Hit the absolute jackpot: A truly NOS 1988 DW-5600C "Speedy" out of a time capsule!

I got incredibly lucky and managed to get a NOS DW-5600C Speedy. A watch shop closed down back in 1988, and the owner put away a bunch of old Casio watches without their batteries. On this one, both the bezel and the strap are perfect, despite being 38 years old. Since it was never worn, the screws didn't rust into the case, so it was super easy to disassemble. I ordered a Brazilian-made aftermarket bezel and strap for it, and the original is going into a box, protected from light and heat to preserve it for the future. I'll be wearing the watch with the new bezel and strap.

From $29 to $1,600 – This is why we love Casio.

This shot perfectly captures why Casio is one of, if not the most lovable manufacturer on the market. Whether it’s a $29 or a $1,600 price tag, they always make watches that you just can't help but be a fan of.

Any news on the Vivosmart 6? My Vivosmart 5 battery is starting to give up.

Rumors about the Vivosmart 6 have been floating around for almost a year now. Around last December, there seemed to be more and more solid info pointing towards an actual release, but it's been radio silence since then. I even heard a rumor from a local Garmin store employee that it’s supposed to launch sometime in Q3 2026, but still, nothing official has been announced.

Meanwhile, my Vivosmart 5 is starting to give up on me. While it’s still accurate, the battery life has degraded significantly—I charged it just two days ago and it’s already down to 40%. It used to last much longer.

Has anyone heard any encouraging news, recent leaks, or FCC filings suggesting the 6 is actually coming soon? I'm debating whether I should hold out a bit longer or just look for an alternative.

Gw-5000HS VS GMW-B5000TB. Both LCD, yet the titanium has so much better contrast. How come?

I asked Gemini this exact question because I was under the impression that both of these had STN LCDs.

The answer came pretty quickly: turns out Casio only uses STN LCD displays in their premium segment, like the full metal squares and the MRG line. The Heritage Series (Japan edition) actually uses a TN LCD, which is why the viewing angle is so much lower.

Apologies in advance to those who are bothered by Gemini usage, but I think it can be a huge help from time to time.

Real-life pics / wrist shots of these two?

I'm currently torn between these two. Based on the stock photos, I think I prefer the darker one, but I have a feeling the lighter version might look way better in person.

If anyone owns either of these, could you please share some wrist shots or real-life pictures? It would help me a lot with my choice. Thanks!

Guilty obsession

Still have 2 open slots left, an MR-G could definitely fit here given the right opportunity. But I'm already very proud of this collection. Only the MIP and the red Energy have 4-screw casebacks, all the others are screwbacks. The B5000TB is the pinnacle, but the 35th and 40th anniversary pieces also hold a special place in my heart, along with the 1988 Speed.

Went for a battery change, left with this amazing Titanium Casio. Might have to steal it from my son!

Today I visited my watchmaker to change the battery in my wife's watch, and my sons came along with me. There are always hidden treasures in his shop. My middle son found this one for himself. I might have to borrow it from him from time to time, because it is an incredibly great piece.

This is a fantastic and relatively rare vintage/neo-vintage piece from Casio’s MTH line.

Material: Both the case and the bracelet are made of Titanium, making the watch incredibly lightweight, comfortable, and hypoallergenic, while maintaining great durability.

Dial: It features a striking, sunburst deep blue dial with clean geometric hour markers and bold hands that offer excellent legibility.

Design: It has a sporty yet clean, diver-style fixed bezel with minimalist minute markers. The crown is well-protected by subtle crown guards.

Movement: Reliable Japanese quartz movement (Module 1830) with water resistance, perfect for a dependable daily wearer.

A truly underrated gem that looks stunning on the wrist!

Born in 1983, collecting since childhood. Here is my G-Shock Square & Casioak collection!

Hey guys! Wanted to share my current G-Shock family. I’m 43 now, and since I was born in 1983, I’ve always felt a deep personal connection to the G-Shock Square series.

The titanium GMW-B5000TB is the absolute king of my Squares, but the Project Team Tough models hold a very special place in my heart as well. I also love the styling of the Casioaks for a more modern rotation.

Almost everything here gets consistent wrist time, but the Squares are definitely dominating my daily wear. Glad to be part of the community!

[SOTC] 43 years old, collecting since childhood. From budget Casios to my Omega Speedmaster 3861 Co-Axial on top.

Hi everyone! I’ve been fascinated by watches since I was a kid. Now, at 43 years old, this is my current collection. It ranges from budget-friendly vintage Casios to the crown jewel of my collection, the Omega Speedmaster 3861 Co-Axial.

As you can see, Casio and Seiko are my biggest weaknesses. I have a soft spot for 70s and 80s LCD models, as well as ana-digi pieces from the 90s and 2000s. My absolute pride among the Seikos is the yellow Rotocall—an original 1982 first edition.

I also resonate deeply with G-Shock Squares. Being born in 1983 myself, I feel a special connection to the birth of this series. The titanium GMW-B5000TB is my absolute favorite, but I truly love the Project Team Tough models as well.

The microbrand and Swiss boxes hold some gems too, like the Tudor Pelagos 39, Doxa Sub 600T, and Marathon GPM. Almost every single piece gets wrist time, though lately, my Casios have been dominating the rotation. What do you think of this mix?

Metallica Budapest 🤟

Tonight is the second night of Metallica here in Budapest. I just can't get tired of this watch—it's the perfect, indestructible concert companion. Plus, the V2 Combi bracelet gives it a truly premium feel. 🤘

Today's choice: The DW-5035D-1B

Hey r/gshock!

Pulled this absolute gem out of the box for today. As you can see, it just looks incredible on the wrist, especially when the sun hits that gold-tinted display.

I wanted to share a few reasons why I think this 35th-anniversary model is one of the best squares Casio has ever released:

Why the DW-5035D-1B is so special:

The "Project Team 'Tough'" Heritage: The inscription on the dial is a direct tribute to Kikuo Ibe and his team who developed the very first G-Shock in 1983. Wearing it feels like owning a piece of history.

Solid Screwback Case: Unlike the standard 4-screw resin/plate back on basic squares, this one features a heavy, DLC-coated stainless steel screw-back case. It gives the watch a substantial, premium weight and feel.

Retro Aesthetics: The classic brick pattern around the display and the gold accents pay perfect homage to the originators, while the amber/gold LCD screen provides awesome legibility.

For me, this model strikes the perfect balance between daily wearability and pure collector value.

What are you guys rocking on your wrists today?
