the RR is literally right next door to the theatre in a huge shopping plaza. Everytime I go to the movies which is at least every other weekend, I go to Red Robin first.

I saw the film last night and the way his character is written in the film it totally would have made sense that this is where his character ended up. Especially if Wharmpess Beer went under.

Shout out to Oviedo though I should be gatekeeping it. Had a great time there. Yeah but this was funny lol.

I've always tied my travel to events. Concerts, sporting events, festivals, food tours, etc. Getting in the path of totality is the ultimate event. It's one of those things you can sing the praises of until you're blue in the face but if someone isn't already interested in on their own, the only thing that will convince them is seeing totality on their own.

But I also find a lot of people are just misinformed on what totality is and how it differs from any other kind of eclipse. A lot of people have seen a partial eclipse and think it's the same thing so when you start to talk to them about a total eclipse they just say they've already seen one and it's nothing special. And they're right. A partial eclipse is nothing special.

Of course, to each their own, but the way I view it, let's say you wanted to go to Egypt or Morocco for example. Well, on August 2, 2027, there's going to be a SIX MINUTE long total eclipse. Which for eclipses is an eternity. If you already want to go to one of those countries, why not time it around the eclipse? It just makes sense to me. People go to Spain all the time but they don't get a total eclipse out of it, which I truly believe is the dopest naturally occurring phenomenon you can experience.

I think when eclipse travel is mentioned people think it means you are just flying somewhere to look at the sun. Like you're just gonna sit in your hotel for two weeks doing nothing but waiting for that one moment. Hell nah.

This is my first time in Spain and I've been exploring the fuck out of it. I'm also happy to report that I have not had any personal experiences with racism or anything unbecoming. I read a lot of horror stories in this sub prior to my trip that had me a little nervous but I feel like for the most part everyone keeps to themselves but in the cases I did have to interact with anyone people have been very friendly.

Madrid and Barcelona are easy enough as almost anyone you will encounter will speak English, Oviedo however, in the Asturias province, there will definitely be a language barrier if you don't speak Spanish, which I don't. Yet and still, Oviedo was far and away the highlight of this trip. Voted the gastronomy capital of Spain in 2024 I think, the food was among the best I've ever eaten. One of the cleanest if not the cleanest cities I've ever been to, super friendly and helpful people. Immediately top 5 cities I've ever been to.

But yeah y'all. Start planning trips around getting yourself in the path of a total eclipse. We know when and where every total eclipse path will be for as long as any of us will be alive so you got plenty of time.

Shout out to Spain for a great trip

I planned this trip a year ago and settled on Oviedo as the location due to its proximity to the center line and proximity to the beaches of Gijon. But also due to its location allowing me easy access to pivot inland if needed. And boy was it needed!

Best of both worlds. Saw the eclipse of course but also got to spend the last three days in Oviedo and I absolutely love this city.

Off to Barcelona tomorrow before heading back to Boston.
