What CD Albums should I look into if I like Crazy Taxi?

Hi.

I've been making a CD collection to listen to.

Unfortunately there is no 1 Crazy Taxi Soundtrack/Album.

What CD singles/Albums would you suggest I look into to Capture a bit of that Crazy Taxi energy?

What kind of Specs would the succesor to the DE10 Nano need?

I am just curious.

I don't believe improved specs would yield obviously beneficial results until some barely possible feats are achieved and the Core Devs are still pushing the DE10 to run some surprising (hybrid) Cores so it is hard to say what would be an effective upgrade.

(Fable 3) Do you prefer playing as the Prince or Princess during a repeat playthrough?

I'm going to start a fresh playthrough in a couple of week's time.

I was just wondering if there is anything particularly better or more interesting about playing either the Princess or Prince.

Do you prefer Original/Modern Controllers and how do you store everything especially if you have Consoles?

Hi.

It's just a subject that keeps coming back to me. Optimisation vs. Minimalism and all that.

I don't FPGA all the time (been achievement hunting on the 360) but when I do come back to it, I look at my Controller situation.

I find I get caught in-between USB options and Controllers I can use with SNAC adapters. Gradually figuring it out though. Since I like using my Multisystem2, I may just store every Console I don't use with it's respective Controller then keep everything for the FPGA handy.

What is the worst 360 Achievement you have earned?

I've been slowly going through my 360 library and was reminded that not all games handle Achievements equally.

Sometimes the requirements are tedious, demand perfection or are just underwhelming.

What are some bad Achievements that stick out to you?

Today I decided I'm going to part with my Wii U.

The notion of parting with my Wii U has revisited me a number of times.

It is my 2nd Wii U. The replacement for the 1st.

I bought it in 2021 to build a library of games ahead of the eShops closure in 2023.

Every week for about 2 years, I worked my way through the Wii U (and 3DS) eShop from oldest to newest, A to Z, through every Genre and each Virtual platform to check for anything of worth.

211 titles. A big chunk of that is Virtual Console. About 90 titles were specific to the Wii U. I hold a vague sentiment for about 6 games on it.

I haven't used it for 3 years, I don't even know if it still works and I don't feel any kind of FOMO that would compel me to start playing.

Why have I typed any of this?

Well for starters I like the original Wii several times more than the U but more importantly to cement my decision, to vent for some vague sense of closure (I did spend a lot of time/money on it) and perhaps so that someone else reading may consider what matters to them.

Is it foolish that I wish to part with something I spent so much on? Yes.

Is it foolish to hold onto something I'll never use? Also Yes.

I hope y'all have a nice day.

Am I just being needlessly fussy about FPGA tech? What kind of Boat am I sitting in?

Sorry, I just feel like I need rant about technological unhappiness.

A couple of years ago, I decided to put together an NTSC N64 selection of games as I detest the 50hz experience. (I'm from the UK.)

Then the A3D went up for pre-order and despite people's murmurs of disapproval for Analogue. I didn't mind the prospect of waiting as I've done KickStarters before, it would save on modding an N64 and I don't like the N64 Console itself (but I do like some of it's games).

The A3D was taking so long (and my SNES died) that I decided to take interest in the MiSTer FPGA as it was more or less the only Retro platform I hadn't looked into and then the Multisystem2 and SuperStation One popped up. Woo.

Anyway I get the Multisystem2 then the f-ing Analogue 3D showed up on the same day during a work week. It was like Christmas but I didn't have time and I felt fatigue like I was a corpse.

Gave the A3D a shot on firmware 1.0, got the true ending in Star Fox 64 for the first time in my life and then waited for work to settle down so I give the Multisystem2 the time needed to adjust to it.

I concluded that for every pre-Dreamcast Console except maybe N64 titles that I would let the Multisystem2 handle it. I found that I even liked using the Multisystem2 a bit more than my hdmi modded PS1 as the framerate didn't tank under load like with Sim Theme Park when you have a lot on screen.

Anyway I woke up stupidly early today and started seeing the A3D vs. M64 videos. They gave me a headache. I ruminated on needlessly making another purchase. I remembered all the talk of a DE10 successor even though I feel proud to own the Multisystem2 and proud how it's produced in the UK . . .

Please just tell me that I should just ignore all that's going on, update my mostly biodegradable/recyclable machine and play some games . . . Or maybe I just need to disconnect from the Internet for a while and escape the blah-blah.

[Dreamcast] What does VGA mode do to 30fps games?

There are Dreamcast games we assume will run at 60hz/60fps if they are played in VGA mode. This is an especially desirable outcome for the few PAL games that run at 50hz by default.

But what about games that are hardcoded to perform at 30fps such as "Sonic Adventure"? In it's normal 60hz mode (the default for NTSC copies), the game is effectively performing at 30hz which actually halves how responsive the game is to button inputs.

So what happens to 30fps games when you get them to run in VGA mode?

Are the animations still locked to 30fps but the screens refresh rate and input timings double or are you just getting the improved 480p output?

In 10 years time. What Games/Consoles will people talk about? Or will they?

Over the last few Decades (yes we are getting OLDER), we have had many youtubers, people on forums and of course Reddits talking about old games and consoles.

Nes to Gamecube, PlayStation to PlayStation, Mega Drive to Dreamcast to Saturn to Master System/SG1000 to Game Gear(?), Xbox, Neo Geo, PC Engine, Atari, Vectrex, Magnavox Odyssey and whatever else you can hold in your hands. (Sorry if I missed a few)

But I feel like Gaming has changed in one particular aspect which is that medium has become fast moving and disposable.

For those following the modern, it hard to keep up and hard to decide what should become a timeless masterpiece.

So I ask, what Games/Consoles of today do you think people will be talking about in 10 years time? What will serve as new the topics for nostalgic converse about how it used to be?

Is Metal Gear Solid VR Missions a fun game?

I've built up quite the backlog over the years. So I've been going through my mostly unplayed collection and culling a few titles.

MGS 1? I'm keeping it.

VR Mission? Well I got it to explore the small bits of MGS lore but I've heard people describe it as being a tedious so I'm not sure if I want it in my todo list anymore.

People who have played MGS VR Missions. Is it a worthwhile game to playthrough that you could repeat or is it only for the true MGS enthusiast?

Are there any PS1 Racing games you feel are still worth playing despite many newer titles coming out?

There are games that when you look at them in a vacuum (The PS1) retain a good standing or even remain of Legendary Status.

If you were to look outside of the PS1 ecosystem then come back to it, what PS1 Racing Games do you still feel hold their own in some way despite the technological disadvantage?

What is the Worst Trade-In you have made?

Hi. I am curious about some of the worst Trade-Ins people have ever made.

It can be Trade-In related stories about trying to get Cash or about trying to get another Game with said Trade-Ins.

It could be about something you regretted Trading In, the exchange of multiple Games, a bad retail experience, perhaps you were the Cashier who processed that Trade or maybe it was just a bad Trade that you witnessed happening or a Friend told you about it.

How do you go about downsizing a Game Collection?

Hi.

I don't consider myself a Collector but I have a Collection. It nears a 1000 titles across multiple platforms.

I built much of it up with the intension of eventually playing everything but I simply don't have a long enough time to seriously sit down and give every game some solid attention.

It feels like a looming metaphorical weight that sits on my shoulders and hangs from my back.

I have taken steps to refine my approach to storage, have aimed to be selective and committing to avoid hoarder-like behavior but I have to admit it's too much now.

Any pointers on making some aggressive cuts?

[Master System/GameGear][1993?] Fire Emblem-like tile-based RPG-Strategy game.

Platform(s):

Master System and/or GameGear

Genre:

Tile-Based RPG-Strategy

Estimated year of release:

1993?

Graphics/art style:

Slightly Anime. Similar to the older Fire Emblem games.

Notable characters:

The Princess(?), Knights and Mercenaries.

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Weapon Triangle, character recruitment.

Other details:

An enemy Kingdom invades the land. Severely outnumbered, the Princess and her small group of Loyal Knights have to retreat back towards their Capital to join up with the Kingdoms forces to make a stand whilst being pursued and ambushed.

Along the way, the Princess can come across displaced Knights, Soldiers and Mercenaries who can be recruited. However, some of them want Riches, Titles, Power (or something more) for their aid but if the Princess can't keep her promises, her hired help will raise the Kingdom to the grounds themselves.

an Xbox Series X or Earthbound for the SNES?

I have a rather polarising choice to make as a Console Gamer and Collector who both values the present and the past.

After the 27th of June, my plan is to either import a US copy of Earthbound or buy a UK Xbox Series X using the extra earnings from my overtime.

The Series X has a few titles I would be interested in but the main draw is the new Fable game coming out next year.

Earthbound is one of the final SNES games I would like to acquire for my small SNES collection of worthwhile games.

What choice do you think I should make? I feel equally about both options. I felt like asking as it's a bit of an absurd scenario.

Should I get the Series S 1tb or Series X?

I am of 2 minds.

X "I want the best" vs. S "I don't need 4K".

The Series X is obviously the more capable device but I would have to make adjustments to my storage solutions to accommodate it and I'm planning on having a digital library since I'll be getting a memory expansion anyway.

The Series S is more compact/easier to store, I'm only going to be playing in 1080p and my Xbox 360 is going to continue being my Xbox 360.

Q: I've heard that the Series S struggles with some of the more graphically ambitious games (low 20fps whilst the X can easily manage 60fps). - Is this also the case for the 1tb S model with the 10gb of ram?

Q: I've seen comparison videos between the S and X running at 1440p which shows the X has better picture output. - is the Series X and S a graphical match at 1080p?

----

After reading this, which Series Xbox do you think would better suit me? I'm quite on the fence about and feel I need perspective to decide.

US/Canada players, What's the deal with Wing Commander III?

"Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger".

Looking at US prices, the PS1 version costs a lot.

UK prices? PS1 prices have generally depreciated because of the whole 50hz thing though a number of games have continued to maintain a high price.

But maybe the game that was supposed to be on par with the Star Wars franchise is actually a good game? It does holds the rank of cult classic in the 3DO community and is a fairly respected game on GoG.

To the US/Canada players who have the game, is Wing Commander 3 actually a good game or is it just an expensive multidisc collectible?

Which is better? "Mega Everdrive Pro" or the "MegaSD"?

Hi. I'm thinking of getting a flash cartridge for my (region free) Mega Drive.

The best choices on the market I know of are the Mega Everdrive Pro and the MegaSD.

Ignoring their prices (I'd have to import anyway), which would you consider superior or do you consider them to be equals?

[Series Xbox] Between the Xbox Series S and Series X, which do you find easier to clean, repair and reassemble?

This is just a question that's been floating around in head for a while.

I've noticed a lot more console repair videos for the PS5 and Series X hdmi ports compared to say the PS4 and Xbox One generation. Though it's probably more to do with the fact youtube shorts didn't exist during that generations main period, it does give the impression that neither console is that reliable.
