Aughris

Heading to North Sligo tomorrow for a couple of nights staying in the Aughris area.

I'll be taking in Strandhill and Coney Island tomorrow and then I'm attending a heritage week event tomorrow night in Enniscrone.

I'd love some suggestions for Friday of things to do in the area. Think cute coffee shops, markets, charity shops, nice lunch spots etc.

TIA 😉

Erratic bowel movements and flatulence post bypass...

I feel no one talks about this!

I'm living with the above and it's really taking a toll on my life.

Can anyone offer any advise on how they navigated this, as surely I can't be the only person struggling.

I'm 48 and single but this has completely killed the whole notion of ever even dating again and that makes me so sad.

It's put a stop to being able to go away with friends and room share because of the embarrassment.

Recently went to Center Parcs and wouldn't even get into a swimming costume and use the pool because of the state my body after losing a significant amount of weight, albeit I'm still quite overweight.

Feelings of overwhelm are difficult right now.

Thanks for listening!

I'm in Ireland, so if anyone here is too and feels like maybe reaching out to share a chat and a coffee that would be lovely.

Christmas solo, what's your plans?

Curious as to how you single folk out there usually spend your Christmas?

I've family that I can go to but am at the stage where I feel I need to embrace doing my own thing as that's very likely what's in my future.

I'd love to hear how others spend the day/get over it.

Lunch suggestions for tomorrow please!

As above!

Not looking for any fancy overly expensive spots.

Just somewhere with decent grub for a decent price where we can sit a while and relax without feeling rushed. Bit of atmosphere too!

Not asking for much, eh?!

Thanks in advance folks. GALWAY CITY CENTRE

A word of thanks...

...to everyone who took the time to reply to my many posts asking questions here in the last couple of weeks.

Just had a brilliant 4 days in West and South West Donegal.

Took in an evening at Burtonport Festival. A trip to Arranmore. Several beautiful drives taking in An Cuirt, Carrickfinn, Glengesh Pass, An Port, Malin Beg, Sliabh Liag...think that's as much as we managed to cover.

Ate in Golden Palace and Capranis in Dungloe, Leo's Tavern and Marina Cafe in Killybegs. All delicious!

We also lucked out with the weather, the rain only arriving yesterday as we were leaving.

Thanks again, for sharing all your local knowledge and recommendations. Already looking forward to my next visit!

Best fish n chips in West Donegal?

As above, please share your recommendations.

I've been reading good things about Mellys and Killybegs Seafood Shack but a quick look at recent reviews on both spots aren't actually instilling great confidence tbh...

Surely I can't be the only person who is not into sun holidays?

....or can I?!

What do you ladies who aren't great in the hot weather do for trips away?

I simply avoid travel during the summer myself.

What is one random thing that gives you the complete ick?

For me, one of the first things that springs to mind is dirty fingernails. Amazes me how so many people seem there neglect their personal hygiene 🤮

Charity Shops

Any decent charity shops you can recommend.

I'll be in and around West Donegal, no plans to hit Letterkenny or Donegal town this time!

TIA.

This means I've been blocked, right??! Or is there any other explanation?

Pretty sure there's no other explanation?

Not one bit sad, so if I am right it's all good! 😂

Where to?

I'm so excited for my little roadtrip next week!

Staying two nights in Dungloe... Wednesday & Thursday then heading south to Killybegs/Kilcar on Friday.

After a long spin we'll arrive to Dungloe Wed late afternoon so check into accomodation, a bite to eat and just spin over to Burtonport and check out the festival. Arranmore on Thursday...head over early and back in the afternoon. If there was one absolute must do scenic drive for after dinner that evening what is it? So much to see, so little time 😔

Also open to opinions on what you might change to make the most of our time there either!

Westport dining options?

I'm in Westport solo for a gig tonight and i'd be delighted to hear your suggestions for a bite to eat before the show.

Thanks!

Hotel deal advertised but reneagued upon.

Hi all.

I've a question for any experts out there!

I'm a member of a travel club. Hotels partner with this travel club offering various deals. I wanted to avail of a particular deal so emailed the property in question.

Receptionist replied advising what rooms they had left, and for me to confirm all was in order and she'd proceed with booking. I replied, only for her to reply confirming they wouldn't in fact be in a position to honour the advertised price as its a very busy time of year etc. Manager got in on your act and it was he/she who decided this.

I'm just curious legally, do I have any recourse?

I've no intentions of going down the road of litigation etc but I'm curious as I'm totally disgusted at the way it was handled so unprofessionally.

....yet another Roadtrip post!

Another question regarding an upcoming road trip folks and I'd be delighted if you could help me with my sketchy plan. Unfortunately only have 3 days and I know I won't see a fraction of the good stuff but hey ho...

Travelling from the Midlands.

Definitely want to take in Arranmore Island.

Was thinking of staying in Dungloe for one night and make my way back down to Kilcar for the second night.

I've taken note of so many suggestions from previous posts and I'm bamboozled with all the wonderful options available.

Not sure whether to head straight for Burtonport on the day we arrive and take the ferry over to Arranmore around lunchtime or arrive in Dungloe and chill for a bit after a 3+ hour journey and then in the evening take a lovely spin up to Carrickfinn beach onwards to Bloody Foreland over Muckish trail onto Dunlewy and back through Gweedore and back to Dungloe.

Then head for Arranmore the following day and upon return to Burtonport we'll then make our way back down to Kilcar. Spend the following day taking in Slieve League, maybe even doing a boat tour.

Opinions/Suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks in advance!

Ireland

I've an idea that I'd love to explore, and that is creating a plus size friendly community in Ireland.

You know the one where we can all feel comfortable just being ourselves without the judgement of others.

Think, going for a dip in the lake without worrying about being the only person living in a larger body.

Think, understanding that outdoors in this heat is simply not an option for us.

Think, acknowledging one anothers concerns when it comes to flying Ryanair!

Think, holidaying with like minded people and not feeling the need to spend their time checking their heart rate on their fit bit whilst reaching 15k steps in their day!

If any or all of this resonates and you'd like to help me start a wonderful community of like minded women and men then be sure to comment here and/or send me a message.

Happy Saturday everyone.
