'Star Wars: Starfighter', 'Lucky' finale: Jonathan Tropper Talks All

But even more fun, we talk with Tropper about landing the screenwriting gig for next summer’s original Star Wars* universe film, Starfighter,* which we just caught a glimpse of at D23.

“I was fortunate to have done three movies before with Shawn Levy. They approached Shawn and said we want you to do a Star Wars movie, and you can pick your writer,” said Tropper, “And I landed the gig.”
At the time that Levy and Tropper made their deals, they didn’t know exactly what Starfighter* *would be.

In Star Wars: Starfighter, Ryan Gosling, plays cynical rogue Kade Auberon. He’s confronted by his mysterious past and is hurled into a dangerous adventure across the galaxy that puts him on a crash course with destiny. Along for the ride with Kade, is a precocious child played by Flynn Gray. The title starship is a G17 Imperial Reaper, the fastest ever built. It just so happens to be in Kade’s garage.

“What we wanted to do was to tell a story that was free of (Star Wars) mythology. We were out ahead in the timeline, and we wanted something with as few barriers of entry as possible for new fans and viewers,” says Tropper.

“This isn’t a Skywalker saga movie… we’re not dealing with the history of the Rebellion, the First Order, the Resistance or the Empire, we’re kind of beyond all that” he says, “It’s a simpler movie.”

While Tropper, of course, couldn’t reveal any more details about Starfighter, he does expound on his creative shorthand with Gosling. Quite often, Tropper found inspiration in Gosling’s cadence and expressions.

“He would off-handedly say things; I knew that would make its way into the movie,” says Tropper about the Barbie star, “His voice gets in your head.”

Tropper wrote Starfighter* while literally show-running his own series, Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbors, writing pages at nights, weekends and sometimes late afternoons. However, because all below-the-line departments are a go on a Star Wars *movie, quite often great ideas and rewrites came from the crafts side.

“I never experienced this before on a movie, the departments weren’t just executing, they were actually creatively inputting,” he tells Crew Call, “Everything has to be built on a Star Wars movie, you’re not going to Home Depot to get tables.”

Changing the name, username, profile picture and banner of my channel BEFORE posting my first video could mess up the algorithm for me?

Basically, I created a channel on YouTube, added a username, a name, a profile picture and banner. Kept it like that for a while. Then, I had second thoughts about the name and appearance of the channel and decided to change everything (including name and username) to something I believed to be better. Could this mess up the algorithm for me?

Just a few more details: the channel was created some months ago, and has 0 activity so far, no comments, no likes, no videos posted (yet), no nothing. It also has 0 subscribers for the same reasons stated in this paragraph.

If this indeed mess up the algorithm for me, what exactly should I do so I can still begin a channel with the name I think to be the best for me?

On r/saltierthancrait, you’ll be massively downvoted and be called a "pig" just for liking a new Star Wars project

It doesn’t matter it’s a non-canon anime and works as it’s its own thing. You CAN’T like anything Star Wars that isn’t the Original or Prequel Trilogy over there.

A comment from someone being rude and insulting another user with personal offenses receives a lot of upvotes while a comment saying they liked a new Star Wars project gets lots of downvotes. This basically summarizes the subreddit of the so called "true Star Wars fans".

The actor’s appearance isn’t the character’s true appearance

Castiel (Supernatural): Although Castiel spends almost the entire series looking like Misha Collins, that appearance is only his human vessel, Jimmy Novak. As an angel, Castiel’s true form is a massive celestial entity that cannot be fully perceived by humans without overwhelming or even killing them. Throughout the series, it is repeatedly established that angels merely inhabit human vessels to interact with humanity, meaning the actor portrays Castiel’s physical host rather than the angel’s actual appearance.

The Greek Gods (Percy Jackson and the Olympians):
In the Percy Jackson universe, the Olympian gods are immortal beings whose true divine forms are beyond what mortals can safely comprehend. To interact with humans, they choose to manifest through physical appearances that fit the modern world and can change them whenever they wish. The actors portraying Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Athena, Ares, Hermes, and the other gods are therefore depicting temporary human manifestations, not the gods’ real forms, which exist on a higher, divine plane.

The Supreme Intelligence (Captain Marvel): The Supreme Intelligence is not a humanoid being but a powerful artificial intelligence created by the Kree. It has no permanent physical form and instead projects an image tailored to each individual who encounters it, usually appearing as the person they admire, trust, or are emotionally connected to the most. For Carol Danvers, it takes the form of Dr. Wendy Lawson/Mar-Vell, played by Annette Bening. This means Bening is not portraying the Supreme Intelligence’s true appearance, but rather the personalized illusion it creates specifically for Carol.
