What is the single funniest Dave quote? (In your own opinions)
I wanna apologize to my girlfriend, because I don’t fool around on the road. AND IT MAKES ME MAD!
I wanna apologize to my girlfriend, because I don’t fool around on the road. AND IT MAKES ME MAD!
I feel like Donald’s having fun with this.
But never impossible.
Sadly the Peace Sells/Rust in Peace lineups can never reunite due to the losses of Gar and Nick.
But what about the SFSGSW lineup reuniting?
Like I said: it’s EXTREMELY unlikely. Junior and Jeff are on pretty bad terms with Dave to this very day.
Why MLB never considered expanding to Vancouver is beyond me. Certainly couldn’t happen today with THIS as the best ballpark available
Somehow it must have stuck around until the early 2000s, on 9/11 of all days. Weird.
Den Bosch in 1992 was a drunken mess, but Jason absolutely crushed it. I wish I had better quality video or audio from the 1996 Texas Stadium show or 2000 Sparta show where he had to fill in for James, That one counts solely on the rarity of Jason having to fill in for James.
To boil it down to 2 primary things where they do work: Rust In Peace to Cryptic Writings. The main thing was the dynamics that were fixed are pieces of criticism elsewhere.
Main example: Lars, James, and Fleming Rasmussen completely dropping the ball on the mix on And Justice For All.
The Album’s an undeniable piece of Metal history forever, and I cannot take anything away from that.
Primary issue, as I’m sure you’re all aware, the lacking presence of the bass tracks in the mix left it without a punch. One thing that’s also severely overlooked, but criticized by Steve Thompson: Lars’ horrific drum sound.
I know he overly cranked up the overtone on St Anger with a detached snare drum that made it sound like a trash can, but the snare on AJFA sounds like he’s beating the shit out of a shoebox, it’s pretty awful. Thompson even said it sounded like shit during the mixing sessions.
Nick Menza will ALWAYS be a better drummer than Lars, but the mixing of his drums on Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction for that matter; they fall into the same problems as the mix on AJFA, the mix just ruins his snare and kick tones and doesn’t hold the same attack as they do in the remaster. The Basslines and the Rhythm guitar are a lot sharper in the remasters too, on top of Nick’s drum tracks being tuned to actually hold weight in the levels and attack furiously along with the rest of the tracks. They got David Silveria’s snare tone from Life is Peachy and used it to make everything from Rust in Peace Onward to give it such a furious rhythm section that stands above the crowd.
Having Said that…
The 2004 Remasters for Peace Sells, and SFSGSW are TERRIBLE.
Gar’s thunderous drum tracks on Peace Sells decided to trade EQs with 1988 Lars Ulrich and fall flat, basically killing the aggression, and heaviness, or even the Jazz influence that added to the songs beautifully. The Guitar tracks sound almost like they were stacked over a synthesizer, and it feels so overprocessed.
SFSGSW, they slapped the same EQ as the Rust in Peace remaster, and it goes together like water and electricity. The muddy, low-end heavy guitar and bass feel like they’re being anchored to a treble-happy drum track that does not flow with the rest of the album at all.
Thankfully!
The 2011 Peace Sells Remaster fixed all of those issues I mentioned, No complaints about
Hopefully SFSGSW gets a proper remaster some day.
I personally LOVE the hidden gem from the White Pony sessions. I’m sad that it’s not available on Spotify or Apple :( Teething’s another one that I could only find on Apple. Boys Republic is a great song though
my picks:
Beethoven’s fifth (stolen from Dave)
Exploded Diper (also stolen from Dave)
Iron Man
Hound Dog
Break Stuff
I‘m always gonna be a bigger Megadeth fan than I am of Metallica, but I gotta agree; it’s pretty funny LOL
The Catholic Church stole amazing grace after Dave got kicked out, can you believe they stole his music too?
I’d make a Mount Rushmore in this way:
Norcal:
Testament
Exodus
Forbidden
Death Angel
Socal:
Slayer
Megadeth
Dark Angel
Suicidal Tendencies
I know the glam scene took more prominence in LA during the 80s, but these aren’t exactly bands under the radar.
I know 1986 gets renowned for several high profile albums, but look at what 1988 had to offer:
And Justice For All - Metallica
So Far So Good So What - Megadeth
State of Euphoria - Anthrax
South of Heaven - Slayer
How will I laugh tomorrow if I can’t smile today - Suicidal Tendencies
The New Order - Testament
Frolic Through the Park - Death Angel
No Place for disgrace - Flotsam & Jetsam
I know they’re available to season ticket holders now, I’m just hoping to snag some once they open it to the rest of the public
I vote Chris Long. I loved watching him be such a dominant piece of our defense, But then he went to Philly in 2017 and acted as if his best career years were within those lone two seasons with the fucking eagles. I guess our only crime was not glazing him as badly as Philly did.
Fuck Philly. It’s ironic considering He’s from LA, and he has one of the most famous soundbytes in the history of the Rams-Seahawks rivalry
Anyone know what pedals he used at the time? I play a Cort 5 string and a mark bass head
I remember it used to be where you could always find the best cuts of SpongeBob, Invader Zim, ATLA, and others. It just felt like the Cooler option up until their rebrand.
From around 2010-13 they oversaturated it with mid to bottom tier shows like Fanboy & Chum Chum, Sanjay & Craig, Back at the Barnyard, The Mighty B, and worst of all, Zevo 3. The single worst example of Skechers forcing their product placement in an effort to look cool in the single cringiest show Nick ever greenlit.
The cringiest moment for me was when they had an original rock song made for their buffers, it was SO BAD. Something like “you’ll never find me, me and my army” or something like that. It was like watching a network your 45 year old teacher produced in his feeble attempt to look cool to all the kids.
I miss what it used to be, It’s been years since I’ve seen it. I don’t know what it’s like now. I just hope it’s not as cringey as it was at its worst.
Weird but also cool to see them hanging out for the USMNT game yesterday! Shoutout to Todd Gurley, The Staffords, Jameis Winston, And Jaxson Dart who were ALSO there 😂 I wonder if McVay went too
Whoever you are, keep up the good work! Thank you!
